    I love you J.B. You were one of my primary teachers that helped me get into drones and learn how to build them. I was inspired to use them in combat. It’s been evident to me for decades. Unfortunately, I’m not a real nerd so I still struggle with building drones with all the features of the designs I’ve come up with in my imagination.

    I have the Skystars Jupiter AIO and it is great - It looks like a piece of jewelry, just looks very nice. And if looks don't matter to you, so far it has been solid. I crash a lot, lot's of trying to get out of trees or needing turtle mode, and it is still here.
    I cannot say anything about how it performs for someone that is a good pilot or can really tell how good the FC/ESC perform. But for a beginner it was great, has large solder pads and solid plug connections.

    If you’re bothered by the antenna on the boxer, consider modding it to be low profile. I did it on mine and it works really well. You just connect a flexible T antenna through the existing hole and tape it to the top of the controller.

    so ive been flying the hglrc y6 for a few months now. i actually bought the one off drone camps that he reviewed. i absolutely think there are some benefits to the design. I'm getting twice the flight time on a 1300mah pack then i would for a similar sized quad. usually about 6-8mins depending on how hard i fly. I've also noticed more coast-ability at a low rpm. the yaw authority and doing hard full stick flips it definitely has a down side.

  • @CDRaff
    @CDRaff 5 месяцев назад

    1:50 The theory that the Y6's pitch authority only coming from the rear motors would have to rely on the center of mass and center of lift both being inline with the front motors, and I just can't believe that there was that much design put into the weight distribution. All 6 motors are surely adding to the pitch authority.

  • @hoagietime1

    Remember those DYS motors that would fall apart after the first flight, not first crash, first flight. Magnets would fall out, bells would just separate. Would have been smart if they changed their name

    Looks like you can get an option with the Jumper T15 with arming switches on the top of the radio now as seen the the grey model. I like this idea a lot! Not a fan of button arming and I have the muscle memory and habit of arming at the top corner with a switch so this radio is becoming very attractive now. The Rotor Riot FC being approved for sale to the government is probably for more civilian usages. There is no way in hell the military is going to use a homemade hackable opensource FC in any military equipment. That's not how they roll. I have family that works at a place I won't mention that designs & builds military electronic equipment. What they build is extremely robust and not available to the general public until it's around 20 years old & declassified.

    • @JoshuaBardwell
      @JoshuaBardwell  3 месяца назад

      "The military" is a big and varied thing. They absolutely are buying off the shelf hobby equipment for various purposes. And there absolutely is a market for non-China stuff.

    • @CarbonGlassMan
      @CarbonGlassMan 3 месяца назад

      @@JoshuaBardwell The military may use them for target practice, or non combat uses, but they're not going to put an opensource hobby drone into combat when American lives depend on them working. Out here at Camp Atteberry they've been using hobby RC planes for target practice for decades. They don't take them into the field though. Ukraine is using them out of desperation. Russia is using them too because their power is based on the perception of a power they don't actually possess. Their military actually kind of sucks.

    • @TheTubejunky
      @TheTubejunky 2 месяца назад

      Oh you're talking about the USO that are shaped like a Mantaray. I can tell you they're not that secret anymore. They have large versions much bigger than the rolling tables they kept the small ones on. (in modular pieces for diagnostics).

    • @CarbonGlassMan
      @CarbonGlassMan 2 месяца назад

      @@TheTubejunky I'm talking about the hobby drones, like the ones I fly and that Ukraine and Russia are using out of desperation as weapons. Radio controlled quadcopters and RC airplanes. Right about the Sequre. After many great flights with Foxeer 8s I thought I'd give Sequre a try. After twelve great flights it dropped. Faulty USB port soldering is the culprit. I'm in negotiations for a store credit over the last 72 stupid hours. I bought on sale for 116.00 but shoulda paid way more. Let this stack age before you buy

    Its big fets but its a 20x20 sequre stack i have it & am running it on 8s works great definitely saved me on weight. The only complaint is mine cane with BLHeli test firmware on it. & you cant do anything with it unless you get their configurator which currently is only for windows. & i cant currently update the ESC because well i have only apple computers. So now im stuck woth stock motor timing & stock pwm frequency. Personally i like the stack but dont make the mistake and get the BLHeli version get the AM32 version because if you dont you will end up in a situation that shouldn’t even be a thing but it is

  • @fooojin
    @fooojin 5 месяцев назад

    If i dont remember incorrectly i think Bob Roogi came to the conclusion that a well built y6 whould get sliglty longer battery times when flying at a constant high speed, but slightly worse for a normal flight, therefore might be some use for chasing fast cars for example. I have also been wodering if it might be slightly better in high winds, because of more power, and less wind catch and drag..

    Why does the documentation on the DYS stack state that the input voltage is 6S? I own that stack and was afraid to put 8s thru the fc so I too used a voltage regulator to bring the power down to 12v for the fc. This in turn kind of screwed me because my voltage wouldn't read correctly. I had to force the cell count to 8s in the cli.

    The value in INAV is up and down 13v~20v (I use 4S battery)
    I have changed the battery but the problem still occurs
    I am really furstate because I really like long range flight
    Do you know what component that I need to check? (It seems I broke that during soldering the cable)
    Is there any external Voltage Sensor available that can be sent through our Remote?
    Would it be possible for us to parallely connect the Receiver (Matek R24D) to Flight Control and CRSF to PWM converter
    The idea behind that because I heard we can get Vbat tellemetry to my remote using CRSF to PWM converter
    But at the same time I stil need OSD and Waypoint capability from Flight Controller

    You mention during your sandwich discussion, that such frames are potentially valuable to top racers. However, there are also many of us who are trying to minimize weight for other reasons for example, I am trying to build a sub 249g drone that can flip between 8K FPV and 8K cine that can compete with much larger drones on performance but gets to ignore many of the larger drone rules. I realize that it's a tall order. Doesn't mean I won't keep trying until it works. :) but the point is, there are many compelling reasons to minimize weight when either building your own from scratch or building it from parts made by other people. Many compelling reasons.

Also thats the whole point behind it to absorb the energy of the impacts and protect the main center plates and the camera + other electronics

    Funny that you recorded this before your T-15 video but published that one first.

    Hey Josh. I've seen a bunch of reviews of the Goggles L and I haven't seen anyone review the custom prescription inserts they offer. I'd love to see that in the review. 👍

      There is no way that I could know that. Ask Skyzone support, just like I told you in your last comment.

    I literally use a SINGLE thumbtack to hold my quads to the wall. Most carbon frames have an access hole for screws or for airflow that a thumbtack fits inside of. I have never had one fall. There is no cleaner way to display your quads. Nothing visible holding the quad to the wall whatsoever. You are welcome.

      I jam an arm part way through the wall. Going to have to patch it up anyway...
      You're welcome..

    The best thing about the goggles L is when you upgrade to the goggles X, you can retransmit from the X to the L for a spectator

    It's time the Apex was updated. For the price of an apex you don't get any TPU, the hardware is a joke, comes all together in a single bag. You gotta put your own press nuts in and file some of the holes just to get things to fit.
    Every other frame comes with tons of TPU and hardware is better organized.
    The ERA is an updated version of the APEX, but so many "copys" do it better and they need to update and step their game up.

      For sure. There is also a very small drone from a company called XOXOL that makes a drone called the Stingray - it is under 2" so it is small but it is also a Y4 configuration. It is very inexpensive for the frame, the rest of the parts could not add up to be that much. Worth checking out. It is sold at a company called CNCDrones. Cheers

      It's not really a company, its just a channel's name. Guy, who makes those frames is from Ukraine , and channel's name contains local joke.
