35:35 Also, if you currently own a pair of good analog goggles, remember that if you buy the HDZero goggles you'll be able to sell them and that'll offset the majority of the extra cost for the HDZero goggles. Whereas if you buy the walksnail goggles you'll have to keep those goggles if you still want to fly analog at all.
Don't forget to hit the like if you got this far in. I watched until he informed us that he knows what we think but we can still leave a comment and I believe that's true. I don't know about you guys but he answered all my questions.
Lol. The end of this video... I felt that. Honestly, the reason I only fly analog is because I can't bring myself to upgrading all my quads. The prices are waaay too high. The ability to have my analog and digital easily switchable is making want to make the change.
analog latency is so much better than walksnail for example. hdzero breaks up like analog to achieve good latency feel so not that much better really. botgrinder prefers the look of analog fuzz to hdzero's,
@@fearlessflyersfpv420 This is how I feel from recent experience, digital is amazing until its not, a slightly fuzzy analog is pretty manageable in most cases but when digital starts breaking up it quickly becomes unusable.
For me these days, the range on digital walksnail is so much better than analog, as in perfect picture through trees and at a distance too, It's not about the picture, it's mainly about the latency feel. After some digital flying you get better at predicting and reacting to bad signal. Analog still feels better, but not by much, it is a more accurate fly with analog. @@ST19859
Hey JB, great video. My HDZero goggles should be arriving in about a week. Can’t wait!! I wonder why a lot of reviewers never mention the built in ExpressLrs backpack feature. It is fantastic feature. I think HDZero and ExpressLrs are two incredible communities doing a great job for the FPV Pilots.
Fantastic review as always! Learned so much. Would love to see a comparison video on the goggles video quality, dvr video quality, and vtx video quality between hdzero, walksnail, and dji 💚
I'll probably pick them up purely because they are open source; love me some open source goodness! My first and only fpv setup right now are the FPV goggles v2; enjoy it, but want something more versatile and open.
You forgot one other type of person that won't be able to use these goggles and that's poor people like me 😢 what goggles would you recommend for under 300 dollars US
Great video and really helped me learn some different system options and their features.. I like how the Hdzero has a built-in mic, because even though you can hear the fan's, you can still hear everything your saying just fine.. I really like the open-source HDZero goggles, and beginning to think more and more about ditching DJI just out of principal. In my opinion when your spending that much on something and you cant even control even the most basic settings if not already available, then youre basically screwed with the Dji stuff. I wouldnt be surprised if Dji adds remote id modules in a new version of the air unit so that it can be "easily activated when use on drone's over 250g". This might appeal to a lot of people who want to keep things more simple and stay compliant, but that sure seems like a slippery slope to me if i ever saw one lol.. Bc you know prob the best how Dji operates and basically never listen's to their customers unless its going to sell more new drones or the newest accessories conveniently required for new features they add and tease in your face. Im looking at you DJI, and not supporting the Air 2s, not supporting the FPV Goggles V2's, and also not being able to use the Motion Controller v1, you need the MCv2!! .. which is kind of crazy just to use your camera drones in fpv mode a few times lol.. Not to mention the new DJI RC controller sticks and buttons already work (no video, displays a custom error message for needing the MC2 to fly it, but you connect everything and then power off the MC2 off, and then the DJI RC on, while the drone is already taken off and hovering somewhere away from the home point, and then fly with the RC controller now as an unofficial workaround that works perfectly, but they still dont officially support it yet... Its a shame the Goggles2 have no Video Input at all, but they really should have HDMI-input for that price and it would justify the differences in the goggles2 and new goggles integra. Especially when the cheaper version has built-in gps which at this point for a dji drone like an Avata, its much easier to take off rather than plugging in the phone every time. Or maybe thats still the case anyway idk.
Great Vid and coverage .. first time I have felt the "need" to have a set over $100-ish .. as you pointed out though, if I did this for a living these goggles just went right to the top of the list and are well worth the price for all of the whistles and bells added .. and Open Source? .. yeah .. right into the Abso-freeking-lutely catagory .. even as a "hobbiest" ..
Thank you Sir! Another insightful video. Been flying HDO(1) for analog and still use the DJI googles V1 rooted with WTFOS hmmmm....What a great time to fly FPV!!!
As always thanks for all your help you helped me make a very important decision on the best goggles. Been trying to find out what’s going to be the best And these being so versatile made it an easy choice. So now I have my goggles figured out now I have to start thinking about the radio! Trust me Josh I will be scrolling through all your videos to find out what will be the best.
I state that I have already purchased and tried them, I agree with the judgment and I would be curious to learn more about the backpack, since I am also a user of Express lrs. I noticed that some other comments talk about this topic, I haven't read them all and I hope I'm not repeating myself. Anyway thanks And I hope to see your review on this aspect Greetings Gio from Italy
The one reason to get the 4-in01 internal protocol on my RadiioMaster TX16S Mark II Max Radio Controller (M2) × 1 ELRS (FCC) / AG01 Hall Gimbal / Carbon Fiber Red" is because later I cold have added an external ELRS module providing the full flexibility available. I choose ExpressLRS as its more powerful and a matching, open source, mindset just like HDZero. So they are a perfect match and there are tons of options for ELRS units.
Thank you Joshua for giving this product a fair review and highlighting the pros and cons. As a owner of these goggles I feel your overview was thorough and accurate. Tomorrow I should be receiving my walksnail vtx which I'm looking forward to trying out. The two downsides of these goggles for me are not the goggles fault themselves, but my genetics, 1 my astigmatism means without my contacts in I can't get the view perfectly clear(I'm hoping that those lenses make their way to market soon) and 2 the faceplate fits nicely, but because my stupid forehead sticks out further than my cheekbones by a fair bit, the goggles are on an angle facing down a bit, so I don't get to line up the lenses square to my face, I need to figure out a way of padding the lower portion of the foam. There is no light leak for me just the alignment issue. Please make sure you do some follow up videos with these goggles and can you please cover how the goggles are able to produce the Walksnail 100fps mode on the 90fps screens, I assume it's done with some converting to drop those extra 10fps? Thank you again and enjoy your weekend.
There's no conversion of frames. That's a very good question. According to Carl, the screens are rated for 90fps, and DJI and Walksnail overdrive them to 100fps. This reduces their lifespan and Carl didn't want to do it. But he decided that 720p 100 was ok I guess and decided to do it.
Outputting the WS image was possible a couple weeks ago and will be fixed again soon! We’re still continually troubleshooting and updating the firmware… so this will definitely work going forward! Great video, thanks for the effort here, cheers!
Oh dude! This needs to be pinned because knowing this was open source, I felt like this reflected badly on the codebase because even with high latency or reduced frame rate / quality doing this should be possible and would have been added by somebody, long ago. Glad to see I was right, hahah, a feature getting clobbered in an optional update is not a big deal, I presume firmware can be rolled back, so I think i'll make these goggles my first purchase :)
These are appealing to people like me who fly DJI v2 goggles and Vistas on everything. If I wanted to branch out to micros or build something for racing. All the options out there require you to commit to something. This goggle allows you to have a set for all those odd ball builds outside of my stable of 5 inch vista builds
@BabyKnxckz I've had the analog adapter on the V2 goggles and it's not worth it. It's a pain to set up every time. Over time I got to where it wasn't worth it to plug all the stuff in just to fly some whoops. I actually went with walksnail goggles for micros and I'm starting to love them more than the v2/vistas
Wow, so glad I watched this. I use my kids goggles and was waiting on this to decide where I go. I was honestly leaning towards DJI for penetration and long range without fancy antennae but did not know the goggles 2 didn't have a fan. I instantly fog up in humidity or over 75 degrees so that is a must for me.
You already know what I think? What I was thinking was that each time you hard pause between the last three words of a sentence it reminds me of Morpheus explain to Neo that he’s been living in a dream world. Now that it’s popped into my head I can’t shake it! Love the content man! I wouldn’t be flying if you didn’t do what you do.
I was looking for a solid analog goggle, since I still fly 1.3. With the price and feature set, it's a no brainer, even for analog. I may dip the toe into digital eventually, but I can't see the downside with these things. I placed an order last night.
Just getting back into drone and fixed wing FPV and appreciate your content over the last few years. Subscribed and please keep up the great work with the videos. My next project, build an under 250 g drone using my larger frames. Learning how to cut carbon fiber should be fun.
Joshua as always good 👍 job 👏. I'm sticking with my dji goggles v2. Money is not a issue but, I have no need for those goggles for a couple more years probably.
I think it would also be worth considering the additional cost of VRX antennas when considering overall cost, as a newcomer it’s easy not to realise you need to buy them separately for HDZero, analogue units and the Walksnail goggles (given how bad the stock antennas apparently are).
This is one of the reasons I chose DJI recently. Antennas, batteries, battery charger make these more expensive than the DJI goggles v2 right now. Plus the HDZero goggles haven't been out "enough" I think. I'd like to see how these fair after a year or two.
@@shaunvaughn3323 yeah I was thinking HDZero as well but I saw the amount of breakup people get and the quality of the video wasn't that great compared to DJI. Also, just flew my DJI setup the other day and the latency at 30 ms is still unnoticeable to me. I'm no pro though. I would have gotten HDZero or walksnail if I only had whoops and that's it.
This seems like a solid product offering. My only wish would be integrated analog that's on par with rapidfire/fusion, or at least an internal module bay, but I assume that's not possible or they would have done it. That module hanging off the side looks a bit unwieldy for how I like to pack my goggles.
I agree. Tho it's more like "Where are your hobbies at?" do you wanna fly and take cool camera shots? Or do you want to heavily invest into researching what components to buy, wich frame, flight controller, goggles and remote - then build the drone and solder everything + flash the software, change values for your system and then maybe start in a simulator to train. Your own 5inch drone is comparable to daily driving Linux OS, man I just wanna chill out and play my games with addons(!) on Microsoft OS. DJI just works. You boot it up and you fly. Braindead, no loops to jump through.
@@TheForceOfBluescreendo you realize that with the term “flying dji” you include people who fly vista/o3 air units, which still require you to build your own drone like anyone else right?
Nah. DJI dominates for standard use like cinematic, work, pics -> absolutely YES!. For FPV - NO! - if you want to have ou own pretty bad ass thing -> BUILD IT. Showing up with out of the box product in fpv? cmon man its about diversity, tuning, colors ;-)
Kinda, although like@@TheForceOfBluescreensaid, an Andriod phone works out of the box as soon as you press the on button, these other systems require a bit of knowledge to get yourself in the air (which is kinda fun in itself if you are into that sort of thing). If you just want to fly and get some cool shots DJI is by far the best option, but if you want to fly freestyle, race or get proper professional cinematic shots, you kinda gotta go down the rabbit hole.
This was excellent information and this was one of the last things I havebeen trying to research and learn. I have been researching how to get optimal reuse of all possible gear for mix and matching and flyihn many different builds. Miniwhoops. 31/2", 5" (AOS 5.3"), 6", 7", 8", etc. I first bought a JDI Mini 4 Pro FLy more combo for my 1st drone and quickly learned I was boxed into that tech when looking to buy other platforms and reuse the gear. To do that, EVERYTHING would have to be all JDI - for the most part. So I have been trying to learn which goggles and controllers provide optimal reuse for all the listed platforms both for Freestyl, Race and L/D where possible. Tooks lots of research and naturally, no one wants to own 1-for-1 goggles and controllers per drone. That's NUTS!! That's what I did weeks of research for to mitigate. This video pretty much put it all in a nutshell. I already know controllers from mu history with RC on 1/8, 1/10, 1/12, and 1/18th scale car/truck platforms from backing the days. TEam ASsociated, Losi, etc. But the FPV and all related hardware and the GPS stuff was all new. The speed controller stacks and wiring harnesses different too naturally. But brushless and electronic speed contorller (ESC) I know all about. This instruction informed me of everything I was wondering about. What was the best reuse, and covering analog and HD. I will not be buying anything JDI anymore, but know I understand how to pick and choose the bind-and-fly (BNF) drones. With the HDZero, we can match receivers and cameras for the drone and desired output. And I can use the HDZero on pretty much every drone, except any BNFs that someone purchased with the JDI air receiver and matching camera. And the HDZero opens up the flexibility to purchase other platforms with other receiver3es, digital or analog and run them all in a single headset. I also grabbed a "TX16S Mark II Max Radio Controller (M2) × 1 ELRS (FCC) / AG01 Hall Gimbal / Carbon Fiber Red" radio for now and that one should work well as a central unit to control all builds as well. And we also have the nice DHZero VRX units, so we can use our HDZero builds in other headsets potentially when needed or when curious. The missing information and gaps really helped to finish painting the whole picture and I think I have it now. The next step is to use the built in or better mics and start receiving and transmitting voice commands from the goggles / headsets. Thats the next logical step I would think, that along with more integrated movement controls w/ some augmented reality. Do you think the flagship TX16S MarkII Max with all the upgrades is a good radio for awhile? And was it a mistake to grab the ELRS version compared to the 4-in-1?" The RadioMaster Boxer top of line looks decent as well, but not as nice as a screen. Should I have grabbed the 4-in-1 protocol or the ELRS and can I change those modules later if its helpful?? I used affiliate links to purchase a bunch including the HDZero kit with Freestyle cam and receiver kit and more. Keep up the good work!!!!
Before watching this video I was sold on buying the Dji Goggles 2 (even considering FOV issues and fogging), as I tough that pure Digital feed was going to be the new standard going forward. Now I’m back to square one knowing the open source capabilities and versatility of these goggles. If analog was not a concern, would you recommend these over the Dji’s as a first buy? Thank you so much for your amazing work.
I've been waiting for the dust to settle on the whole HD FPV debate for awhile now. I'm still flying analog with a pair of FS Attitude V3 which have served me well. This may be the product that finally gets me to make the jump to digital. Great review JB, keep them coming.
@@cannaroe1213 I haven't purchased anything yet. I don't like the idea of being under the "Iron Fist" of DJI but they have come out with some compelling products as of late. Flying season is here so I should make a decision soon.
I was torn between these and the new Goggles X with Walksnail. To be honest, for 600$ they are quite expensive, but they are everything I could wish from a goggle. Yes the mic could be better, but you can upgrade it. Yes there are no antennas, but you can get something nice. I want Open Source, I don't want to feel like a slave. Heck, there is so much human energy wasted by people trying to crack DJI goggles, I can't support such a company that is ultimately hurting humanity in such ways. I want people to have a choice, tinker with their stuff, become developers themselves.
Well...The DJI smart controller pro has HDMI output. Also their latest version of their controller with O4 is compatible with a USB C to HMDI adapter, so in a wonky way you could use it with some DJI drones, but not the air unit I suppose.
I saw every other HDzero goggle video out there, but yours is the only one I didn’t skip any single second! I was waiting for your review more than a star wars movie in the ‘80s
I could sell a couple pairs of goggles and swing the the HDZero goggles, but I like having a separate set of goggles for 2.4ghz and 5.8ghz-analog and 5.8ghz-digital (Walksnail). All of my goggles are capable of 5.8ghz analog, but I don't like to change internal modules on my Fatsharks, and I don't like to change the channels on my other goggles. I like my stuff to be standardized.
Okay review but a lot missing which I was expecting you'd cover, e.g. I was shocked that you didn't do a flight test of the goggles around your backyard, or a comparison to the VRX to say whether penetration was better, or a test of WalkSnail VRX on these to see whether it was better than your earlier test with Orcas, or even a test of the analog video to see if you could notice a difference from the new interlacer?
You said as long as their rhcp, couldn't they be lhcp assuming you changed the vtx antenna too? I'm sure some have a ton of lhcp they might want to use.
Pretty much nailed it on all counts. I fall into that last category of pilots who are simply all in on Walksnail at this point, and I bought the Avatar goggles during the crazy coupon deal they were doing. If I were doing it again today, I might consider these and the WS VRX module, but it'd be a tough call since I don't really want to fly analog anymore at all. And while you can build a slightly lighter whoop on HDzero, the WS 1s lite vtx and camera is light enough to meet my demands for the 75mm and 85mm builds I usually fly. I have no interest in flying HDzero on my 5" freestyle builds - I know it has improved since I first flew it, but I think Walksnail (which is still improving with every firmware update) absolutely unalives it for image quality and penetration in the environments I tend to fly. All in all, I'm just glad there are good options to fit almost anyone wanting to move to or start with digital FPV at this point, and it seems the competition should continue to benefit end users. I also think HDzero is setting a great example for how companies should respond to user input in this space.
I wish I could justify getting the hdzero goggles right now. I use the DJI V2 for work but still really like flying analog for fun. There is something more intense flying analog that is still there on hdzero but no DJI. I'm trying to justify just having HD zero for myself and then use walksnail for work. But ultimately I'll probably upgrade to the DJI goggles 2
If you like the intensity on analog, then you’ll probably like it even more on HDZero. Especially the nano90 cam in 540p/90fps mode. That thing is super locked and super smooth
Nice review, the hdmi in worked simultaneously with hdmi out in previous firmware. I think carl disabled this with some tinkering to get it to work with ws vrx. But I'm sure it will be back in upcoming firmware 😉👍🏻
Yeah this. Hopefully Joshua will read this comment. Currently disabled but will be re-enabled in future. Ofcourse he can only review what he currently has at the moment. Another note is im sure its been mentioned recording hdmi in is a possibility going forward aswell. Just not implemented yet.
What I need from HDZERO is a v2 freestyle VTX that is a lot smaller so I can convert my old drones. That being said I did manage 1.6km on 200mw with better quality than my 800mw analogue vtx's the other day.
Watched all the way through! For the Algorythm... Great work JB! distilling it down to just over 30 mins! Impressive! Great recap w thoughtful discussion.
One thing I was wondering with your shopping list, is how do you know what all you need? I have an older 9 channel Flysky TH9x for example. When you talk about receivers and transmitters do you need both plus a controller? what about the transmitter from the drone to the goggles? Or are those part of the recievers now?
19:00 Thank you, JB! Been a patreon supporter for a while (2 years? Year and a half? ... I don't know). But you're worth every penny I've spent. I plan to continue to support you on patreon FOREVER!
As you stated the optics are from one source. I have a pair of Skyzone 04x and advertised as plus 6 to minus 6 and when trying to adjust to plus 3 still out of focus on asking skyzone “they told me actually they “misspoke and are only +2.5 like all other googles. The question is do these google really go to plus 6. This is another reason if they do go to the advertised range they are the only pair that do.
Just like phones these days. They are getting bigger and bigger. Normal fatshark still compact. Used the cinemizer goggles with external av for a long time with diving goggle cups and strap mod for a long time. Really compact and light. Also not having issues with the lenses blurred in the corners. Little bit smaller screen though.
I have to wait a little while to buy myself a pair (plus analogue module) next month because money’s a little tight. These will hopefully be everything I’ll ever need for a few years. Thanks for this eagerly anticipated review JB.
I've been wanting to fly a real drone for half a year and I watch videos about it every week. But I only fly with my aquila16. I have now ordered stronger batteries so that I can fly manually. Did my first tricks with it yesterday. I wish it had more video range. It quickly has problems with the signal if there are obstacles in between. I bought a Radio Master Pocket for the simulator. fits in the hand like an xbox controller. Nazgul is on my list, I'll fly the Aquilla until she doesn't want to go anymore, then I'll think of something There is just so much to consider on the software and hardware side. Even if you have money, it's difficult. what do I want to do with it? What should the drone be able to do? Adjusting the sensitivity of the sticks in the simulator took me days and needs to be further adapted to my flying skills. I enjoy it
I hate that I'm about to go with DJI for my first real setup but as a Videographer I'm liking the idea of being able to record that sweet footage directly from the FPV Cam without having to carry a GoPro on top. Am I missing a solution here?
I understand the time you put into these videos and I'm very grateful that you share them with us, but I gotta say I was a little disappointed that the potential for added latency over an hdmi cable from the Walksnail vrx to the HD zero goggles wasn't addressed in this video, especially considering you have some nice equipment to test for latency. I've been waiting on your review prior to purchasing for that very reason. I'm sure you have plans for it later. Thanks again for the video
@@scottyd035ntknow seems like one brand did have added latency unless I'm mistaken. I would assume the HD zero probably doesn't have added latency, but I try not to assume.
I watched the Walksnail vrx review again because I couldn't remember for sure. The HD02 had the same latency as the Dominator HD, the Orqa had approximately 8 ms additional latency and the 7" display had approximately 38 ms additional latency. Considering the HD02 has the same latency through hdmi as the Dominator HD it can certainly be done without additional latency. I guess it would just be nice to have confirmation, and it would be really interesting to see test results at 100 fps with the HDZ patch. My guess is he's probably planning to do this and I guess I just need to be patient ;)
32:15 At the same price range I'd 100% pick the HDZero ones over Orqa... Mainly because everyone's going over to digital so may as well get goggles that'll do it. Of course, it may not quite be the same price range when factoring in the need to buy the module bay & module separately...
They aren't perfect, but they are the most perfect I've seen so far. Flying them HDZero is incredible. DVR is recompressed and can't do it justice. But flying them is next level.
Sounds like we now just need a smatphone in a box mounted to the front running a spacial OS and this HMD might be THE headset for anything... I want a vision pro, but I'm also poor.. With the right setup I'm pretty sure you could turn this into a spacial computer, but without passthrough, eye and hand tracking and other external tools it will still be limited. So much potential in this space wasted on niche tools for niche uses. Would love to get this headset but I have no real plans to get into fpv flying as extensively as others: I just need the internet permanently at eye level with access to an AI I can talk to and an IDE it can write code for me in...
If these could connect to the boatload of vista's I own I'd buy right now.. I'm tempted to buy just for analog. Right now I use either dominator v1s, ye's v1, or dji for analog. All with a wildfire module
It may resemble a stylized maple leaf but not the Maple Leaf as the Canadian flag has a 11-pointed red maple leaf on a white background. Sheldon Cooper would have picked this apart in a jiffy.
@@slackerinmotion huh. Funny enough, I based it on a package from trueRC but it appears you may be right. I was only joking anyway, and thought it was funny. Also, how can you NOT see that as a maple leaf design? Pretty clear to me. Hugo is Canadian after all.
Even now I think you should always get the hdzero goggles in place of the avatar x goggles for walksnail. With the walksnail sure you could put an hdzero receiver on it but even then you wouldn’t be able to make use of their 90fps camera with 12ms latency. Just wait until they make a 120fps camera 🤤 you can put a walksnail receiver on it with no performance drops or anything so might as well just get the hdzero goggles if you have the money.
Man, I am torn, all my quads are Analog. I have FS HDO-2 and I can't decide HDZero or Walksnail. UGHHHHH I am thinking HDZero since I hear they have a lot of dev going on to keep the low latency, high framerate and improve image quality.... Thanks for the video buddy!
Hi Josh, Great video and review of the HDzerro googles. Finally, I am able to get new Googles that I can use HDzerro and analog. I have never had the funds to buy the DJI system, but I could afford the HDzerro system. Thanks for the video and information about these googles.
Thank you for the review. Still waiting for a true universal fpv goggle: a goggle without any internal VRx, but HDMI and analog inputs and bays for analog and digital VRx.
ok after nearly jumping for dji fpv 2 goggles several times last summer, one of your videos saved me and I decided to wait for this, just ordered a pair now with your aff link :)
Are there any posibility that cadex will make a vtx transmitter for this googles so they work with the cadex vistas? I mean, this looks like we soon buy the googles we want, and then attach the vtx we need externaly.... like they have with the analoge until now..... Or am i missing some thing.

If you do it for a living your running dji..
What we really need is digital modules which fit standard module bays. Even if it would mean 2 modules combined inside my sky04x I would be happy.
I bought some in the first batch and they are excellent. So impressed at how well they did on these.
Agree, all my gear is DJI but I bought the hdzero goggles basically for whoops and better analog
Is it worth it tho to buy those just to fly your woops?, you can enter HDMI input on your DJI goggles instead would be alot cheaper
Insanely comprehensive vid...watched every minute which is rare for me. Thanks.
You just saved me from making an expensive mistake!! This is 9 months old, is everything still the same today?
You already know what I think? What I was thinking was that each time you hard pause between the last three words of a sentence it reminds me of Morpheus explain to Neo that he’s been living in a dream world. Now that it’s popped into my head I can’t shake it! Love the content man! I wouldn’t be flying if you didn’t do what you do.
I was looking for a solid analog goggle, since I still fly 1.3. With the price and feature set, it's a no brainer, even for analog. I may dip the toe into digital eventually, but I can't see the downside with these things. I placed an order last night.
Awesome review! Hands down best goggles ever!!! I have flown a few times now with them and they are really awesome!!! Thank you HDZERO 🥳🎉🎆!!!
Definitely been waiting for this review and you did not disappoint! Awesome presentation and information JB 👏👍👌
Yep that's going to be my first pair of fpv goggles HDzeros
Just getting back into drone and fixed wing FPV and appreciate your content over the last few years. Subscribed and please keep up the great work with the videos. My next project, build an under 250 g drone using my larger frames. Learning how to cut carbon fiber should be fun.
Joshua as always good 👍 job 👏. I'm sticking with my dji goggles v2. Money is not a issue but, I have no need for those goggles for a couple more years probably.
Do you happen to know what the glass to glass latency of HDZero + Walksnail VRX is?
I think it would also be worth considering the additional cost of VRX antennas when considering overall cost, as a newcomer it’s easy not to realise you need to buy them separately for HDZero, analogue units and the Walksnail goggles (given how bad the stock antennas apparently are).
And that the HDZero analogue bay costs an additional $30 (or $60 for V2), plus the analogue module itself is a separate expense.
Oh, and the battery (and charger for the battery) isn’t included either!
This is one of the reasons I chose DJI recently. Antennas, batteries, battery charger make these more expensive than the DJI goggles v2 right now. Plus the HDZero goggles haven't been out "enough" I think. I'd like to see how these fair after a year or two.
@@adamdude was leaning towards dji v2 then I watched this and leaned to towards HDZero. Then I read you comment now I’m leaning towards dji 😂
Wow - this is a fantastic review, not just of the HDZero goggles, but many of the top goggles out there. I learned A LOT today!
I just watched this whole video in one sitting. That tells you a lot. Thanks Joshua.
This seems like a solid product offering. My only wish would be integrated analog that's on par with rapidfire/fusion, or at least an internal module bay, but I assume that's not possible or they would have done it. That module hanging off the side looks a bit unwieldy for how I like to pack my goggles.
I came from analog and now I'm stuck with DJI for while... thanks for the informations and thoughts... always good to know.
As a newb, it sounds to me like the "DJI crowd" are like Apple owners, while everyone else are Android owners?
@@cladiotto Technically maybe, but it's pretty clear that's not what he ment.
Just bought my first drone and it’s a tiny hawk 3, need my first pair of goggles and I think I’m gonna go with these
This was excellent information and this was one of the last things I havebeen trying to research and learn.
I definetly would. Think what DJI will do when new FAA rules apply. Here in Europe dji locks itself into 25mW alteady
Just starting in FPV. Very informative! Thank you!
I've been waiting for the dust to settle on the whole HD FPV debate for awhile now. I'm still flying analog with a pair of FS Attitude V3 which have served me well. This may be the product that finally gets me to make the jump to digital. Great review JB, keep them coming.
It's 3 months later, do you still think this is the best bet for getting into HD or did you find something else?
@@cannaroe1213 I haven't purchased anything yet. I don't like the idea of being under the "Iron Fist" of DJI but they have come out with some compelling products as of late. Flying season is here so I should make a decision soon.
@@YancySmithTurboRexPerformance Same-same, and exactly right :)
JB, one point you forgot to mention was the service / repair centers HDzero will be providing compared to the other manufactures…
You taught me everything I know about FPV, and you have helped me improve my English. Big thanks for that!
It would be interesting future if we would have goggles with standarised modules for digital and analog rx modules.
Your attention to detail is insane, thanks for this video!
Man I love these! This is what will finally break me from analog. At least in my 5in quads and soooo cool I can leave my whoops analog!
I have the new hdzero goggles the 16:9 screen is huge with the micro v2 cam, it looks bigger than the 4:3 hd02 screen.
It is coming.
Or a 1.5-2 watt Vtx 👀👀👀
Watched all the way through! For the Algorythm... Great work JB! distilling it down to just over 30 mins! Impressive! Great recap w thoughtful discussion.
Thank you me and my son are new to the sport/ hobby.i appreciate your channel
I can tell you that my prescription is -6.75 or higher, and I can get a usable image on these. Also the Walksnail. Also the Orqa. Also the Skyzone.
@@JoshuaBardwell
HD02 +2 to -6 diopter
Fatshark Dominator Adjustable Focus Range: +2 to -6 diopter
Orqa FPV.One Pilot -4D - +4D
Sorry but I misspoke. My prescription is minus not plus.
You won't be disappointed.... Love mine
I may have missed it in the video but the HDZero goggles have a elrs backpack built in, on top of everything else ...
Mr. Bardwell you are the man…… your channel and info is the best on the toobs…… thank you I will be joining patreon for sure now……
If I hadn't already bought and received these goggles, this video would have sealed the deal. This was extremely educational, well done...
Nazgul is on my list, I'll fly the Aquilla until she doesn't want to go anymore, then I'll think of something
There is just so much to consider on the software and hardware side.
Even if you have money, it's difficult. what do I want to do with it?
What should the drone be able to do?
Adjusting the sensitivity of the sticks in the simulator took me days and needs to be further adapted to my flying skills.
I enjoy it
Yep, HDZero goggles with rapid fire and Walksnail VRx for me. DJI made the choice easy when they made my DJI V1 goggles obsolete...
If DJI would make a standalone vrx, these would be perfect. Since they don’t, I’ll stick with my V2 goggles and bdi adapter for analog whoop fun
I was going to buy it eventually. This was the convincing review. Gladly used your link.
Is the difference between 90 and 60 fps that big of a difference?
I hate that I'm about to go with DJI for my first real setup but as a Videographer I'm liking the idea of being able to record that sweet footage directly from the FPV Cam without having to carry a GoPro on top. Am I missing a solution here?
15:12 TS can be cut losslessly, MP4 not so much. MPEG-TS was the standard for satellite TV for a long time, at least in Europe.
Definitely buying these goggles but will buy mid summer when the USD drops in value and refining is made to the product as is always the case
Is there gonna be a reacation video of you using the low latency camera?
I understand the time you put into these videos and I'm very grateful that you share them with us, but I gotta say I was a little disappointed that the potential for added latency over an hdmi cable from the Walksnail vrx to the HD zero goggles wasn't addressed in this video, especially considering you have some nice equipment to test for latency. I've been waiting on your review prior to purchasing for that very reason. I'm sure you have plans for it later. Thanks again for the video
IIRC he tested latency over HDMI in his Walksnail VRX video and there was none added.
@@tiforce1 I’m interested in the same question, walksnail vrx to hdz goggle latency compared to walknail goggle or HDO2S
skzyone 04x + walksnail vrx has better latency than hdzero +walksnail on 1080p -see chris rosser video
JB I'm missing your review of the HDzero with the walksnail Avatar VRX which due to the 100 FPS should be better latency than walksnail goggles...
I am so excited for a new step upward worth taking. My patience is like that of no other.
I was waiting for your review, but now I'll definitely get those, they'll be my first googles and seems like they are gonna last quite a while
32:15 At the same price range I'd 100% pick the HDZero ones over Orqa... Mainly because everyone's going over to digital so may as well get goggles that'll do it. Of course, it may not quite be the same price range when factoring in the need to buy the module bay & module separately...
love this guy. iam fairly new to fpv and this man is godsend. thank you joshua, i learn something every damm time.
You and Madstech seem to be indicating that TrueRC (or Canada) is in distress. Maple leaves face up, not down
I had no idea it was a maple leaf.
TrueRC's website has its own logo and its products all show the upside-down maple leaf😀
Why do we think it's a maple leaf.
The review I've been waiting for 🙂 Well worth the wait, as are the goggles
JB you’re blessing for the FPV community.... love from Pakistan
Around the 30-31m mark you say "as long as its rhcp" that's not true, you can use lhcp if you choose. Just a small correction
Joshua Bardwell, Please, is it possible for someone to export the firmware of the Eachine X220S? Thanks!
Thank you for the review. Still waiting for a true universal fpv goggle: a goggle without any internal VRx, but HDMI and analog inputs and bays for analog and digital VRx.
Good to see more competition in the digital fpv arena
ok after nearly jumping for dji fpv 2 goggles several times last summer, one of your videos saved me and I decided to wait for this, just ordered a pair now with your aff link :)
Heck yeah.. Up until now i fly mainly DJI.. time to sell and move to hd zero. Pre-ordered the goggles..
Are there any posibility that cadex will make a vtx transmitter for this googles so they work with the cadex vistas?
I mean, this looks like we soon buy the googles we want, and then attach the vtx we need externaly.... like they have with the analoge until now.....
Or am i missing some thing.
