A Fireside Chat with Monty and Peter 'Danish Pete' Honore.

This is a talk I did with Pete at the 2022 Guitar show in Birmingham. We chatted about pickups and tone and Pete played some licks. Enjoy!..or not, your choice.

You probably could have done with double the time there to talk through.. Really interesting - I was going to go for a twisted tele set for my player plus (noiseless) swapouts but may try DP51s in my Jason Isbell tele and move the Isbell pickups to the plus. That middle position is awesome - Great job (and the wax works great too!)

I bought Pete's signature pickups from Montys. installed it in a Squire tele. Better than my Fender pro tele. Much better!

I have Pete's set in my Nash T. They are the best tele pickups I've played.

Just to clarify: Per Fender's spec's Pete's Twisted Tele pickup is not wound with different wire than other Fender Twisted Tele pickups. That said Monty's absolutely nailed the Twisted Tele tone...VERY similar to the one in my MIM Baja Tele, which sounds VERY similar to the custom shop version CS Telecaster Custom Pro.

Thank man, the TT is a great pickup and it's great that you can hear the similarities. The neck pickup in Pete's Tele was wound with a red poly wire not the HF wire Fender have in the specs of the TT, it is the same 42awg copper wire but the coating plays a part in the shape of the coil, HF making typically a bigger coil than poly or enamel wire. This changes the mids slightly. Cheers M
