Stunning value for money. I built my own 5" 6" and it was a bit over £200 in parts, although that bought Xing 2208 (not E) motors and an F7 stack (Diatone F722) with zero video noise. Oh, and an all important ViFly lost model buzzer! I'm going to recommend this to anybody who will listen!
Great review as usual Andy. I personally think 1750-1800kv is the sweet spot for 5” 6s for both racing and freestyle. But that’s just my opinion. I do find 1750 tho at least on my setups to be pretty efficient with 1800 just slightly less flight time in my testing. I mean the most I’ve seen was only a 17 second flight time difference. Now on a race rig for high level competition I’d say 1860kv is perfect. IMO. I will say I love the xing motors the 2208 1700’s I have are great just wish I would’ve gone with the 1800 on those. The xing 2207 1800’s I love on the one race rig I have them on. The twin to that rig has some xilo 2207 1750’s and the xing’s are definitely faster. My lap times on the xing rig are anywhere from half a sec to 4 seconds faster. Same frame props, and internals just diff motors. 👍 keep up the great videos mate.

I noticed there the Rx antenna straws had little nicks in them as the props are really really close that when they flex up a few mill, they catch the straws. Eventually the one got chopped when I punched out for a LOS hover. I’m surprised it hasn’t been mentioned before. Has no one else had this issue and if so, then where to mount the antennas?
I just ordered the 4S and know nothing about drones. I thought I could just install a battery, bind and fly. I didn't realize there were so many settings to change. I predict mine will never fly. :-(
no no..you watch a video or two...its not as bad as it seems..and once you get in the air its all worth it :)
I recommend to first buy a cheap drone and just understand how a drone works and if you like it after that you could upgrade to a more serious drone

Your reviews really are a cut above the rest. (I think I've watched pretty much every review for this quad) So much detail and information, no other reviewer comes close. I might of bought this quad as it looks immense for the price, however I have recently built a very similar specced Source one. So close it's scary. I did steal your PIDs and for the record it flys so much better than it did with stock settings. 👍

The iFlight board looks like it has TWO dedicated jst plugs, front and back of the board labled for 5v, gnd and LED, so could add led’s to each, or add a buzzer to either.

Great quad! Have you tried it on 4s? I can't decide which one to order 6s or 4s version, so far i have only 4s batteries so will fly on 4s, but i want to have possibility to try 6s.
Get the 6s. I fly 4s batteries on my 6s all the time. Eventually you'll want 6s drivetrain

the dji module will fit in most things but for me its all about getting the props out of shot and u would get them in shot here

Great review! I love Iflight frames. They've been my go to frame choice for about 6 months now. I've got the IH3 and the HL5. Both frames are my go to's for favourite 3 & 5 inch. Really nice carbon and the quality is what i'd say a premium product😊. I love there stacks too. I'm slowly replacing my old hglrc stacks out for the succeX ones. Waiting for a 20mm f7 twin gyro stack to come through, pretty awesome stuff. Exactly the same as the geprc stack but a little cheaper if you buy it direct from Iflight.
Thanks for the review. What questions should I be asking myself to decide between the current v2 version in 4S vs 6S? I'm assuming the tune is different and know the motors are different so it's not like I can just put 4S on the 6S model and have it fly like the 4S using the recommended 4S.

Ordered a 4S through your link and the coupon. Thank you for the review and the coupon! Is the only difference between the 4S and the 6S the motors and tune? Thinking of moving into 6S but the budget did not allow buying all new 1500mah 6S batteries to last a flight day. Darn they are expansive still.

I hope it is nice tune too. Do you know if switching props-out to props-in will affect the behaviour and need to change PID ? Thanks !
My pids are for the 6s version only. Id say that the 4s version would need a different tune. In not noticed a difference between props in or out myself

thanks yeah I should start showing when they go wrong to make you feel better haha. put it this way iv fallen out of those trees a lot and hurt myself... worth it haha. sometimes its just not possible depending on the wind direction as you fall it pushes you into them and that when you break an arm getting it back... not the quads arm either haha

Dont mess with the Spektrum Guys like me .... Just kiddin... Spektrum Guys use a spm4650 like i do. its a bit struggle to get it run because of srxl2 but it is worth the work. This receiver works great.. I was getting failsaves with the 4649 but not yet any with the 4650. i was able to fly around a building with it in the Phantom toothpick. 4650 great receiver:)

@@AndyRCchannel Just ordered one :D I'm not a super aggressive pilot and I prefer to cruise. So I think 1500 mah would be good balance between weight and agility. Considering also 1800 but I think it might be too much. What you reckon best choice would be for a person that likes to cruise and doesn't do anything crazy? What flight times i can expect from 1300/1500/1800 ? It's my first 5' drone as any advice would be priceless :)

Hi HumbleHeartMinistry, I am a newbie in fpv drone and got the 4S Nazgul5 w frsky r-xsr receiver. When I power with battery, there is a blue blinking light. I've set up my frsky qx7 transmitter model to bind but still blue blinking light. Can any kind soul enlight me how to bind the drone here?
Great review Andy, I'm bummed, I needed a 6s fs rig so the 6s batteries I bought for that crap wizard hv didn't go to waste and couldn't find a descent rtf so I built one, it cost $150 more than this one to build, and you've got this flying better than mine(i'm a crap tuner) now I wish I would have waited!
Dont be hard on yourself. Buy what you want to fly now or you will be waiting for ever. Maybe your build has better components if it cost more and just needs a good tune. Try the betaflight 4 stocks they are designed for this kind of model
... nazgouls are those dragon-like creatures, used as scouts/hunter in the search for the halflings - I think :-) ...

I have a 4s 5" build already but want a backup quad.. But also want to try 6s.. This quad looks perfect in both versions especially for the same price.. Is there any downside to the 6s over the 4?

Nicely engineered copter Andy, I can see why you love it...Shame about the GoPro being underexposed again, is this why the call it the Black Edition...lol..?...Their firmware engineers need to come live in Britain, instead of constant sunshine.
you know i think the session 5 did better in those conditions.. shame none of mine turn on and people have even stopped making mounts for them now just like this case.
Hey Andy! You don't have any trouble with the Skystars aluminum motor shafts? I had 2 break off as I was trying to take a prop off, and you really can't tighten then too much because they snap off.
not at all in fact this quad has taken the most beating i have ever done with a quad and no problems. maybe too heavy handed? dont think iv ever had a motor shaft snap on me
@@AndyRCchannelI don't think I did it, the 1st 2 snapped off taking them off, the 3rd i was very careful checking to see when the prop was tight enough to stop spinning. I don't know that yours are aluminum, mine is the GL730 with 2306/1700kv Skystars motors. After mine broke I talked to several people that had the same issue, so it could have just been those motors.

id go 6s for future proof. People say 4s lipos are cheaper but thats only because cheap brands make 4s lipos and its only the high end brands making 6s lipos at the moment but if you take tha tattu rline 4s lipos and compare the equivilent 6s the prices are the same. So if you want to cheap out on lipos go for the 4s but i think the future is 6s

per and more common. I've only flown 4s on the X220hv so far and really feel the need to upgrade. Hence thinking the Nazgul 6s would be a perfect upgrade. Cheers Andy!
Hi Andy, for long range purposes will this 6s version get longer fight time if I use 4s li-ion battery on the 6s version, since the kv of 6s version is lower than the 4s version
Hello Andy. I didn’t see a crossfire receiver option. But in the pictures it shows the crossfire tpu on it. Will it come with tpu even if we can only get a frsky receiver?

Sounds great! I would like one . So hey the gopro footage seems to shift slowly in light conditions is that a setting issue or hardware issue. I am currently in the market for an upgrade for a dead session myself! I fear the run-cam and foreseer products are cheap feeling in comparison to a gopro. As well as lower performing.
its a uk weather issue, go pro should come to the uk to calibrate their dynamics lol

The 2019 star lord runs up to 5s and has a Flysky receiver which I’m using after my Batman was stolen and I need a replacement. For freestyle and cinematic flying if you had to use only one forever would the nazgal or the star lord make you happier ?
Hi Andy I have just bought the iflight cidora sl5-e which is virtually identical to the nazgul 5 when I arm the quad with air mode permanently enabled when i throttle up Motors spin and when I lower the throttle they don't stop they get faster and it wants to fly too the moon I turn air mode off it's ok but I get the drop out on acro I want air mode on permanently how do I fix this please??
Hai Andy... i have my micro drone already, but after this im looking for 5inch freestyle quad, I have 4, 5inch on my top list as this Iflight Nazgul 6s version, HGLRC Sector5 V2, Skystar Star lord 228 and,or Skystar ST225. which one was the best one out of this 4, five inch freestyle version?? and btw now you have 2 of Starlord 228 model now.. there something special there.. #chearss

I do hiking and sometimes at the top of mountains it is very windy, or is better to avoid to use it in those circumstances? Thanks
From personal experience, all quads handle the wind just fine ... it is up to the pilot to ensure they take it into account when flying close to objects.
I got the Nagul 5 4s and it won`t bind. I am using the Jumper T8SG V2 Plus Transmitter and it has the FrSky R-XSR Receiver. I have tried all the protocols ( Frsky, Frsky-V8, Frsky X) that are in the Jumper and none work. I hooked it up to BetFlight and in Configuration in Serial Receiver Provider it says, S-BUS in the
Receiver Mode it says, Serial based Receiver. I then tried to bind with Jumper set to SBus in protocols and nothing! It is going into bind mode when i press button and plug in battery? And it came with no manual. I would be very thankful for any help you could offer! Thank You!
hey Andy, please change your Gopro metering setting to spot metering, you'll have better exposure :)

The flight time is due to how I'm flying it. If you are expecting any model flown like this to even get over 3 mins you are misinformed. It would fly for 7 mins at beginner pace.. but not a beginner model

Awesome video, And can I please get some help. In Betaflight 10.6.0, when i connect to my Nasgul5, in the PID Tuning page i don't get "D Min" or "PID controller settings" showing up. All I get is "basic acro" and "Angle/Horizon". Please help!

I dont think so. its the same components with the motors swapped for the higher KV. so they will be the same except the lipo will sag more on the 4s

nm. just saw this question asked a few posts down. but with the capacitor in the rear of the FC, that might be in the way so it might not fit the way I'd like it.
@@edpaguia8504 id say yes with ESCs on the arms but with the longer arms you will get the props in shot. dont worry there will be a flurry of frames coming for that system iflight have one themselves already
@@AndyRCchannel thanks andyrc! i actually found this frame by iflight dc5 222mm that's made for the dji unit. I think I'm going to buy this Nazgul and throw it in the iflight dc5 222mmm frame. Hopefully the tune isn't too far off. btw - The iflight dc5 222mm has props not in view of camera, if you're looking for that type of dji frame :)

Hi AndyRC, I have successfully bind my qx7 to my nazgul 6s, in fact if i put battery and play with arm, switch, throttle, roll, pitch, the quad responds. but in betaflight my receiver is not detected. how can i fix this? please help thank you!
