OP posted another update: Ex SIL threw a fit, was barred from the premises of the DV centre and now works at Lowes because she has to pay for the damage she caused at the DV centre. Ex has stayed quiet because he can't afford to lose his new job because of the damages for emotional distress and harm he has to pay to OP. Also, OP now has a kitten!
I’ve heard this story multiple times before, but I’m so glad the ex-SIL was let go. Imagine trying to reach out for help only to be gaslit and told “well, that’s not ACTUALLY abuse”. I wouldn’t want someone so biased working with me if I was in a domestic abuse situation
What's sad is that this outcome would very rarely happpen to a stay-at-home-wife or if the OP didn't have any savings. The fact that OP had help from her workplace is also a rare occurence(I think). I can only imagine and fee sad about those that were trapped in that kind of "marriage" with no way out like her grandma.
I’m so glad, the stars all aligned for OP, she had a good amount of savings, had been told by her grandma about how she had suffered from abuse, a good workplace, was smart and strong enough not to give in to her husband when he pushed to join bank accounts, a good lawyer and got multiple advices from the people on Reddit for better chances at divorce. Great and satisfying outcome. 🙏🏻
@@danacarter9147if it was me I would never want to be in a relationship ever again if I ever get the chance to leave my husband I would never want another relationship even as a bisexual woman my husband has not abuse me but he's very emotionally draining honestly and that stressful for me although it may not seem like that for anyone else
YES! I was waiting for an update on the SIL. The audacity of this mf to be working with in an organization that helps victims, while undermining the abuse of an abuse victim. I’m glad she has less chances of working in this field. Imagine if some victim comes across this post and decides not to get help in those services because people like SIL work there too? Anyways, I’m so glad OP is divorced and I wish her life goes well, away from the toxicity of those people. What a garbage group of human beings.
Cameras outside the house, in the living room, kitchen, hallways/stairways, entry ways, very much understandable with those being public areas where one typically has to go through to get to the other areas of the house. But I find something creepy anytime a constantly recording camera is in any bedroom except for that of an infant/maybe toddler for actual safety reasons. Glad she got out of there because this was the beginning of what would have turned into an extremely emotionally abusive and controlling marriage. This is why it's important to recognize the signs early on. Tracking devices, needing to know your every minute (and verifying that with other people) of every time you are apart, this isn't "for your safety". This is because they don't trust you. Yes, there are practical reasons for some of these things, that are 99% of the time related to health or the age of an individual, but when it comes to a healthy adult, these things are not necessary.
In such a situation, give your employer a picture and ask that security call the police if spouse comes looking for you. Talk to your lawyer about what you can erase without legal consequences. Just say no, backed up by 911 if he makes threats. When either the hsuband or the wife wants full control of all finances, it's time to cut your losses and run. A real wife marries a real husband, not a tyrant.
She played that very smart. I imagine some of the damage and what he tried to do to the officer would have been her. Unfortunately, there are a lot of men who are like this now. Seeing the likes of Andrew Tate as a role model. I am still shocked how a SIL that worked in a DV shelter would back that. Vile. Good on the Lawyer for sending the documentation to that shelter. That snake definitely needed to be removed from there.

I’m glad she’s out, but can we talk about the lawyer? What an amazing person!

I’m glad she finally got her justice ad happy ending. I hope she can thrive in her new life
Same here. And I also hope she finds another guy, one who has a heart of gold; but in the meantime, she needs to give herself time to heal.

She is a very brave woman

There's a new update from her about life after the divorce

This is why no-fault divorce is necessary. Certain people would say that Alex did nothing wrong.
