If you like sitting in a chair all day in the OR "monitoring" the patient but really just solving Sodoku puzzles, calling yourself the true "master of the airway" even while everyone else thinks you're a glorified nurse, then do anesthesiology.
If you like wearing bow ties while discussing in a high-pitched and nasally voice where the lesion is as well as philosophizing about the mind vs. the brain divide, all the while unable to do anything to actually help the patient, then do neurology.
If you like routinely working 12+ hour days even as an attending, being paged multiple times while you're asleep in bed in order to come into the hospital to evaluate a patient with a possible heart attack, and pretending that you're a surgeon even though you're not, then do cardiology (interventional).
If you like hand-holding patients for months on end and even years through their "journey" toward the end of their life, if you can stand delivering bad news to usually elderly patients and seeing them absolutely devastated, in their darkest moments, if you can handle the emotional rollercoaster of their treatment, along with the emotional rollercoasters of their very concerned families and friends, if you can give medications that hopefully will help them but at the same time potentially wreck them, if you think another round of chemo couldn't hurt and might even help though it's obvious to everyone else including other physicians it won't, then do (medical) oncology.
If you like making tons of money while staring at a computer screen in the dark for the entire day (or night), and possibly doing so from home, kind of like you're playing video games and trying to find Carmen Sandiego or Waldo, but rarely ever seeing let alone knowing how to treat or manage a patient, and having any and all evidence of anything you might've missed and thus potentially sued over forever saved as an image, then do radiology.
If you like to help patients but only after they're already dead, if you are fascinated with cut-ups of various organs and other anatomical parts but not in the OR, if you like forensics and CSI stuff like in the movies and on television but you don't actually need to have a job and make an income, then do pathology.
If you like being a jack of all trades but a master of none, if you like seeing mostly colds and flus and headaches, and dishing out hipster advice about the latest herbs or ointments to help with this or that, while living way out in the country or a rural area far away from civilization with their "hospitals" and such, then do family medicine.
If you like listening to patients drone on for hours and hours about their first world problems, or patients telling you how they are the next messiah, if you believe it's obvious surgeons manifest narcissistic personality disorder, and if you don't mind people asking you if you're a psychologist, or being called a fake doctor, then do psychiatry.
If you like wrestling with angry and violent drunks on a routine basis, if you think the frequent flyers are more adorable than annoying, if you think the latest GOMER needs an emergency tracheotomy which you are 110% sure you can do with just a ballpoint pen or a straw, if you don't mind forever working nights, weekends, and holidays, rotating from shift to shift, but on your days off being able to fly to anywhere in the world to hit the slopes or surf the waves, and if you like to have all the specialists in the hospital hate you and think you have no idea what you're talking about when you call them to come and see a patient, then do emergency medicine.
This could go on forever...

I would say anesthesiologists are voyeurs who like to watch others and go to them self I could do that if I wanted to but I choose not to.
Pathologist on the other hand are the scientists of medicine who could do anything they put their minds to they just do not like to deal with distracting patients.

It’s a very funny video but let me warn people.. it’s not necessary that his perspective is the same as yours.. it’s very important to experience it first hand. I always wanted to be a pediatrician , I had this amazing chemistry with kids, everyone noticed it. When I started the rotation , I realized I had to work with sick kids, some of them were suffering from terminal diseases. I felt so much anger (about innocent kids having to suffer) and helplessness( that I could not always make things better) in those months, I swore to never think about pediatrics again. Never 😐 it really depends on your personality, you need some self awareness, experience and an in depth analysis about your real motivation .
It does depend on your outlook. Some people want to go out of their way to help sick children. Some will cross a burning bridge to help.
Others will wilt at the sight.
My great aunt once lost her finger in an accident and family member came running to me as I was a doctor (clinical pathology) with it wrapped in a tissue and showed it to me well I nearly puked on the mashed up little bit of finger. Even today when I am eating fries I can see that image from many years ago and my wife goes you have stopped eating I just tell her something else about taking my time.

Medical school is also very expensive. Think around $200,000. As an example, primary care doctors may seem to get paid a lot if you just look at gross salary, but when you factor in all the other stuff, yeah you are not going to become movie star rich by going into primary care.

I too would like to reach people through social media as a surgeon but was concerned about the judgements of the field. My brother told me he was doing a rotation in Psychiatry and a rather large female patient who could be very physical had to be placed in a room for her own safety and the only way they could get her in was to lay her in the room with a couple of them on top of her and they would get of one by one and race for the door. My brother said he watched all of this happen with the orderly's having to do all the work and they were far smaller than my brother.
I would say it is a very hands of profession with an "aura of snootiness".

Hi, I work as a Pharm. Tech. and the prescription system we have now is extremely dated. I get the need for the tightness of security around a CII ( I work in NY) but if it's an e-script there has to be a better way to verify that the script is legit. It's frustrating since these things aren't just a 2-way talk but usually a 3 or 4 way talk and they usually can take 15 min to an hr on the phone just to sort things out.
TLDR - I feel you
