Mage doesn't feel inherently difficult as a class; it's mostly in the hands of the user. Any mage can poly & burst, but a lot don't use it when it matters. I know that any person who's been PvPing since Arena was released originally can tell you the same thing, if you encounter a "good" mage, you will know it.
Easiest is Unholy Dk. Largest part of their damage is from clicking one button to summon Gargoyle, then having a handful of get out of jail free cards for playing badly. Gargoyle does so much damage, that most players have to los and wait it out. It’s kind of just an annoying gimmick.
Gotta disagree on destro lock. You are almost always the kill target on opener and pretty damn squishy. If you aren’t the kill target, sure yeah simple rotation.
i was thinking this to tbh any lock class esp in a comp vs double dps like every time im doing double dps and theres lock we just dumb cds n open lock and 85% chance it works out
Fury is just garbage for PvP. Arms is versatile and prot has comps it's really good in and really good against. It's squishy and doesn't have dispel spam of prot or heal debuff of arms.
I would honestly say that destro doesn't really belong in easy, I would say it's moreso moderate. Sure the DMG is nice, but 1 thing has always been consistent with destro, setups. You're not really gonna get dmg off without a setup, you also only have 2 schools unlike retail. If you get kicked on fire you can't do any DMG, corruption doesn't really do anything. Chaos bolt is fire school in wrath. Having access to tools like instant Shadowfury and backlash is most certainly helpful however but I wouldn't say makes the spec easy. Their defensive end is really great and next to perfect into casters, however with soul link you still take a truck load of dmg from classes like rogues, warriors and of course a casters best friend, death knights. Managing your pet is also very important, no pet, no soul link. Remember in Wrath we don't have the pet command Move To, meaning it's tougher to position our pet well and they die very easy. You'll also play felhunter more often than not simply because being able to purge yourself and team mates as well as spell lock AND blanket silence enemy casters/healers is just far too good for succubus to compare.
I think you took the list in the wrong way. I think it wasn't trying to claim that any monkey can be a good destro lock. Rather this list is for skill floor. Like the lowest skill you can have, and be relatively useful. Like if you're new to wow pvp and want to pick some class and feel like you have an impact. For that purpose, you CAN just use succubus on passive and autocast seduction. You CAN just use spells randomly and chunk people. Is it optimal? No. Is destro skill ceiling really high too? Yes. Like as destro you should probably play fel hunter for most matchups to be optimal. You should dot multiple targets while kiting to be optimal. But you don't HAVE TO do it to be a useful team mate. Meanwhile affliction hasn't got an option to play with succubus. They have to manage multidotting and generate pressure. They only have one spell school. They don't get procs for instant casts when hit. A bad affli lock is useless. A bad destro lock you can work with.
I would say Destro and Affliction are both moderately difficult. I’m surprised they put them in easy and difficult. Pet selection is matchup based, not spec based.
I certainly agree. This guy in the video is stating " Succubus og autocast"? If you have Succubus on autocast you are killing your DR's and litterally griefing yourself. 99% of the time autocast on Succubus is losing yourself all and every single arena match sub 1000 elo. Also if a lock is having seduction on autocast, they probably also has no clue about pet-management, which will get their succubus killed all day. So that will result in a Destro lock without a pet and no soullink, which is pretty much a deathsentence. This video guy is an absolute troll not gonna lie.
hunter is extremely hard, literally no way to prevent damage since deter barely works and they're super squishy. you never see them in arena because they're trash
using their criteria, MM is the hardest, the ceiling and floor have a massive differential, it has arguably the most binds in the game, and is just as squish as mage.
@@murk4545 Marksmen has the most binds, is a glass cannon, and requires mastery of controlling a pet to have a fighting chance against most classes. how is that a low skill floor? In PVE sure, but not in PVP. Also to give it perspective im a gladiator hunter.
Frankly I've found wotlk shadow priests to be pretty easy. Imo it's easier than Enh Shaman, but that might the fact that Enh. gets countered pretty hard by arms warriors, one of the most popular classes in that expansion, making it a bit frustrating.
Honestly to anyone who is gonna main a hunter: be sure you know what you are getting yourself into, because if you dont play right you can wipe raids. great example is the lich king fight, such annoying shit as a hunter in my opinion.
He's need dispell they braceros fast retire agro in horrors mantain orbs out in 2phase and a lot of shits You need macro , y i use macro for all bcse i AM yo lazy to clik bracer
Also another thing about Feral's is that you need to be behind a target to do big damage. If people play right against feral's it makes it hard for us to shred the target.
Ferals never get a good explanation on why they are good in any tier list/hard, even for PVE. I assume it’s bc of how little people actually play the class. They’re warriors, rogue, and healers combined in one, and are the most mobile class in the game. Difficult part is knowing which gcd to press in every situation you’re in out of all of them that you have.
They are difficult to master and little room for error, but once you master them, they are absolute units. Using predatory right for cyclones, entangles, HT's, keeping up bleeds/savage roar, because if SR falls off your dmg takes a big hit. You need to manage your dots and savage roar properly, also using tiger's fury is very important. They are easily one of the best 1v1 specs in the game with the potential for easy resets due to instant cyclones and even easier if you're a nightelf for shadowmeld which is essentially a vanish.
@@drainzs Skill floor has nothing to do with how hard something is to play, it defines how hard it is to learn. Skill ceiling is the potential of the class at it's highest level, or when played at its **most difficult.** Skill ceiling is how hard to play, and skill floor is how hard to learn.
I don't agree with the skill floor of Ele being low. First, they have a ton of different abilities to bind, and practically everything has some niche use. This is especially true for totems, where you will want different keybinds not just for your abilities that can drop multiple, but also keybinds for individual totems. You will mix and match depending on what you are facing, and constantly having to manage them on top of everything else you are doing. How you use your abilities is completely different from PvE and in a 1v1 you'll find yourself using things like Lightning Shield against melee or using Magma Totem to help damage a Rogue while you are stunned and then using Fire Nova since he will eat you quicker than you can eat your mana so you might as well. You will be dropping specific resistance totems depending on what school of magic an enemy caster uses. It makes me think of a fighting game where you have to learn your matchups well (there is a lot of knowledge required for the skill floor). I've seen people take entirely different approaches to deal with something tough like an Unholy DK, which is fascinating. It requires fake casting, and you won't have the chance to just turret spells.. you have to set up situations in which you can get burst in. There are multiple abilities for keeping distance, and which one you use at a given time matters. Shocks share a CD so using one locks you out of the other for a few seconds. You can do practically everything at any given time and knowing when to heal, damage, purge, drop a totem isn't really intuitive for new players... plus some of it can be matchup specific. Positioning is really important and you don't have a huge defensive CD like other classes do. It isn't very forgiving if you make a mistake. There is a lot to the spec, and while it could be argued a lot of this is related to the skill ceiling I would argue that nailing much of this is necessary to be effective... meaning a higher skill floor. Just my opinion but I've had better luck as a beginner with most of the "difficult ranged" than I did trying to learn how to play Ele.
Idk if you can play a mage you can play ele drop what ever totem call for the situation and use your interrupts and try and one shot someone with elemental mastery you can also heal your self
Ele is a medium skill floor at best. It has a lot of room for fuck up. The best way to see it, is if you compare it to other casters, its simply the least punishing for a bad player. They cant get trained very easily, they dont have to fakecast lava burst, hex doesnt break easily.
You can always tell who really played the game and who heard it all from their big brother who also didn't play but he's been on Warmane in full 284 gear for a decade
i had 8 level 80 characters i pvp'd with in original wrath. as well as a high warlord sorcerer. in battlegrounds funnest is warrior paladin combo. or solo mage or warlock. in arena my favorite comp was rogue mage priest. that being said while some classes are harde/easier to play that doesnt mean it will be easy to climb the leaderboards. i agree mostly with ur rankings btw
As a Wotlk Vet, i agree with the list besides 2: Arms is hard to master with a pretty high skill ceiling, Shadowpriest should be placed easy, its easier than ele sham for example.
Arms (warrior more specifically) has so many abilities to make use of that it's nearly impossible to play it most effectively. Highest skill cap spec in the whole expansion
@@lokei3477 oh boy chill, if you´ve ever played a hunter you wouldn´t be saying that. There´s a reason you barely see any hunters despite them being renowned as good in PVP
@@boretyy haha I´ve played arms in tbc, I´ve touched it in Wotlk. Arms is MUCH easier compared to hunters IMO. You may say it´s a matter of taste and preference.. maybe that´s true. But all in all, from my own experience, I wouldn´t/couldn´t ever even so much as PRETEND arms warriors are harder in PvP compared with MM hunters. I don´t know where to begin even to describe why I find it this way... This is one of those "trust me bro" moments.
Shadow word death is a geat way to attempt to avoid a sheep/blind or to get your prayer of mending to jump to a different target, i found it to be quite useful so idk why you dismissed it
"Resto shamans are hard because they suck." Playing as resto shaman was much more easy and fun for me than playing priest. Shamans are tankier and much more mobile - huge advantage for survivability.
In pvp it's pretty Unga Bunga. You pop cds in the early game and roll. That works all the way to 1800 rating. That's pretty fkin easy. Sure maybe at the like... 2400 it becomes hard because you make decisions and your positioning actually matters but at mid to low elo? It's by far one of the easier classes.
The reason mage is the hardest class is bec they have the skillset to outplay every other class(meaning that the class have much more buttons to press if taken advantage of), also they have the best abilities in the game when it comes to cc. If you start maining mage, you will become a better pvp player in general.
Ele doesn't have dispel protection, it has a mini-lust. You should always dispel flameshock because the only threat of doing so is a fast hex, which isn't much of a threat considering hex has a 45 second CD and 20 yd range. Lbolt does 1k damage non-crit for a 2 second cast time. Chain lightning is only gonna do average damage unless you crit or proc overload. Frost shock does ok damage for an instant cast. That's why shamans and locks were always a thing, the lock gives the shaman dispel protection. You dispel flameshock and the shaman is gonna lose 50% of their damage since Lburst won't crit. Ele is bad at many things btw, most of all living vs melee cleaves which is 90% of the meta (DK+anything). Also, their CC is terrible. Hex, thunderstorm, earthgrab. That's it. Windshear is good, but its still worse than blanket silences with locks/spriests/mages all get (and mage/lock still has the long duration interrupt built in). Ele is also the only caster without a stun which is a massive downside. It's mobility is also average at best. Ele is also the only caster with no defensive CD. No stoneclaw totem doesn't count lol it's a 30sec CD priest shield, I mean an actual defensive. Our only "defensive" comes from being stunned/silenced, so it does nothing when people just pop CDs and burst. Your self/peel is a root, which anyone can just counter CC you on, and a knockback with a longer CD than every gapcloser in the game. You are pretty much 100% reliant on your team to peel for you if you get tunneled, which you most likely will because you are so easy to train down. The main strength of ele is its burst if you can get it off, but that requires the other healer to not dispel and you to freecast. Every other cast can do good burst too with those conditions, but can do the same without those conditions. Also, ele is good vs mages because of purge, low cd kick, grounding. It's not good vs dot classes because they will just rot you down until you oom while they pillar hump. Ele can't do much of anything vs pillar humpers because almost all your damage is hard-casted. And it's not good vs melee because you will struggle to get any casts off. Vs any feral/rogue, you literally can't do anything. Vs any good dk/war/enhance it's pretty much the same. Your mobility is worse than mages/boomies, but better than priest. It's better than lock in some ways but worse in others. Lock's just port out instantly, shamans can sort of outrun people eventually but take damage the whole time they are doing so. Ele also has the worst healing of any hybrid. Fastest to oom and most hard-cast reliant for the least healing per cast. But people cry that ele is OP because they get "one shot", except when you look at the damage breakdown I can guarantee you the mage/lock/boomy/war (all of the most common ele comps) are doing more than the ele lol and bursting harder than the ele. Hell even shadowpriests can burst as hard as ele with full dots then mindblast+death crit. Ele has tonnes of nieche tools, so it supplements other classes well. But ele itself is pretty lackluster in most aspects of the game (cc, survivability, mobility, actually getting their damage off). Ele can be summed up simply as, if you fuck up once you're probably dead, or so far behind that you can't catch up. If you don't believe me play one, I played mage/lock/ele back in original wrath and ele was by far the hardest to win with. It's skill ceiling is definitely high, not as high as hunters, but more so than any other ranged in the game. Mage/Lock by far the easiest. Then boomy. Then spriest. Then ele. Then hunter.
I played ele the whole original Wotlk, it was fun, but I wanna see you play it in 2s double dps, I did 2,2k+ playing ele/frost and it’s not that easy as you think

Rshaman is good like ele a Teamplay god. But not as good left by is own. Can easier be burstet but is literaly immun to dispell (eartshield) Not as strong in 2v2 but better in 3v3 like elemental for the same reasons. Ppaly hshaman is a Meme nice to farm melee combs but against good caster combs eaten alive...
Paladins are easy to start but they are incredibly hard to play at good level. Shield for each party member, freedom for each party member same for hand and for bop and dispell. That is already 15 buttons in 3s for a basic utility. Same applies to healing spells and everything should be pressed almost with no delay.
As a lock main I’m happy to see affliction as one of the hardest. I would disagree with frost mage being hardest though, yes it has a high ceiling but it is a pretty simple class. Not to mention it has some of the craziest cc and control in the game. I played both classes at 2k and was glad on my mage and I found aff warlock to take more planning, skill, and management with pet. That’s not to say Mages are easy because they prob are top 3 skill ceiling classes in the game. A good mage can easily 1v2 most people easier than most classes.

It's often times just unlucky that your Rng soesn't procc what you need. For arena tryhard I would suggest Frost. For Fun ? Go and Procc some Pyros mate 😉 Your disarm is good against Hunter in Bg which gonna festroy any Frostmage
Kinda have to disagree on ur Categories I mean just so you don' t have as much options doesn't means ur class is easier. The opposite is the case more cooldowns and more options means you can mess up more! Like Uh vs Fdk for sure you have less Cooldowns. But Unholy diseases can't be dispelled you have much more reliable slow And extra protections against Magic. Also the Garg is range so u can just put him anywere. Enhancenent however needs to be carefull with mana is easy to kite and squishie especialy when your wolfes are down. Since your spirits provite your Speed buff and root removal and also heal you. Your spirits are your best and pretty much only real tool of burst and survival. To manage that and survive between this Cooldown 165 seconds isn't easy. Arms warrior gonna stomp the low elo with pretty much faceroll into enemys face playstyle. And Rage managment is less important than u think! Also u don't usually pummel you shield bash since you can macro a shield sword makro so you do not have to switch stance. Maybe play wotlk arena first lmao!
Its funny that you talk about prot paladin twice now and you're showing preg. Just curious, do you know that there is 3 different dps paladin specs in wrath? 1. Deep Retri 2. Deep Prot and 3. Hybrid Retri and prot called Preg? I would say Preg is the easiest followed by prot and then Retri requires abit more to it than the other 2
I guess there a lot of people who have no idea about how the meta was in 3v3 5v5 Wotlk to say that "mage is hard" "ret is moderate" "rsham is hard". Maybe is hard to play in solo , but with Cleave (and its variations) and RMP these class are not as hard and for some , really facerolling/tunneling.
The money back guarantee that they advertise for their guide is kind of a scam/false advertising. If you do something for 6 months, even if you're bad at it, you'll improve, so there's no way they're ever giving you your money back.
Boomkin, mana manage while doing dmg and off healint, go and stop go, using non instant CC, shapeshifting. And low dmg while no starfall. Is the hardest ranged by far, moreover is the worst ranged for arena..
The part where you guys show prot game play and prot pala well that was half ret half prot spec called preg so that wast even close to what prot gameplay is 😂
Mage really is difficult, especially in pvp, I'm struggling a lot with this class, it seems that even if I had ten more fingers, I would still have difficulty in duels hahaha, but I also know its potential, that's why I'm insisting and I intend to master it . I'm a beginner, so it's normal for me to have difficulty, especially because I don't know everything about the game or the opponents, but I feel a little calmer knowing that mage really is difficult and that the problem might not just be me. LoL
Ye , i mentioned same mistake in this video. what about pet managment with offencive and defencive dispell alone? Plus double cc skill with seduce + setting perfect damage chains ...
Lots of BS. as someone who plays spriest, aflic/destro lock, ele shaman, I can say that spriest is hands down the easiest caster to play perfectly. After that is Afliction, lots of room for errors with affliction. Destro is hard, if you make one mistake, you'll get interupted/chain CCed to death. Also you always gotta keep track of where you pet is
yes especially Ferals and assaiin roges Real hard to play, Run down one target in 2s and you have a high win chance, use other spells somtimes to the other target and thats it lmao.
Ele is hardly easy. Earthbind is 10.5 seconds, can be dispelled, DR's and can be hit with immunities. Your ghost wolf can easily be dispelled, and astral shift is weak when you face many double DPS comps. This was obviously produced months ago, and as wow has over time things change as new information is produced. Also obtaining gear is far easier as a whole. Ele relies heavily on your partner(s) and their decisions. 40 second hex is another abilitiy, but again is 40 seconds CD. Locks in general are also difficult, both ele and lock are two specs almost exclusively that lack any kind of fail safe or defensive CD. Mages have iceblock, sheeps, blinks, invisi etc. Nearly every other spec has some form of defensive that can entirely change the game if they are near death. It is nice that this video can cover a ton of different class CD's and such, but in depth its wrong.
Lmao. No! One Charge burst from an Icc geared warrior and your rogue is dead/needs to burn cds to survive. Warrior is more of a damage/pressure machine Rogue needs to Outplay the enemy team. In 3.3.5 Rogue is defenetly good but hard!
You can´t compare ele shamans with mm/surv hunters :P They are on different levels of hard where hunters are maaaad difficult. I´ve played on my pala since classic vanilla and while they are easy to learn they are very hard to master due to all the roles they fill.. hunter fill one role but gddamn that´s tough if you don´t know what you´re doing.
This list seems to be base off of using class CC,utility, and cooldown management. It doesn't seem based off of rotations. anybody can do damage using you tool kit with your team to get kills and not die.
I wouldn’t say destro is in easy at all mage in therory should be easy then too because they have access to plenty of slows/roots and 2 blocks warlock literally has port coil and that’s it (I don’t count soul link as a real defensive) the both classes are pretty equal in difficulty
I play heaps of mage and i find lock hard, purely because i search for defensives then realise i dont have any.. so positioning gets punished a lot harder.
You dont count soul link, a passive 20% CDR thats basically up all time, as defensive?? xD That is one of the reasons why destro is in easy category while mage is in hard. Because mage has to actively use all of their defensives at the right time. As a lock, you can actually tank people for decent amount of time.
Wrath has the best class design exept some minor stuff that may be better in some future expensions for some classes. Look at unholy dks rotten groud or the brilliant simple but indeth ret, just a beautiful expansion the people designing it overdid themselfs and where never the same
Nah, PvP was much better in MoP, Wrath was a pretty mediocre expansion all around, mostly minor improvements to TBC features, improvement in class design was by far the most important but a lot of specs were still far from good.
It is without question the worst healer in the game and its not even close. Worst throughput healing, worst burst healing, worst mana efficiency, worst survivability, worst cc, worst defensives, 2nd worst mobility?
Enhance Shaman is for me one of the most difficult class to play. The gameplay seem very stupid... But be sure that shaman has no cd to save you. You have only the wolves. When wolves and fury/heroism are finish... You are very useless! I played this class during longtime and every time frustration. Only elemental and heal are available OR Enhance shaman in v2 with a ret pal. After this class is useless...
bm hunter is easy mode im taking classes way higher level then i am with beast wrath/kill command burst in bgs.i just press my burst macro throw in a few arcane/aimed shots and its gg the pet does the rest. i will argue that ele shaman is the squishiest i seam to be getting insta nuked by every other class and cant do to much about it which i can survive on my bm hunter much longer and burst them down faster.
Destro locks easy? Bruh in WOTLK they get leaned in two seconds by almost all melee classes. On my MM hunter, all I need to do is interrupt and silence them and they die. They suffer from being squishy and having long cast times.

With destro lock you also play with fellhunter alot in arena cause of dispels.. + is hard cast not alot of instant cast
Always appreciate your videos. Thank you for all this recent content.
Can ya'll make on on skill ceiling aswell, not only how hard it is to play it. That would be great!
Skill ceiling is just how creative you get with the kit you made.

Did this man just say that enhancement shaman is the easiest melee class and name them first?
My thoughts exactly😂
Idk if you can play a mage you can play ele drop what ever totem call for the situation and use your interrupts and try and one shot someone with elemental mastery you can also heal your self
copium u know its an easy glad
Ele is a medium skill floor at best. It has a lot of room for fuck up. The best way to see it, is if you compare it to other casters, its simply the least punishing for a bad player. They cant get trained very easily, they dont have to fakecast lava burst, hex doesnt break easily.
You can always tell who really played the game and who heard it all from their big brother who also didn't play but he's been on Warmane in full 284 gear for a decade
You may disagree, but elem was the easiest dps caster class to play in wrath, and that's a fact.
13:51 pretty weird take lmao
What is that addon at 6.42 ? Your debuffs above the target's plate. One is bigger one is smaller.
i had 8 level 80 characters i pvp'd with in original wrath. as well as a high warlord sorcerer. in battlegrounds funnest is warrior paladin combo. or solo mage or warlock. in arena my favorite comp was rogue mage priest. that being said while some classes are harde/easier to play that doesnt mean it will be easy to climb the leaderboards. i agree mostly with ur rankings btw
As a Wotlk Vet, i agree with the list besides 2:
Arms is hard to master with a pretty high skill ceiling,
Shadowpriest should be placed easy, its easier than ele sham for example.
Arms (warrior more specifically) has so many abilities to make use of that it's nearly impossible to play it most effectively. Highest skill cap spec in the whole expansion

Playing as resto shaman was much more easy and fun for me than playing priest. Shamans are tankier and much more mobile - huge advantage for survivability.

Enh Shamans are far from the easiest. In fact they are one of the hardest along winth feral.
@@IShotLazer Sure but that could be said about almost every single melee on here regardless. Pop CDs and kill someone before they react at low rating.
The reason mage is the hardest class is bec they have the skillset to outplay every other class(meaning that the class have much more buttons to press if taken advantage of), also they have the best abilities in the game when it comes to cc. If you start maining mage, you will become a better pvp player in general.
Are we talking about the same game here buddy?@@warrenhammer7262
Ele bad against melee cleaves? You must be one bad ele
Ele shams are my hardest matchup as dk/warr/pally. lol.
You typed so much just to be wrong. Ele is literally the best spec in the game as you can see from ladder and tournament representation lol.
I played ele the whole original Wotlk, it was fun, but I wanna see you play it in 2s double dps, I did 2,2k+ playing ele/frost and it’s not that easy as you think

Paladins are easy to start but they are incredibly hard to play at good level. Shield for each party member, freedom for each party member same for hand and for bop and dispell. PvE 🤣
What about other mage specs? I play fire mage exclusively.
