    Love all the doilies and linen. Such unique pieces that I haven't seen anything like before. Also the buttons from Woolworths. A lovely piece of history.

    I think the fabric is tailor's horsehair interfacing, used to support the folds in the collar ,etc.

    • @Judith-wq2jp
      @Judith-wq2jp Месяц назад +1

      Yes, I've run into it when taking apart men's Scottish wool tweed jackets to reclaim the wool. So many layers of cloth, interfacing and padding to build up the shoulders, it's really complex.

    All I could think of was that the material had something to do with horses so glad Dianna mentioned tailors horsehair interfacing.
    Gorgeous embroidered piece though.
    Some lovely things in your haul Christine. We are buying all the op shops out! 😂🎉

    Awesome haul Christine love them all, and great eye for what you're looking for. I removed wax off fabric by using a sheet of brown paper at the bottom, lay the fabric that has
    the wax on and another sheet on stop and use a warm iron no steam and iron it, the wax melts to the brown paper, lift up to make sure the wax has melted to the paper and remove.
    Hope that helps. Huge Hugs xx

    Thank you Christine for your video and sharing your amazing haul with us. It is so lovely that you can still find these goodies in the secondary market. I know you say you have a lot, but you need to get them when you see them as they don't hang around for long. It's not as if you are not using them. Those blanket pieces are superb and definitely a couple of throws in their future. I never got to stitch last weekend so I am going to try this weekend to watch your other videos. See you soon 😂

    Another gorgeous haul. I love the cottage, and those pieces of wool blankets are gorgeous. I'm sure you'll do something fabulous with them. When I first saw your video come up with the crewel book I thought you must have read my mind. I've been thinking about some new cushions and more or less decided that for this time of year crewel work and its lovely rich colours would be nice. However it's at the end of a long list of things I want to do 😂

    That is an epic haul! It’s amazing to see how many beautiful things you got, and so much variety!
    Those buttons are lovely. Definitely a worthy addition to your collections!
    The blanket at 37:45 with the satiny edging, my parents used to have a few blankets with edging like that. I always found them a bit odd, but I guess there was a fashion at the time. They were never expensive blankets, so I wonder it it was for fray resistance?

    • @createandcraftwithchristine
      @createandcraftwithchristine  Месяц назад +1

      Yes. The satin edging seems common on many vintage blankets (but new ones too) so I think your theory might be right. So looking forward to getting stitching with this lot 🤗 cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡

    More lovely goodies TFS Christine . I’ve told Sally I’m not buying anything more until the new year … no fabric related stuff or paper crafting unless it’s essential . Ummm one week gone (I’m not counting ) haven’t bought a thing didn’t even go in to the charity shops why we have been out , hubby was very happy 🤨

We mainly focus on a lovely shared meal at Christmas with our family rather than gifts these days as so many already have everything they need so I don’t mind buying myself gifts 😆 cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡

    I love your Thrifty Thursday, Christine. Makes me envious as our thrift ships in QLD are now so expensive, I just don’t go there.
    Would you please give me some advice, I’m wanting to do some You tubes of my craft and I tried study however not so successful. What editor do you use? I can’t work out how to add quite a few small videos to make one up load to RUclips . Best regards, Kaylee.

    • @createandcraftwithchristine
      @createandcraftwithchristine  Месяц назад +1

      Hi Kaylee - it’s sad that it’s getting so expensive - that’s why I purchase when I can 🤗 I look forward to seeing your videos and the promo gram I use for editing or stitching together videos is iMovie on my iPad or iPhone. It’s pretty intuitive to use which is good. The only challenges are you need plenty of extra space on your device to be able to save the combined video and it does take a bit of time to save and also seems to take longer to load to RUclips than a single take video that you haven’t edited. Shout out if you have any other questions regarding iMovie and let me know when your video is up 🤗

      @@createandcraftwithchristine hi Christine, thank you. I have now created my first YOU TUBE however I think the upload was a fluke, it took me a few hours to work out how to upload it from the iMovie app. I don’t know how to use iMovie too much but have managed to upload it. My you tube name is “Krafty Kaylee Kreations” @kayleehealy8406. Please be kind if you comment, I’m sure you will, I sounds terrible and didn’t know what to say, fingers crossed I’ll get better ongoing. I have now purchased a camera arm which I will use doing some hand stitching next time…. Cheers kaylee
