    This is solid advice! I wish I had listened to you 9 years ago and followed your instructions to take the finasteride. Following the hair transplant, I did take it for a while, but the propaganda online about the potential side effects (me being a young active single male) scared me away from it. I know now, having been taking it for the past three years, that my concerns were unwarranted.

      Thank you for commenting and sharing your valuable life lesson on Finasteride. It has been almost 10 years since your procedure. With Finastreide the baldness would have been uch slower. And everyone, as you realise now, does not have side effects.
      However the propaganda is still here and many young people waste precious time trying other treatments and lose time which never comes back.

    Hi Dr Bhatti. I'm enjoying your series on finasteride and it's use in MPB. My question is If for example a patient who is Norwood 7 (like myself) and has a hair transplant, should that patient use finsteride to help protect their donor (and recipient area) for senile alopecia? Or do you feel from your wealth of experience that this is not necessary? Also congratulations on your daughter's new career. I'm sure she will be a major asset to the hair loss community also. Many thanks in advance!

    Hello Doctor! I've been experiencing a lot of hairfall from 3-4 months. I'm 20 years old and I can see my hairline is slowly going back. So, Today I've consulted a doctor and he gave me novegrow 5 and finestaride 1mg for 60 days. I've Googled about these medicines and found a lot of comments/reviews on side effects of finestaride. This scares me. Should I use it or should I go for any other alternative other than finestaride?

    Hi Doctor, can you provide your views or Dutasteride? 0.5mg of this drug appears to be more effective overall vs. Finasteride in light of their side effects. A video on this would be 👍

    • @hairtransplantinindia
      @hairtransplantinindia  Год назад

      Dutasteride is a more powerful DHT blocker and hence if you talk of side effects with Finastreide, they will be higher in those who take Dutasteride. It is not FDA approved for hair loss, so there is not much information about it to the public.

    Doctor I have just discovered you and am enjoying your videos. I have recession in my corners, and very thin in my crown and right behind my frontal hairline. I have recently restarted 5% topical minoxidil 2 months in and newly starting finasteride 1mg 3x weekly 7 weeks now. So far no significant side effects. But I have gained some weight very quickly, 10 lbs which i think is due to the minoxidil. Question should i lower my minoxidil to 1x daily to fix this. Just trying to not get fat to keep my hair. I am very active work out at least 4x a week. And thanks in advance.

    • @hairtransplantinindia

      Thank you for your words of appreciation. No, your weight gain is not due to minoxidil. I would advise you to get your total serum estradiol and testosterone levels checked. Additionally, it would be wise to also get your thyroid function tests i.e., TSH, T3 and T4 levels checked to exclude any thyroid condition.

    I take FInasteride 3x a week, 1mg. After 3 months it has decreased my libido a bit, but the results for my hair are very good. I don't want to stop, but I also want to regain my libido back a bit. Do you deal with these issues in your clinic? And do these symptoms usually subside with continued use? Hairloss doctor says I may not need very much Finasteride in my system to keep my hair and is thinking of even lowering the dose more. 0.5 - 0.75 3x a week. For reference, I'm 37 years old, and only noticed slight thinning at the hairline when I was 35.

    Hello doctor. Thank-you for the informative videos. I was hoping you could give me a bit of advice. I'm turning 60 soon, and over the last few months I have noticed increased thinning in my crown. I have never been on finasteride, as my hairloss was quite minimal and I was pretty much stable over the last decade. I'm wondering:
    1. Is propecia still effective for someone my age? If so, what dosage would you recommend ? Any special concerns for an old-timer like me?
    2. I've read comments on line about men using finasteride, which seemed to kick the balding process into high gear and they end up worse off than when they started. Have you encountered this in your practice? This concerns me as I have been fortunate to get this far with a pretty good head of hair.
    Thanks.

      Type 3 isoform is involved in bile acid biosynthesis, androgen and estrogen metabolism. Yes, it is involved in the production of androgen 5-alpha-dihydrotestosterone (DHT) from testosterone, but not as much as is type 1 and type 2 isoenzymes. Finasteride blocks type 2 isoform of 5 alpha reductase whereas dutasteride blocks both type 1 and type 2.
