I appreciate having the "cheaper cars" in the movie. It was nice seeing a movie where the main cars were cars that most of us could afford and already owned. It made the movie somewhat realistic and relatable. Outside of stealing stuff out of trucks, it was basically the same thing my friends and I were doing around the time the movie came out. I think that's why we loved it. Nothing to do with the acting or even the characters for the most part, we just loved seeing and hearing the cars!

Exactly! Something the rest of the movies lack. I'll never forget the summer of 2001. Or walking out of the theater opening night of fast 1. What a time to be into cars, and be 17 almost 18.

@@vermontvermont9292I was 15 when The Fast & The Furious came out, but I bought the DVD on eBay (it was a bootleg I later found out) and so for me it was leaving the theater after 2 Fast 2 Furious in my 1993 300ZX. Even though that movie wasn’t as good I still had a ton of fun getting into tuner culture back then.

I think the reason these newer movies don't have cars fetching such a high price is that they just aren't treated like characters as they used to be. Dom's driving every variation of Charger/Challenger under the sun, and everyone else is driving a new supercar in the next scene. You just don't see the character as owning the car and building it themselves as you did with the older movies.

I found out about 1G DSM's because of this film - I was 7 when it came out and I vividly remember my mom renting it for me from Hollywood Video in 2002, I had stayed home from school sick and watched this over and over. Probably watched this movie 3 dozen times in my childhood and still give it a watch once every few years. A Green 1G Talon TSi AWD was my first car, put a manual boost controller on it and re-wired the fuel pump, turned up the boost to 15psi. Had so much fun in that thing and it never left me stranded.

I bought an eclipse about 5 yrs ago that I was gonna convert to a replica but it was too far gone to waste the money. I've since found a very clean one and I plan on making the replica with that one!! I wish the franchise would add that import and american street racing feel of the first 2 movies again but that's just a dream seeing that the cars aren't the focus anymore and it's gotten even worse since Paul Walker passed because he was the true car guy! Good video!!

Realistically, how high can the boost be turned up until it's problematic. Majority of forums typically responded with 6PSI but no more than 8.... and yet RUclips videos had popped up on occasion proving otherwise (although not as dependable long term). I'd set something up myself but online community claims they're not complete or are misleading.
Last year I said to hell with it and stuck a 50-shot bottle on there then called it a day. Helps a lot when merging into speeding traffic or when people are being bullies.

I was already up on JDM before this movie because of Gran Turismo. Talk about full circle. I couldn’t believe the hero car was an Eclipse and the most background character in the movie had an R33 GT-R. Don’t even mention “DANGER TO MANIFOLD” or “Shut up!”.

Imo the Eclipse was the coolest of the import coupes during that era. Every generation. Almost bought one twice, but they sold before I got to them. That body just kept getting better every year. Still would love to have one.

I've always wanted to know what that hose is that's dangling underneath the eclipse at 6:09 and several other scenes. There are no hoses on the stock 420a that would do that. Was is a power line for the neons or something? haha

Hi, Craig. I really enjoy your videos, especially the ones where you talk about the vehicles from The Fast and the Furious 1, because for me, it was the best movie of them all. I find it amazing that you talk about all the vehicles in this movie. I’d also love it if you could tell us something about the motorcycles featured in this movie (The Fast and the Furious 1). I’d like to know more about these motorcycles, for example, the sport bikes used to intercept the Mitsubishi Eclipse, and the enduro bikes that are used in the chase scene with the Toyota Supra at the end of the movie. It would be incredible to know if you were involved in this process in any way. And anything related to these motorcycles would be great. Your videos are awesome. Keep making more content like this. Greetings from Bogotá, Colombia.

Thanks for letting us learn more about the Eclipse. The style is cool, bodykit is really fitting, and the color, well, the kawasaki green wasn't really a good idea, too bright, and not really racey.
But the car sounded glorious and was still impressive.
You talked about the filter for the camera, now I wonder how it would look like with an actual generation 35MM camera, film, and filter? It would be interesting to find out though, to compare between 2001 and 2023-24.

I've seen the Hero 1 car in Gatlinburg Tenessee. It's been a few years since i saw it but i specifically remember it being in much worse shape than i expected. so much so that i assumed it was either a backup car or a replica. hopefully it can be restored at some point
