Another variable regarding stats and their priority is what racial bonus you have. For example, in ICC, there’s a sword with armor pen that could put you closer to the hard pen cap, but if you’re an Orc, you may want to pass on it in favor of the 2.6 haste axe for the expertise racial bonus. This is all theoretical and perfect scenario stuff and realistically you’ll just use what drops first or is the easiest to acquire. Always prioritize item level for Combat, base damage is always a bigger upgrade than secondary stats.

@symonizeshow what do you think about wearing pvp hands for free kicks on vezex In terms of dps increase? Quite a stat drop but wondering if it's worth the 10 energy
Can you explain rupture vs eviscerate? Eviscerate seems like a no brainier because it’s nearly 1k damage instantly rather than dot but almost every guide recommends rupture. I don’t get it
Not agree about crit cap. According to spreadsheet with BIS Ulduar gear it shows some “wasted” crit rating, which means that I reach crit cap. Replacing some AP/crit gems with AP/hit (hit is already above poison cap) gems increase DPS and decrease “wasted” crit rating. I’m not sure but probably spreadsheet taking into account Dark matter proc (+692 crit rating).
What if your power goes off while u should be backing up the wound poison? I bet u didnt think about that. Like seriously, how you die on general vezax as melee?
i used all the time instant poison on slow main hand and deadly poison on fast off hand that makes more sense to me and a lot of guide sites told me that.. but i've never used any sim tool and now u got me confushed here :/ ....
Not really, no. Only if NO OTHER CLASS can apply a healing debuff, rogue is the worst class to assign to do this because they lose far more DPS than any other class. The best is to have a hunter apply the healing debuff.
Hey Simon! In the comments to the last video about assa weapons I saw a lot of people were asking why you have to use a fast dagger with DP in your main hand, and you mentioned it again. Can you finally clarify this, please? P.S. Big thanks 4 your work, great content!
If you have a rly good 1,8 dagger and low dps fast dagger it can be better for you to put the slow with instant poison in mh and the fast with dp in oh.. but that is very situational.
You'd expect to use a high damage weapon (which usually has a slow attack speed) in your main hand, since that would make your mutilate and fan of knives do more damage. But, it turns out that mutilate currently has this amazing feature that it can proc your main hand poison twice. Deadly poison has a 50% chance to proc and instant poison only has a 30% chance to proc (on a 1.4 speed weapon) (increased to 65% and 52.5% by the envenom buff). This means you'll get more instant poison damage from mutilating by using deadly poison on your main hand. But you still want to put deadly poison on your fast weapon, so that you can optimize your instant poison damage from your white hits. Therefore, you put your fast weapon with deadly poison in your main hand. This does mean your mutilate does less damage, but the extra poison damage more than makes up for that loss. Sidenote: I had this exact question and asked this exact question in the discord server and only got non-answers from the people there. When I kept insisting that my question wasn't answered, they resorted to referring to videos and spreadsheets, which all just didn't answer the question. Things got quite tense when nobody could answer my question when finally someone mentioned to me that mutilate has this hidden double poison proc feature, and everything immediately became clear to me. I'm now steering clear from that discord, as the majority of the self-proclaimed "theory crafters" on that discord do nothing more than regurgitate what Simon says.
The tips are always solid. The game was better before the homogenized influx. A “classic” title won’t fix that. Your patience is beyond. I was curious if there was something ground breaking and always give the full view. You deserve wayyy more than you get I’m sure brother. 🤙
Can you tell me why when I went into WCL and compare stats, usage of abilities etc. that some other rogues just passively did 400 DPS more just from weapon hits and what I can do about their abilities critting 8% more in general? I compared all the stats for us both with same killtime and buffs with him having better gear but it ended up in him doing 1,5k more DPS. Is gear really that big of a difference?
3:50 - You say deadly poison mainhand and instant poison offhand? I thought it was the other way around. You want to be getting instant poison procs as quickly as possible, so you put it on the fast mainhand while you just need to maintain 5 stacks of deadly poison, so having it on the slower off hand, which procs less, is where it should be.
5 stacks of Deadly Poison is what will get you Instant poison procs quickly.. besides, 1.8 speed has a higher proc chance on Instant Poison than 1.4 speed. You put Deadly Poison on the 1.4 speed weapon so it ramps up to 5 stacks ASAP. And the Instant poison on the 1.8 speed so it has the highest chance to proc. Also, read the tooltip on Deadly Poison, once it reaches 5 stacks, it will also apply Instant Poison after every tick.
