- I'll admit it. I'm a prime snob. In moving from Canon to Samsung, I was worried about lens selection. While it's certainly not as robust as Canon's first party offerings, Samsung has some really decent glass to play with. Let's check out one of the wider lenses available for this APS-C shooter!

On video mode there is a button to switch between manual and auto focus on back of camera, Hope it will help
Juan, unlike most gadget people, including the ones from major tech sites and magazines that take the official photos, you actually seem to know cameras and proper settings very well. Lots of sage advice here. Awesome job!
And it is a very nice camera system. Just picked up an NX500. I hope Samsung remains in this market. They're disrupting the camera market at least on par with Sony, if not more in some ways. Hopefully they stay in, and if they do -- step up their stabilization game a bit... more primes with stabilization (only the 60mm prime has it, but it's a bit loud I hear), in body 5 axis, etc.
+docstowatch You know, I've never understood why we don't see more primes with OIS. The only fixed focal length lenses that usually have it are macro lenses. Just strikes me kinda odd that people often like to use primes for low light / wide aperture shots, why not also have a little shake protection to boot?
Great video... I own nx300 with the 20mm pancake lens. Photos is super amazing but in video the lens start losing focus or hard to focus in AF mode... Any suggestions?
Hi Juan,
Hope you could make sooner a review on the 50-200mm f/4-5.6 OIS III sooner...By the way, this review again is very nice...
Thanks and keep it up!
eTups B I'll see what I can do about that :-)
is there a such thing as 0.5 m to sideways 8
how is the focus noise on the lens?
Great review! How is this lens on the NX1? Been considering this over GH4, as then I won't need a metabones speedbooster to remove the GH4's awful 2.3x crop in 4k ;).
It's a nice piece of glass, though the auto focus might be a bit loud for video, and I think pancakes are difficult to work into video production when trying to use things like follow focus. Very nice image quality though.
How is this lense for interior shots? I am a real estate agent and just ordered the Samsung DX500.
+Salty Abandon It's good. It's wide, but there's not a lot of distortion. The aperture is wide enough to get some good interior lighting shots without having to jack up the ISO (though I would still recommend a tripod). It's nice sharp glass for the price.
Kan det film
Hi may i know if the 30mm f2.0 lens make a loud mechanical voice when focusing?
He does say there's a high freq chirp sometimes. Doesn't sound too bad (typical of ultrasonic lenses), especially if you've decoupled the mic. It's a matter of contrast. Certainly superior to fully mechanical lenses with their gears and machinations.
Do you still have the NX30, and would you still recommend it in 2016/2017? I know the Samsung NX camera system is dead but some of their lenses and cameras are selling for good prices.
So how's the NX30? Are the pictures good? And more importantly, is the video good? I don't really care for 4k but I am looking for a capable video camera that can allow me to shoot in slow motion and potentially grade-able videos.
I bought a NX300 for a ridiculous price (18-55 kit) and the 30mm f/2 for 220€ (both brand new) nine mounth ago and this 16mm lens for 110€ (second hand) and I'm super happy.
@@neletgi bought also pretty cheap recently nx3000, nx300, nx1000 and nx1 and many lenses for them.
Any idea how it'd compare with the Rokinon 12mm f/2.0?
Philippe Orlando I don't know sorry. I've been trying to get my hands on one or a samyang to try out.
thanks
Have you tried milky way shots yet? I would love to see how this does before I purchase one. Nothing out on the internet for an actual MW shot with this specific lens yet--- be the first! 8 D
+lisa c It's great for astro shots
the more I use Samsung Galaxy NX, the more I appreciate Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge AF which is miles ahead Samsung NX's AF...
