I'm beyond happy op had a supportive sister and family. SA in general isn't taken seriously in general and it's outright stigmatized when it happens to men. I hope OP recovers without roadbumps and i hate that Mike only got 4 years
@@RorschachqpOPs partner is in the UK and has a time difference. I’m assuming OP is American. And our justice system is a joke, especially surrounding SA, and even more so with male victims. 4 years is more than most grapists get unfortunately
Not to sound cliché or hateful or anything, I’m just giving my opinion based on my own understanding and life experience. But I will assume that it has much to do with the fact that they are both men and it was a first offense. Unfortunately, the Justice system tends to not take men as seriously as women, so already that was likely working against him. But also, since it was a first offense the courts probably deemed it as a “mistake” and downplayed the severity of the situation. He definitely should’ve gotten much longer, but this is unfortunately the reality for alot of us men

The sister that is "estranged or has little contact" could well be the first victim that the parents didn't believe.
That was my thought. She knew what he was like or it happened to her.
