OK. I have an old tele-knock off that I have worked on and I am watching all these upgrade videos for ideas and I have to tell you that you are cracking me up. You clearly love your work and love guitars and it's so much fun (and educational) watching you. That's it, just thanks. please keep making videos. Also say hi to the captain next time you see him ;)
I can just agree with it. i also use the 5 way loom with a set of montys and it's fantastic! apart from the great pickups, the loom is simply worth the money! love the 1st position 🤩
I’m just gonna take it that you made this especially for me and my new 5 way loom I received a few weeks ago can’t wait for the next episode that’ll be my next project
I had a fender usa CS strat and it sounded perfect , i sold it , but it had very rich lows , woody lows, and a woody but chimey highs. I still have ave 2x mij strats that are lovely , I have upgraded to fat 50 and a gilmour set.... would your wiring kit help the fat 50 mij strat get closer to the CS or is it the choice of woods and eay or was made that gave it that tone ? The mij with fat 50s sounds 70% there tbh but i wonder if this upgrade will help before i take the plunge again as they are so pricey
Hey dear chap, Before doing anything, I'd recommend making sure that your guitars are set up properly and the same way as your CS strat or as close as you can remember. This makes a huge difference to the sound. It's all the parts coming together that make the overall sound of the guitar. As you have already upgraded the pickups it would be the next natural step to upgrade the wiring and components
Good video. I'm tempted to hack in an upgrade to my MIM Telecaster. Just finished watching Part 2. I'm guessing made in Mexico teles are all imperial and you don't have the same hole size issues. On a side note I'd suggest dumping some links to the web pages for the loom and pickups in the description for peoples that just come across this video randomly looking for Tele install stuff.
Thanks for the heads up. I'll make sure they are in there. And yes MIM stuff is 99.9% imperial you get the random oddity but they are few and far between
Hi bro. I just purchased the 5 way tele loom. My Bridge pickup is a stacked hum-bucker and has a red, green, black, white, and silver wire. How do I need to wire that up? Thank you I’m super excited to get this build going.
Hey Bryan, Thanks so much for ordering a 5 way. Drop an email to mail@montysguitars.com with the make and model of the pickups you have and we can get you up and rocking. Cheers M
You need to seperate off the metalwork from the pickup coil for this wiring to work properly. Cut the little wire that runs from the baseplate to the eyelets on the bridge pickup, and the wire that runs from the cover to the eyelets on the neck pickup and attach seperate earth wires for them. Cheers M
Hey, sorry for the delayed reply, the string ground is the wire that connects electrical components to the strings so when you put your hands on the strings any interference should go away (almost) which loom did you get?

Thanks Chris I'm so glad you are liking them. I've been crazy busy lately hence no new ones but we should be back up to speed making more.
I use the 5 way loom with a set of full montys. Turned a bullet tele into a monster. Love it and everything Montys does.

I have one of these in my tele along with a set of DP pickups , so easy to install
I always look forward to these videos, Thanks Matt!

This guy is like someone told an AI to make a normal version of Rob Beckett.

What a cool mod! What is the value of the resistor that you are running off the pickup for that "fat" sound?
It depends on the pickups that you have in, but in this one, it is a 3K3
@@Montysguitarsandpickups Thanks, I'm going to experiment with this a bit. Fun video, thank you!
Just ordered the 5 way loom to pair with my Full Monty tele PUs. Here’s to hoping I don’t wreck my FMs during loom installation.😂
Thanks so much for the order man! I'm sure you'll be fine. If you run into any problems just give me a shout.
Hey Matt, what's the value of the tone cap?
Hi Nicola, it's a 0.022uf
I can’t for the life of me remember the name of the song you’re playing in this video. It’s driving me nuts
American Honey by Lady A. it's a goodn'
What mods do you have to make to the pickups? I cant work it out

Could you instal a tele loom in a strat?
I bought one of your looms and can't figure out what you mean by 'string ground" wire.
