when there is nobody else around, "DP" your Telecaster LOL
There is still no substitute for a dedicated camera operator with a pro non auto focus lens on his camera.... thought I'd had 4 double brandys, good video when in focus....
Awesome pickups, great channel, horrible camera work 😂 that constant post-stabilisation wobble 🤢
What a handsome human 🤔
He's the English Johnny Depp. *fade to Family Guy sketch about whether you'd rather sleep with Brad Pitt or Johnny Depp)*
I really can't hear the wobble!!!!!! Does anyone have any roughed out measurements or some help with the wolf tone? I'm obviously not very bright
I just installed my DP pickups. The instructions were easy to follow. The pickups are awesome!!!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! Exactly what I‘ve been looking for cause I‘m gonna replace the pups of my tele next week ... and it will be my first time 😱😏
Michael Milz an absolute pleasure dear chap. Good luck!!!
Extra wiring options... does that mean there are two coils, one RWRP and one standard? Above/below, inner/outer... darn I want to buy a set just to see how it's done.
It's a goodn' you should give it a go dear chap
@@Montysguitarsandpickups Good god old man, have you seen the exchange rate on these Australian paesos they pay us? Instead, how about I send you a system to help you setup those ramped stratocaster string heights you love so much. I'm sure you'll read the email long before you read this reply.
So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish!
I just went on your website as i an looking at getting the dp set and i noticed something. Your bridge pup uses an alnico 5 but Petes original nocaster 51 uses a alnico 3 so it's not a proper copy of his bridge pickup 🤔🤔 why did you use a alnico 5?
Hey Derek, The original pickup in Pete's purple tele wasn't a Nocaster. It looked like something different, as it had a stagger, the Gauss reading was way higher, and a few other things were different. It's a guess, but as the guitar (along with two others) was made for a trade show, the pickup was either made especially for it OR, what I think is more likely, it was just on the bench of the person who built the guitar, and they just put it in. That is why the pickup we make is the way it is. I hope that helps. Cheers Matt
@@Montysguitarsandpickups thank you very much for your reply, much appreciated Matt. It sounds nice and fat and not ear shattering ice picky. Bough a telecaster arriving today. Will be getting a set of the dp next pay day 😎
@@derekjohnson5720 It's an absolute pleasure dear chap. A new guitar day is always a great one!!!!! Enjoy.
What is that wax? Where can i buy?
It is our Instrument Food fretboard conditioner. You can get it directly from us at www.montysguitars.com
Hi Matt, I have the DP’s now about a year. After changing the wiring to cloth wiring, vintage pots and a paper in oil caps they sound magical!! I have CS fat 50’s in my Strat. There is no comparison. The Strat sound so much better.
I have one question. Do you advice a treble bleed?
You could actually call these DP-51’s Deep Purple. Ha ! I’m waiting on my set now. Patiently
Love this!! Such great pickups!
Lovely tone! They're on my wishlist! Where can I buy that awesome big screwdriver/who makes it?
I’m looking to use these pickups with the Obsidian 4 way Tele selector...what’s the wiring configuration? Thanks
Hi mate, did you ever find out?
Great video, nice clear and relaxed presentation. Nice work folks!
Just got my set-amazing packaging and presentation-just wow! Thanks! Now I need to muster the courage to do the install. Will let you know how it went.
You can do it!
Just ordered a set for my maple Select Tele. What string material and gauge do you recommend though a Deluxe Reverb?
I'm a fan of elixir 10-52s' but I'm quite heavy handed sometimes from memory Pete uses 10s'
LOVED your video Sir!!! I'm a huge Danish Pete fan and your video is spectacular! Question for you Sir: The DP pickups could be installed on ANY Telecasters? Same procedure? Thank you for your answer :)
Purple tone, Purple tone, Only wanna hear you playing, with your purple tone....
Searched for DP on YouPr0n. Got different results!! 🤔
@4:47 love the solder ball creating its first bit of relicing
Whole lotta phrasing in this video... lol
Great video!! Just get a new camera man :P
i love you content man.
Poor George, is he really ok as we don’t see him get up at the end!? 😂
Wish I had this a month ago - was set a bit off having 3 wires from each pickup, when the schematics I had only showed there should be 2. Figured it out eventually. Aaanyway, love the pickups!!
So what did you do with the spare wire from each pick up please?
Great video chaps, have a question tho, why not start with the bridge pick up when balancing the pick ups? I have always balanced the Bridge first as it’s normally closer to the strings, therefore going to effect the pull more. Then balance the other 1 or 2 pick ups from there. Wait as I wrote this just thought of the science behind it, guessing it’s because the neck pick up has the biggest oscillation of the string above it? Anyway always learning so would love to hear your theory behind it.
GCH Guitar Stuff thanks for your kind words dear chap. The main reason for starting with the neck pickup is that it’s easier for the magnet to have an effect on the movement on the string there. The nearer the bridge you go the harder it is to move the string, and this allows you to have the magnets closer before they start being interfering little blighters.
What happens if you put montypresso on a maple neck/fretboard like that?
Montypresso needs bare wood to work and get into the grain.
I whant tu put these pickup in my performee telecaster what you think about this idea ??
Cause the vintera 50 scares me with the big U neck
