I gotta say guys, if you’re looking into hotshot, thinking about it for any reason, running numbers on paper and trying to figure out if you should lease on or grab an authority, you gotta go back and watch prior videos on this channel cuz it’s all covered in detail!! I’d say 75% or more of this info I used to start my business back in March was from Tim and his wife (sorry I forgot your name), and I’ve been in this industry for a lot of years with a lot of broker/customer knowledge and how to get your own freight, and I still used everything I could get my hands on to make the right decisions. People need to understand is you need to have direct customers. You can use the load boards to fill in in between deliveries.Every load you take from the load boards talk to the shipper and see if they need a transportation company to haul their freight.

    • @HotshotMacc
      @HotshotMacc  8 месяцев назад +1

      I agree and disagree at the same time. Could you imagine what would happen if every hotshot were to gain a direct shipper or attempt to. Those rates will plummet as well. There just need to be a balance vs the market being saturated. And seeking a relationship after signing a contract with a broker is a potential breach to the contract so you have to be strategic in how you seek a relationship. Shippers and brokers have tight relationships and that could cost a company to be black listed by the broker. Seek relationships but be smart about how you do it.

    My confusion on getting into this business is seeing all these RUclips truckers posting all these hot shot trucking is terrible now and I quit. Then I go to watch them and see what the issue is and nothing different is said than the other guys are saying & on top of that nobody is actually quitting. Im genuinely confused on if this is something worth getting into or not at this point. I looked at it as an opportunity for financial freedom and now it’s just starting to look like I way to get locked into some debt for me. 😩

    • @HotshotMacc
      @HotshotMacc  6 месяцев назад

      Fist thing I can say is to never base your decision off what you see on RUclips. Study the market and learn what’s happening with supply and demand when it comes to this industry. You will hear different opinions from ppls experiences and if you don’t do the proper research you can definitely find yourself in some serious debt. The market right now is very volatile. Trucking is tough right now for everyone. If you have some serious capital, a team, and great relationships it’s possible to make things happen. But in your first couple years of business you may not see a huge return bc you are pouring everything back into the business. Come in with an plan to have more options than just the truck to bring in revenue. What you see on RUclips may look easy but there is a ton of leg work happening in the back office that you typically won’t see a trucker showing or talking about. Research, research, research and maybe choose someone to do a consultation to get more info than what you see on RUclips. Investing in yourself will also help you to avoid mistakes.

  • @wetbasementeco709
    @wetbasementeco709 8 месяцев назад

    Responding as you say trucking is same as other business good and bad , the answer is not other business not have middle man , in trucking drivers are loosing money brokers are making more money the ever bacause they know you got to do loads no matter what you got truck payments insurance trailer payments they are no stup.... men they know you will get it cheap this isnt goin better many trucks available now the magic words are " TAKE IT OR LIVE IT I GOT A DRIVER WILL DO FOR LESS GOOD BLESS TRUCK DRIVERS

    • @HotshotMacc
      @HotshotMacc  8 месяцев назад

      That is very true and I believe that has been happening for the longest! It’s unfortunate and it’s gotten saturated. However in many other industries there are many hands trying to take a piece of the pie (the middle men) and that’s why relationships are key and should be a goal but it’s not for everyone. There is always someone trying to compete and undercut to earn business and that bring the value down. This happens everywhere. Truckers unfortunately have allowed the brokers to have the upper hand by thinking we need them when in reality they need us. Until the majority understands that, it will continue to decline.

  • @bayboy1967
    @bayboy1967 8 месяцев назад

    I blame RUclips’s. When freight was up a couple of years ago. Everyone had a RUclips channel showing how much money they was making. So everyone got into trucking. It’s called boom or bust. It was booming. Now it’s a bust. Those who have saved and put there money back into the business are the ones who are making it out here.

    • @HotshotMacc
      @HotshotMacc  8 месяцев назад

      I hear that and RUclipsrs have definitely had an effect but the economy is not where it’s at bc of RUclipsrs. We actually try to share and educate ppl to do things the right way. Unfortunately ppl do not take the info and do further research. They see the money and go just after that. If anything RUclips helps and if there was no RUclips it would just be word of mouth and that can spread like wild fire as well. So I don’t think there’s anyone to blame more than the brokers.

    Trucking is a race to the bottom!! Every factor that affects your bottom line you can’t control. Absolute waste of time. Allocating your time on the road for Pennies is a joke.drivers call brokers with zero leverage….then try to “negotiate”. If you’re in the trucking business and can’t rely on the business you’re in to survive then it’s not a good business. It’s more of a price thing why trucks are staying in this failing industry. The writing is on the wall. Only felons should be condemned to trucking. If you have a clean record you have no business in trucking. It’s a joke!
