This video cost them $400 to make. They filmed it in Avi and Kevin's apartment. Did all of the editing themselves and won a Grammy with this video. Let me go over the names for you:
Scott: Tall blonde, Baritone
Mitch: Little dude, always changing his style, Tenor
Kirsten: Only female member of the group, Soprano
Avi: Low Bass dude, looks like Jesus (was replaced by Matt in 2017, there is a very sad, but heart felt video they all did together on why he left the group, I recommend watching that video) He does have his own RUclips channel that is well worth checking out.
Kevin: Beatboxer, Cello, and half a dozen other instruments (I would say is the most musically talented person) also sings Tenor
(Matt: not in this video, replaced Avi as the low bass singer in 2017)

Pentaholics understand the fascination. The song "Run to You" is an original, it's a very moving, beautiful song, and they made the sheet music available. You need to watch Imagine - the official video - it's a beautiful message.
Almost 10 years later and I am still in love with that song run to you. I actually got a favourite from Scott on Twitter when I tweeted about it the time it came out , it is still one of my proudest moments 😊

This song won them their first Grammy, crazy thing is they did this in one of their apts for 400.
They also this year got a Star in Hollywood Star of Fame...1st acapella group ever....they are absolutely mind-blowing everytime

His name is Scott Hoying, but you can call him The Blue Eyed Soul Dragon. Thank You, Imagine, Tears for this World, Coffee in Bed, Shallow and many others will give you a chance to hear all the different colors of his voice. This is the most amazing collection of ridiculously great voices, GOD given talent, and hard work.
FYI Scott, Mitch and Kirsten were childhood friends and went to school together in Arlington Texas ( they took choir of course). Then they recruited Kevin and Avi to form Pentatonix; while they were still teenagers!

What gets me is they can do this live, including the scratch. There is a live version of a private performance for a make a wish kid backstage. No mics, recorded on a mobile phone and it sounds identical.

If you wanna see something really amazing. There's a private performance of this same song that Daft Punk medley where they have no microphones or anything for those disbelievers. Who think they can't do it? Period and something else truly amazing if you get a chance. Look at kevin's fifth was from louisville last year christmas

Left bottom is Avi. he is the only one who has left the group. Pentatonix received a Grammy for this. Have you thought about playing “Imagine” cover? Does your ministry have a website?
Great reaction. As you said after the video, that a school could have their chorus download the sheet music, is exactly what my daughter's chamber choir did. They performed "Run to You" in their Spring concert. If you haven't listened to that one yet, it is amazing.

The original bass was Avi Kaplan until 2017, he's kinda a super bass LOL. He has a GREAT song for y'all to check out "Change on The Rise" All the time I forget no instruments, it's amazing. In some they will use instruments but they are front and center. (Kevin is a world class Cellist)

KO is knock out for Kevin Olusola, Avi-launched for Avi Kaplan, and if course Mitch slapped. The blond is Scott Hoying and the girl is Kirstin Maldonado. A lot of people pronounce her name as Kristin but it rhymes with thirsty. That would be a cute expression for her...thirsty for Kirstie. The group began as 3 high school classmates, Scott Mitch and Kirstie. They wanted to audition for The Sing Off but needed at least 5 to qualify. Someone suggested they find a beatboxer and a bass. Avi and Scott shared a mutual friend and they found Kevin online by searching for beatboxer on RUclips. They all met like one or two days before the audition and meshed immediately. If you want to get to know them I suggest beginning with their Sing Off performances from beginning to end. The Kevin Show Kevin's Fifth also recaps the way they came together. Also the evolution of Pentatonix video explains but includes Matt Sallee who replaced Avi Kaplan as the bass. Avi went solo and has several awesome songs. Change on the Rise is my favorite. Mitch and Scott have a duet and channel called Superfruit in which they collaborate with other artists. If PTX is G rated then Superfruits videos fall somewhere between PG13 and R rated. Katy Perrys Rise will touch your heart and soul in so many ways. I've seen that record bring grown men to tears. Ariana Grande's Problem ( official video and 3FM live) sound exactly the same live as in the studio. Can't Hold Us is really great also. Their best performance in my opinion is Aha live Singapore Star Vista but if you are just starting down this rabbit hole you may not be ready for that one. It's next level for certain. And another suggestion would be to listen to the original artist and song before PTX version because for most songs they aren't covers, they are upgrades. Daft punk won a Grammy and only of a $400 budget. They also won Grammys for Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and their collaboration with Dolly Parton's Jolene. It's funny that as the winners of the sing off, they lost their recording contract because they said they didn't know what to do with them....that they really weren't relevant I. The music world. We all see how wrong they were. PTX took charge of their own success by using RUclips to post their songs and did most live at home on a couch. Probably with a cell phone. And over a decade later here we are with Pentaholics. I've seen channels grow overnight just because of the reaction videos, so this will be an excellent outlet for you to spread His word and help so many struggling and failing marriages succeed. My opinion. So I wish you all the success on your channel and reaching out to help others in your ministry. I may just tune in on a Saturday really soon and get some advice for my own life and marriage. Welcome to the world of PTX ...happy listening!!!!

I think you could truly appreciate the song It Knows Me by Avi Kaplan (bass in this video) He left Pentatonix in 2017 and has since started a solo career. His voice has a way of speaking directly to your soul ❤
Scott, Kirstie and Mitch grew up together in Texas. They have sung together since they were kids. Kevin and Avi helped form group in 2011. Avi left when his mom got cancer and he needed to stop constantly touring, Matt joined as replacement bass in 2017

You should check out some of their live performances. My favorite one is "Joyful Joyful" Live from the evergreen experience. It is so amazing.
If you want a Mitch Slap you'll really feel then you have to react to their AHA starvista Singapore live. It was captured on a cam but the sound quality is excellent. It's a must watch and keep smelling salts handy you'll need them to revive each other due to Mitch lol 🍀❤️🍀❤️🍀😊👍ps. lovely human beings, you two are joy and i want to say THANK YOU for being just that. I used to be the same and now i do not know if i will ever be allowed to be that again. My career in USMC has changed that and hope i will be able to get right with God. I lived under a husband makes for a bad Marine and a Marine makes for a bad husband. Forced to retire from the Marine corps after Fallujah in 2004. After after everything I would never share my problems on anyone i find my courageous being depleted. You love Avi (bass)!!!! I knew you would, Matt just can't do anything even close to what Avi could. Matt is a good singer and can get low but he is not busting speakers that I know of. Avi was my favorite member. Now it is between Kevin and Scott, leaning towards Kevin. You should check out Kevin's version of Down on his channel. You would love it!

Just found your channel and enjoyed the reactions I've watched. If vocals are what interest you musically then you have discovered the 1st of the trifecta of vocal performing groups, i would recommend also reacting to Home Free ( more of a country sounding group but can do about anything ) and the third and my favorite of the three groups is Voiceplay ( the theater kids of aacapala) keep putting the video's out

I’ve seen them a couple times live and it only takes about 10 seconds to forget it’s mostly a cappella. The funny thing is that I really don’t like a cappella at all, but have tickets to see them for the third time December 2nd.

PTX is so good at creating a volume of sound, that it disguises the fact that it's acapella. They're SO good at creating EDM sound that most people would be convinced it's not real. I mean, they literally autotuned in the middle of the song, WITHOUT autotune. In Bohemian Rhapsody, Mitch mastered making an electric guitar sound so well, that when he used a megaphone as a prop in the video fans actually thought it was the megaphone making the sound - until he did it live in concert without it. It's insane what these five people can do, it often sounds like 8-10 people are performing.
If you want to hear a crazy EDM song, watch COFFEE IN BED. Matt's bass lines are perfect, and Kevin's beats are so fast it will blow your mind.
