The harness, wow!!!!!!!!! I'm obsessed! Love your videos. Our styles are totally different but I think because of that's it's refreshing to watch your videos and you inspire me so much. I love your personality and that you're not afraid to experiment with new styles and a new look. So happy to see you upload so regularly lately and thank you for being you
I love your videos. Im working on embellishing plaid flannel shirts with interesting patches, lace , trinkets etc. I collect the shirts from charity shops. I also just finished an embellished blue jean jacket with a cowboy theme ( i live in Montana).
Hello Scarlett. I'm a great fan of your channel. I love your creativity and the way you work. I'm French and I practise upcycling with many different things, my favorite at the moment being old porcelaine plates made into jewels (pendants and rings). You have an example in my picture. But, just like you, I use fabric from my own wardrobe or charity shops to create new clothes. I tried your towel dress and it turned out.... well, not as nice as yours but I love the idea so much! I had already done what I call patchwork dresses but straighter without any ruffles. Your last plans about the 20s - 30s style is very inspiring. WE call this period "années folles" in France. Art déco is part of it. I love the Chinese fabric that you presented and the bird cushion... Wouaw ! I 've been following you for a while and I wanted to thank you because you're a very creative, interesting and inspiring person. Wish you luck and success with your New plans. Brigitte
I love your book of ideas ...dream and thoughts have a better chance of becoming reality with a visual plan...love the red dress with draw strings ...you held up the book fast ...but I think the red fabric would look so cute in that milkmaid, drawstring creation
the really thin eyebrow was popular in the 70's as well and the Biba look in the late 60's and early 70's which I realllly love. 70's Bohemia here in the us as well.
Thank you for your video and sharing with us, all the way from WA State, USA. I have a hideous sweater- dress I want to upcycle into a beautiful piece. The sweater material is sooo cozy. I feel like a chunky dress with a cowel neck would be nice and I want to make a pair of black jeans. I'm 58 and I've been sewing since I was about 7 yrs old. It gives me peace and helps me slow down and focus.
Scarlet I love all your projects and fabrics, I can't wait to see them come to life. I have some vintage 70s seersucker fabric which I plan to make into summer PJs for my daughter and myself and a beautiful batik print that will make a lovely robe.
I started patchworking 3 years ago and i love the technic of foundation paper piecing. The butterfly is a very difficult project for a beginner, but it looks very good. I am interessed what you gonna do with it. I also have a lot of projects in my mind and every week there will be a new one (thanks RUclips).
Colouring books are a fantastic resource for design ideas! I find that its often one element on a whole page that stands out, be it a single flower or leaf shape, an animal or pattern, but ones like the Art Nouvau/Deco books are fantastic. And never to be coloured in........!
I constantly upcycle denim into other garments and items., between other dress projects. I also knit jumpers and sox. The jumpers are usually just one per season and for myself. Cos I only knit one jumper a year, I take so...long to decide on which pattern to make.. im slow like that with sewing too..take ages to decide. I show most of my makes on my own channel ..I really love watching you chat about your creative process ❤
I love paper piecing. I haven't patchworked and quilted for awile, 20+ years, but I do have a Quilt for my granddaughter, a crazy patchwork quilt for a friend and an iris quilt for myself to make. I'm also planning my new wardrobe of separates and summer dresses and the rest of my plans are a bit of embroidery and making junk journals to sell. I'm looking forward to watching you bloom into your new style. Have fun!!
Once again...can't wait to see your projects come to life! You truly give me inspiration 💜 I was working on a quilted patchwork hoodie...spent many days watching videos while cutting and sewing, and cutting and sewing lol. I've put it up for a couple days because i got to the hood (last piece) and it didn't fit just right😥 Very frustrating! I'll get it back out after the holiday and finish it. Yeah, I've got lots of ideas ....most all are patchwork pieces.
Thank you! Oh I HATE when that happens 🙈 I’ve made so many things without testing the fit and get annoyed at myself for not taking the time to toile something beforehand haha 😂
I tried to do paper piecing with my students but we gave up! We reverted to applique instead. I love the grape design linen. The way you had on yourself looked good - like a kimono style. I have those pattern magic books and it's something I have been wanting to do for a long time - maybe you have just given me the push to try! I have 3 weeks left of the term and then I have 2 weeks off - so maybe then. The Japanese floral fabric is gorgeous. I did a corset making course once but we ran out of time and never finished it! :( it's a lot of measuring and toiling. Love the videos.
Yes I totally underestimated the time needed for paper piecing 😂🙈 aw I hope you get a chance to use the books, I made a circle top once and hope to makr another soon!
Hey kiddo! Leesa from across the pond-BC, Canada (East Kootenays area)! I just wanted you to know that I absolutely love you and your channels, your creativity...LOVE your butterfly and good for you challenging yourself! You have wonderful intuition ie, Japanese pattern/material awesome...I just wanted to send hugs, ta for now :)
As someone who tried making youtube videos pre-covid, don't even worry about those ermms and ummms! Its part of the charm. When we get to be authentically ourselves it makes the videos we create feel like hanging out body doubling and being creative with a friend! XO
I’m a crocheter and knitter. I love your videos and I watch them while I’m working on a project. Currently working on a warm poppy colored wrap for my mom.
Love listening to all of your ideas. My projects in order are finishing 30 book pocket children’s pillows for my upcoming Fall craft shows, completing 3 more reversible men’s vests for a custom order, perfecting my plus size vintage linens pinafore so I can make 6 more for Fall shows and my Etsy shop, and upcycling my denim and men’s shirts into dungaree dresses. After those I hope to get back to upcycled duster jackets as cooler months approach.
So excited to see your future projects. So many cool ones! Very inspiring. As far as my projects: 1)I'm upcycling a too-small red satin maxi dress from Target into a babydoll tunic with white lace and bows 2)I'm making my pirate Halloween costume with a red striped skirt and a white peasant blouse and 3) I'm making a kimono with Japanese indigo print fabric for a bathrobe.
Pronounced silk due-pee-on 😂 My wedding dress was made out of this because I didn’t want to be shiny 😅 it had quite a bit of lace and beading embellishment on the front of it so your needle turn appliqué will work fine. If you use a milliners (or straw) needle with a small eye it won’t leave a really big hole in the fabric. Oh Lordy you’re brave with foundation paper piecing and you’ve done a great job. Well done! I’m currently hand piecing a Jen Kingwell tempter called “I pink I love you” with all of the pinks I can find around the place and using up some very well worn vintage doileys in it. I think I’m going to end up with enough to make 2 quilts if I don’t stop soon.
Thank you so much for the update! I'm very excited for what you have coming up. Thanks for asking about our projects, I'm really into the quilted style right now too and just finished a quilted/patchwork heart purse you can see pictures of on my RUclips. Hope it's inspiring to you and I know watching you, especially with all the amazing colors you use, totally inspires me. ❤
I love love paper piecing. I use freezer paper (buy at the grocery store). You print your pattern onto the none wax side. Remember the pattern is backwards when sewn. I iron my fabric onto the block 1. Trim on block 2 side and put the cut 2 fabric upside down facing block 1. Stitch with small stitches. Press. You can stick glue fabric in place if a small piece. Trim at fabric 3 edge. Repeat. At the end you pull of the freezer paper and it’s quick quick quick as you have not stitched on it. Loving your RUclips. Cannot wait to see your next project being created or completed. I have my first granddaughter and she is 3. My daughter wants me to make her dresses. I quilt and crochet.
Hi Did you make the top you are wearing? I love the material it’s a lovely design as well. Very useful to see your sketches as well. I love art nouveau style (1920s). Love your style! 🥻👘
Love your ideas! Especially the butterfly paper piecing 😍 I am working on a few projects. They are all going to be second versions of patterns I'm testing for lovely pattern makers! First I have a shirt that I'm making out of a thrifted floral curtain. It's the Perennial Blouse by Sewnwithgrit, and is a cute crop top. Then I'm making a matching green skirt out of a thrifted cotton sheet with the Saturday skirt pattern by Cayden Naughton. It has lovely pointed yoke pieces. Lastly I'm making a Sonata set by Yoannas studio out of a gorgeous plaid tablecloth I thrifted. It has heart shaped pockets! I have made all these patterns once, and have some ideas to alter some of them to fit my body better. I'm very excited! Thanks for sharing all your plans!
Dear Scarlett, well, there is a decent amount of projects waiting on my to-sew-list. And honestly - there are new ones to be added nearly every day 🤭🤫 When I am having time again, I want to get back to quilting and bring all the upcycling ideas that I have in mind to live. Additionally I want to learn to sew clothing - for me and also for all the kids from my friends and be more active on insta and social media with the things I make. Maybe even creating a new account for that. I'd also like to have a stock of small handmade gifts that I can take with me as a thank you for e.g. invitations. Currently I am working on a EPP hexie project (a reeeaaally sloooooow one....) and I am embroidering on some cheap felt circles to put under glasses/mugs for Christmas (missing the right word right now). Not sure If they will be finished this Christmas - but any Christmas for sure. 😂 xoxo from Germany Stephanie
The paper piecing tested my patience for sure…not sure if I can do slow slow projects 😂 love how you’re preparing for Christmas already! Look forward to seeing what you make!🌸
wonderful to hear about your projects. my next project is turning a lovely thrifted, striped cotton beach towel into a top modeled after my favorite and most-worn summer top. Do you have any tips or trix when making a pattern from an existing garment?
Yes 🙌 is you have old bedding or linen, lay the piece over the garment you want to copy then pin and trace! Make sure to remember seam and hem allowances because I’ve definitely remade something without these and the fit was all off 😂🙈

Of course you can wear my style of clothing! There’s no rules 😉✨ yeah I might have to rethink the eyebrows if the hair doesn’t grow back haha!😂 thank you!
