How can you call this "simple" when the vast majority of people dont have a metal lathe?? 😂

I actually bought one of these many years ago when I first got into machining and metal working.
It only took a couple of times using my centering gizmo to realize that it was off by about 3/64".
Now days if I need to drill dead center into the side of a cylindrical work piece, I'll just mount a short section of that same work piece onto the lathe and drill a hole down the center of it.
I can then place my main work piece in my drill press vice and with my short drilled out piece of that same metal stock at a right angle to my main work piece, it acts as a centering guide for drilling a perfectly centered hole.

2 things to consider. Accuracy of the bracket's factory dimensions & accuracy of your modification to the bracket. Once you've found center, put a machinists level against the bottom of the "legs".

I love your videos! Practical and quick device, but I think it's better to make the reference on the side and use the machine's digital ruler to find the center of the piece.

He could have miced the piece and easily used the machine to find the center. Seems like a wire-plier attempt at aerospace engineering. Needs to get a set of wigglers; if you want to be really accurate.
