It’s like they got worse as the years went on. Recently cleaned out my parents attic and found all my pieces from the 90’s definitely the best years. Would love for you to do all the random extra sets I always liked those like I remember having a bakery/café set that I loved.
Dolls are not awesome these days. I thought it would be better in the future when I was little. I was wrong. I love vintage dolls... they are another level!
I love the older barbie swimming pools. They were actually big enough, and deep enough for barbie to fit into. Unlike today. They are so small barbie doesn't even barely fit. I bought the 2021 one, and it was so small, we ended up just using it for the little Chelsea dolls.
I had the 1979 Barbie Dream pool as a child! I absolutely loved it! It was much deeper than the shallow pools they have now. Yes I'm in my 50s! Still love dolls and always will! Love your channel. Thanks for bringing us so much cool content.
Those were some great memories weren't they I'm almost 47 and I'm still a Barbie girl and you are absolutely right the Barbie dream pool was hands down the best pool ever it went so great with the dreamhouse and it just was the coolest
My mom gave me her '73 Pool set after we found out my grandmother kept all of my mom and aunt's barbies in storage, and my mom who has OCD kept her barbies in absolute marvelous condition and only had a couple things missing per set (usually just a shoe) by the time they came into my hands; I felt so guilty if I'd loose or break items that had come from my mom's collection, I tried really hard to keep them in the condition I got them in. I'd only trust certain friends with the vintage dolls. The vintage dolls also weren't aloud to leave the house. Eventually keeping them in. good condition payed off because I sold *all* of my dolls and sets for a collective 4,000-ish dollars (I collected some of my own)
I just recently bought a 1979 Barbie Dream House for $50 that came with the Dream Pool! I love it. It is MASSIVE! So that one is my favorite…it’s from my childhood. And that Barbie you held up at the end with the orange suit….DROOLING! Also… I was born in 1972…20 YEARS before you! I laughed so hard! I was like I’m old! This happens often nowadays! I love your channel Sugar and keep it up! Blessings!
I had the 1979 pool, it was awesome!! I got it in 1990 at a yard sale, my grandma and grandpa bought it for me. It was $5 which was not cheap 😅 the shower was as cool as it looked. I waited all year to be able to bring it outside in the summer sun
When I was little I got a box of a whole bunch of older Barbie stuff from cousins/siblings that had a lot of well kept items from the 70s. So I had the 1972 United Airlines folding plane, the 1978 Star Traveler Motorhome, the 1979 yellow & white Dream House and, of course, I had the 1979 Dream Pool. I loved having older items that looked more real & the deeper pool. The only survivor is the Motorhome, as I played with the others to literal bits.
Ahhh that 1979 Barbie Dream Pool haunts my dreams! (In a good way 😆) I had it as a kid, though I don't remember it being that big compared to the girl in the pic. The shower was so cool, actually worked. I'm still on the hunt to re-acquire this. Someday it will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine. - Kada 😄
I like how you said almost everyone was your favorite, lol! I had the crystal clear pool. Seeing it now has brought back great memories, thank you for that!
I love these Barbie playset videos of yours. It's so interesting seeing how the playsets change through the decades! I feel like ''extra'' things such as playsets and fashion packs don't get much attention when it comes to most doll lines, which results in info on them being scarce and images being hard to find. I wish that was different and hopefully your videos will encourage people to save info on- and take pictures of those things for the future :)
The second poor is my favorite. 😲😀I like that hot tub too.🙂The Hawaiian Fun sets are /look great.🙂Love that Spa.😀I'd love to own that Huge Fountain pool.😀🙂
The pool fun whale was always one of my favorite toys as a kid! Perfect size for Littlest Pet Shop and other smaller toys. Although I used to play with it a ton and squeeze the water into my mouth a lot as a kid. IYKYK. 😬
This just answered a question I’ve had for years! When my parents moved from my childhood home, there was a random purple Barbie chair, but none of us could remember where it came from. Now I know it was from the Barbie pool party - I remember getting the pool but had forgotten the accessories.
why yes i am a 40yr old drinking wine on a friday night watching barbie content lol i had the bubble spa pool and the barbie in the gold bathing suit on the cover of the box. I remember going into toys rus with my parents cuz my dad wanted to buy me a new toy. I just loved going down the barbie aisle.
I actually really love how the first Barbie pool looks like something that someone probably actually had in their backyard I got a slightly different color version of the 2003 Pool at 12:17 Because I remember having the palm tree breaking and also the flowers just spinning around I wouldn’t be surprised if my bedroom has water damage because of how much of a mess I made with all that water
I also had that 2003 pool! Although i think mine was the same color shown in the picture. And now that you mention it i also remember the spinny flowers.
Killing it with those intros bro plus I love the hair. Also as a side note, could you possibly go through beach Barbie dolls throughout the years, I like bikini fashion dolls
I got the 1986 pool set for Christmas 1987 along with tropical Barbie and Hawaii Miko. It's right up there in my Christmas memories alongside my first Barbie (Twist n Turn Barbie Rocker) and getting my Nintendo (Christmas 1989). I still have most of the pool, surprisingly. I would've LOVED those sinks your mom put in your house growing up. I am retroactively jealous!
Love these trips down memory lane that you take us along on. The changes in style and taste are interesting to watch. It seems like everything in later years has to have a gimmick.
I have the first one 1973, I bought in an antique mall it was inexpensive, it collapses when filled sadly, loving the '93 fountain pool, might have to hunt that one down, thank you for another great video, love this series you do
I had that one when I was a little girl. And I remember it was difficult to put together and stay together. My friend and I played with it inside one night and it made a terrible mess. I think that its poor construction and large volume for the water is the reason for the newer, more shallow ones to come. My friend and I were Barbie fanatics! What fun we had in the 70s!
I had a jewel Barbie and the 1994 pool when I was little. I only remembered that I had them when I saw this video so thanks for bringing back fun childhood memories!
Loved seeing all the pools, I still have my sparkle beach Theresa doll from the 90's!!! Love that you have so many beautiful vintage beach Barbies they are very glamorous so pretty!!!!
I think its so sweet that his mom was supportive of his love for barbies enough to turn the bathroom into a barbie pool playland... especially from a time when there was even more of a stigma to boys playing with dolls its sweet to hear stories of parents being supportive of their kids inerests
I had one of the Vintage Pool for my 1960 's Barbies'. This Pool was Very Deep & Big.This was the First one I purchased 1973. Sold when I moved to Calgary, Canada
I had that one. It was not well constructed, so the depth and volume of water could make a terrible mess if ever you made the mistake of trying it out indoors. 😂
I never had any of the poolsets, but I have to say my favorite is honestly the original. It looks like a pool my family actually had and I would love to recreate something like it for a Made-to-Move Barbie (with non-painted on swimsuit) for some fun summer photo shoots. The pools definitely got worse as time went on. Mattel has robbed Barbie of her fabulousness ToT
The one I had as a kid is missing, sadly. It was made of soft plastic, covered in pink and orange flowers and came with purple cocktail drinks and a tiki themed bench thingy. I had color changing dolphins and an orange ball in mine but there's a possibility those came from a separate set(? It probably was from like 2010. EDIT: I found it! its from 2007's Surf's Up line. Maybe mine was like the budget version or something lol The dolphins where from another doll but the ball is from this set. It also came with a parakeet.
I have the Barbie California Dream Patio Pool set it was my cousin's when she was a little kid and it was passed down to me cuz I am a huge Barbie fan and all her vintage Barbies from the '80s and early '90s yes I am was born in 92
This was a really fun overview! I have so many different beach Barbies from the thrift stores, probably 2 dozen ( I just found Splash n Color Teresa a week ago), but I had no idea there were so many pools for them. Thanks for educating me!
😩 I regret getting rid of all of my Barbie stuff when I was a teenager. I remember my Dad building me little items for my house. He even made me an outhouse once 🤗 the memories Thank you for your videos. Love it.
Fountain pool is definetly the most elborate & most beautiful one!!! 🥰😍 I remember very well when I saw it at one house during bday party back in the 90s, but no one was playing there, so I couldn't either cuz it wasn't mine 😨😭😱
I have the first pool and of course Malibu Barbie and Francine and skipper Christy. I want a dream pool and the one that goes with my Miko doll, the Hawaiian set I think.
Love your videos! I start out to watch a little of them and end up watching all of it! The 1970's is when I got my first Barbie. So...I think the first pool is my favorite. Of course there are several of the later made pools that are super looking as well. I love the ones that have palm tree with them. I think I am with you on the painted on clothes. I love to sew and buy new clothes from time to time. The painted on clothes.... not much fun. Really enjoy your comments and reactions to the dolls and their accessories. Love you go into detail with the topics your covering in your videos.
Omg your channel makes me so happy!! I’m literally going to my parents’ house next week to get mine! Lol! Do you ever do fan submission videos of their Barbie collections?
I used to play with my Barbie’s in the sink too! I used the faucet as their diving board! I was fortunate enough to have the Barbie fountain pool and Omg it was one of my favorite barbie accessories! I played with it to death. I still own it 30 years later and my daughter plays with it. Unfortunately, the batteries got corrosion damage and the fountain won’t work anymore. The pretty pinks also faded to an ugly cream shade. Ugh I loved that pool sooooo much💖
My Sister had Marina tropical scent. She came with a small bottle of alcohol free perfume and it smelled surprisingly very pleasant, and the doll was fabulous, beautiful face, great hair
Felt so nostalgic with this video.. I also loved to play with my dolls in the water. I had hand-me-down dolls (that I would KILL to have again!), one of them was a walking Jamie doll who got her hair washed every day at the pool! That poor girl lost lots of her hair by the time I stopped playing with her! Your videos are so much fun to watch, it's like stepping into the joy of childhood all over again!🥰 I also wish Mattel would put a little more effort into Barbie. Clothes that have snap buttons, more articulation, accessories with painted details...and I'm going to say it--maybe it's time for an updated face?!? And HAIR!! Long hair please, good quality long hair on every doll!! Well, I can dream...😌
I really like the first 2 and the tropical pool. Tropical Miko was one of my first dolls and I still have her so she totally needs that pool. The original fountain pool is gorgeous as well.
I had the 1992 with the water sprayer! I got it for my birthday, the 27th July, so basically 30 years ago next week!! We also had one of those ones from the mid 80’s that we had as a hand me down, but it had a wood paneling pattern on the side, but the furniture was the same
Just watched your video. I didn't see the pool that came out in the 70s. It was a shallow but wide kidney shaped pool with a little cabana. It also had some backyard garden features and other pool supplies. It was simple and spacious. It worked I miss thus pool, but I enjoyed discovering other pools in your video
My best friend had the 1979 dream pool which based on what you showed is the best one. It was deep and realistic! Loved that pool and wish i had space for it
ok so i didnt collect the pool, i collected the horses. I had a thing for the horses. But i remember someone had the clear crystal pool, just wasnt me. If you ever get the chance, history of the horses would be awesome. Im loving this trip down memory lane.
I never had one as a kid or adult collector (used the sink instead). But i recently got an inflatable baby pool. The size is perfect for doll pool party. It’s big enough for a bunch of dolls. I'd say it’s better than most of these pools. But i love the 90s/00s pools for the aesthetics. Would love to have some of them.
Thanks for this! I'm pretty sure I had the one at 6:42 when I was little. I initially found the one at 7:15, and wanted to check if there were similar pools that I could be getting it mixed up with, and that's how I found this video. Even though they're nearly identical, I'm glad I checked. As a kid I was incapable of understanding that packaging photos are unrealistic, and I always got unbelievably frustrated that I couldn't make Barbie and her pool float sit so nicely on the surface of the water 😂
Omg i had the cali girls 2004 pool and it was a HUGE part of my childhood doll play. It had so much detail and so many accessories. I particularly loved that the molded turtle could open like a secret compartment. Also this video reminded me that we had (presumably from a second-hand lot of barbies) the 2002 pool but the actual pool was missing so we only had the molded fountain/seat part. I will admit the cali girl pool is definitely one of the best sets, especially post 90s, but the pool being blow-up meant it was kind of a pain to store and set up, and was prone to breaking easily. Id be surprised if a lot of them were still in good nick these days, as most inflatable toys from the early 2000s have disintegrated or melted by now.
I loved your dreamhouses video and this one was great too. The fountain pool with lights looks like a dream come true. Your beach Barbies are all so gorgeous. I go crazy for playsets. Maybe you could do kitchen playsets sometime. Thanks for all the smiles.
Oh my goodness love this video! I had no Idea there where so many different pools.” I never had one as a child but now as an adult collector I want one! I have been looking for reasonably priced 1979 dream pool, but now that I have seen all the beautiful ones there are, I want one of the other kinds! Thank you for all your great Videos with great info!!!
OMG YOU JUST UNLOCKED A MEMORY. I used to have the plastic part of the 2002 paradise pool as a kid, without the pool itself. I always wondered what it was and eventually gave it away. I correctly assumed it was incomplete but I didn't even know it was from Barbie
I remember my best friend having the blonde tropical splash Barbie and the blonde sparkle beach Barbie when we were growing up! I always thought they had the most beautiful swimsuits!
@daniellebenitez, I had both of those dolls too, but, I don't remember the tropical scent on Tropical Splash Barbie. I also had Tropical Splash Steven. I loved playing with them
I had the Kelly Slide for the bath and the 2002 for the first birthday I can remember- I LOOVED the Kelly slide. I’m sure my mom tossed it cause it probably got gnarly on the bath- but I loved that SOOO much
The only one of these I have is the best one, the 1980 Barbie Dream Pool. I also have all of the Dream Furniture that goes with it, the barbecue, table & chairs, and patio recliner with serving cart. It really is an awesome playset, but it is often found in rough shape. I find that if all the pieces are present, it can be restored quite beautifully. A thorough cleaning, followed by freshening up all of the white pieces with bright white spray paint, a new "rules of the pool" decal, and you're good to go.
I had a pool set when I was little. It was not from Mattel, it was a cheaper one, can't remember the brand, but it was pretty cool and had many stuff such as a BBQ, a table and chairs, and even a swing chair, it was much fun. My favorite is the 1986 tropical pool, it looks so great with all the pink, the traillis and the lamps. I wanted it so much. Also the 1979 dream pool is great. Lacks a bit of pink however imao 😊
I had the puppy swim pool as a kid and I loved it. The dogs were so cute, especially with the little floaties I remember playing with this at my kitchen table and putting some random polly pocket toys inside (these Polly pocket toys later got moldy because of so much playing in this pool, I was so upset). I had so much fun with this pool
wow your mom is awesome! i had the biggest one with the lights and fountain from the 90s. it was amazing. i was so sad when i found out in my 20s that it had been sold at a yard sale. 😢 i really wish i still had it for my girls.
It’s like they got worse as the years went on. Recently cleaned out my parents attic and found all my pieces from the 90’s definitely the best years. Would love for you to do all the random extra sets I always liked those like I remember having a bakery/café set that I loved.
I know it was painful to watch them slowly decline in detail and in size :-(
It hurts my soul that Mattel no longer puts quality on their dolls 😖
Exactly. Painted on bathing suits? 🤦♂️
Dolls are not awesome these days. I thought it would be better in the future when I was little. I was wrong. I love vintage dolls... they are another level!
@PrincessofPower84 As a mom I have to admit the painted on suits are good for little kids. But still, the quality is terrible
Yup it’s so sad that Barbie’s are so poorly made
@@wplants9793Why is it good?
What an amazing mom, to get sinks that would make for great barbie pools! I want to be a mom like that!
Me too sis, ima aim for that. Because I want that for myself too. 💅
Wathc "Barbie Boy" short movie on YT, there is also a mom that made waterpool from sink :)
I love the older barbie swimming pools. They were actually big enough, and deep enough for barbie to fit into. Unlike today. They are so small barbie doesn't even barely fit. I bought the 2021 one, and it was so small, we ended up just using it for the little Chelsea dolls.

45 here, never had any girls of my own. I had 5 sisters so we had to split everything. I was a tomboy so I keep anything, now I wish I did.
I just recently bought a 1979 Barbie Dream House for $50 that came with the Dream Pool! I love it. It is MASSIVE! So that one is my favorite…it’s from my childhood. The 1979 one is my favorite. The old stuff is awesome

I used sinks as a pool, shoe boxes as cars and limos, and chairs and couches as bedrooms and studio apartments :)
I'm an old barbie collector. I hD the first ever pool for Malibu barbie. Loved it. Hours of play
Omd you just unearthed a long lost memory of Kelly’s water slide! I had completely forgotten about it until now!
I like how you said almost everyone was your favorite, lol! I had the crystal clear pool. Seeing it now has brought back great memories, thank you for that!
It’s good to see Barbie content that’s actually super insightful and not just like those crappy kids toy egg surprise channels
I love these Barbie playset videos of yours. It's so interesting seeing how the playsets change through the decades! it's shocking to see that the size of the pools would start to decrease around the time mattel dropped the quality of the dolls
Fountain Lights so cool with slide!
I actually really love how the first Barbie pool looks like something that someone probably actually had in their backyard

I was going to say the same thing. I’d love see how evolved the swimmings changed and color schemes ❤
I got the 1986 pool set for Christmas 1987 along with tropical Barbie and Hawaii Miko. 10:10 I was so certain I had never had any kind of Barbie pool growing up, until that pink whale unlocked a childhood memory
I had the 1986 tropical pool and loooooved it!
I had the bubbling spa! I got it for my 5th birthday in 1985!
I pressed the bubbler constantly! 😮
I would kill for a whole barbie water park with actual water slides that work
I think its so sweet that his mom was supportive of his love for barbies enough to turn the bathroom into a barbie pool playland... especially from a time when there was even more of a stigma to boys playing with dolls its sweet to hear stories of parents being supportive of their kids inerests
Wow. Your mom for the win! What a lovely thought for putting in those sinks just for you and your Barbies! Wow.
Wow, what a great Mom you have! Your own built in indoor Barbie swimming pool!
I had one of the Vintage Pool for my 1960 's Barbies'. This Pool was Very Deep & Big.This was the First one I purchased 1973. Sold when I moved to Calgary, Canada

I love this new series of videos showing everything Barbie ever owned! Thanks for sharing your art with us doll lovers. xo

This was a really fun overview! I have so many different beach Barbies from the thrift stores, probably 2 dozen ( I just found Splash n Color Teresa a week ago), but I had no idea there were so many pools for them. Thanks for educating me!
The Fountain Pool is definitely the best. So decadent!

Colour change fountain pool is Iconic. I got it for my birthday a couple of years ago, best pool ever.
I had the cruise ship with a built in pool- I loved that thing
I HAD superslide Kelly! Attaching that cute slide to my bathtub was always such a treat for me!
Mom picking out a sink with you and your dolls in mind is so wholesome
I love this type of videos. Specially when i see something that i used to have or always wanted ..
I have the first pool and of course Malibu Barbie and Francine and skipper Christy. I want a dream pool and the one that goes with my Miko doll, the Hawaiian set I think.
I had the early 1980s pink spa. God I loved that pool.
That Sun Sensation Barbie in the gold bikini was my first-ever Barbie doll! I always loved her the best.

I literally love this series so much!!! That was so much fun!!!! Barbie had such amazing pools!! ^^💗
I didn't have Barbie pools as a kid but I do have from 1998 the Barbie Pearl Beach in blue and she's still around in my collection today!
My older sisters would just use Tupperware containers when their friends/our nextdoor neighbours came over to play Barbie dolls.
@@smb-c3po I couldn't do that with my mother's Tupperware containers growing up unless it was for food or holding something I couldn't touch them.
@@rubyhay450 My parents were actually pretty chill about that.
Can you do all the barbie movie castles
I still have photos from Easter when I got the Kelly slide as a present. I played so much with it in the bathtub!
I had the 1984 bubbling spa as a kid, I still have it today, I loved pushing that plunger n seeing the air bubbles, it was amazing to play w
I'm so excited you did this series! So much nostalgia. Another great retrospective:) I had the fountain pool as a kid...it was so much fun
We also had one of those ones from the mid 80’s that we had as a hand me down, but it had a wood paneling pattern on the side, but the furniture was the same
Wet N' Wild was an actual waterpark at the time. She was a co-branded situation. Barbie did that quite a bit in the 80/90's.
I had the bubbling spa! Loved loved loved it!
9:58 I have that doll in the orange swimsuit! She was one of my favorites. I called her Stella.
What a great idea! I'm gonna try that.😊
What a great idea! I'm gonna try that.😊
I've never had one, my barbies swam inside a tupperware hahahaha.
I had no
Idea there where so many different pools.” I never had one as a child but now as an adult collector I want one!
I loved playing with them
"A dark time in Barbie history...." 😅😂 15:40
I had the Kelly Slide for the bath and the 2002 for the first birthday I can remember- I LOOVED the Kelly slide.
I’m sure my mom tossed it cause it probably got gnarly on the bath- but I loved that SOOO much
I remember seeing commercials for the Barbie Beach Bungalow on TV as a kid. I wanted it so badly that I still remember the commercials now at age 26!!
A thorough cleaning, followed by freshening up all of the white pieces with bright white spray paint, a new "rules of the pool" decal, and you're good to go.
tropical splash Barbie was my 1rst original one. I also had pearl beach Barbie, but the pool I only had the Paradise one, loved it
Yaaay! I had a 2005 Cali girl pool! So bittersweet memories. Still remember the smell of coconut of my Cali girl Barbie 🥥🏝🥲🤍
Meanwhile me as a kid playing with a plastic icecream tub as if it is a Barbie pool
Glam beach was my childhood one I had. LOVED IT
I inherited the original 1984 pool/jacuzzi with the bubble button one. I have fond memories of my Glitter Beach Kira/Marina chillin' in that pool.
