Nut splitter been around 50 years + why would anybody be surprised by it?
I came into say this , nice job at making one
I can't imagine that any car mechanic, pro or otherwise, would be surprised by this simple $10 tool.
Quite so - I've been using them for over 50 years
Title is crap but the point of the video is to show folks who have the time, tools and inclination, one way of making one for themselves. Quite enjoyable making your own tools ... tends to make you less likely to abuse them when tired or in a hurry
Exactly! It's a simple nut splitter, just like any of the 3 or more different versions you can buy on Amazon right now and HAVE been around for 60 years that I personally have been seeing them and probably a lot longer.
Not that many people have access to both a lathe AND a mill and even if they did, Without hardening that probably only mild steel hex stock he used AND the main unit, they wouldn't last long either. This thing can only handle pretty small nuts too while the Amazon or EBay cheapies at least might.
I'd estimate even with the equipment, at least around 4 hours to make, and that's assuming you've got all tooling handy, including the knurling tool, another hour or so IF you've used good high carbon steel and harden then temper the parts appropriately. I value my time at more than the around $2 an hour that piece of junk works out to. I'd also rather have one that is capable of bigger than nuts for 1/4 inch thread.
Ottima idea! Complimenti per il bellissimo laboratorio, invidiabile anche il magnifico tornio. 👍👋Un saluto da Roma
My Dad had one, about 60 years ago. He was a lorry and tractor mechanic.
I don't remember him ever using it.
Nice to see forgotten tools brought back to life.
Hell of a workshop an great skills brilliant stuff😊
Thank you very much my friend and welcome😉
Thanks, my friend for your hard work. Good workshop😊
احسنت صديقي المبدع ❤❤
شكرا لي
Nice build. It's funny how many people forget that these exist. They work great on nuts that have rusted into really odd shapes, like on old railroad engines or tanks. You see those people using torches to cut the nuts and the bolt off instead of just breaking the nut.
👍👍👍
Standard nut splitter, there are also hydraulic ones available as they rarely seem to work
The hydraulic type is the best in use. I have a hydraulic splitter made by KD Tools which has the shank part offset at an angle thus making it easier to get into tight spaces with.
A nut splitter. I bought one mony moons ago. I never used it much.
Ah, the wheel re-invented….
That is cool 🤔
Thank you and welcome🙂
Rien de nouveau , cela existe depuis un siècle ..mais belle prestation et un atelier de rêve
Merci et bienvenue🙂
Another winner Sergey! Well done mate.
Thank you, friend:)
Honestly, this channel is super for me, everything you show is great, good luck to you!!!
Thank you, friend😉
Nice craftsmanship.
Thanks, bro😉
Good work! Nice
New backsplash looks very cool. The new paint scheme sounds nice also. You have this. Everyone stay safe, warm, happy and healthy

Buen trabajo 👍 Saludos
Muchas gracias y bienvenido😉
Good job 👍🏻👍🏻
So much fun and pride in making it yourself from scrape around the shop. Now make it about 1/3 the size to be more applicable for automotive applications to get into tight spaces.
Here we have wait for it wait for it right to the end a nut splitter ! I have one about 60 years old I think How innovative !
Clickbait. If anyone was surprised by this, they weren't a professional mechanic.
You are the best master!!! Good work! 👍👍👍
Thanks, bro😉
Bolt splitter. Made about 100 years ago by everyone
I own one that I bought at Sears.
Nice job! Thank you Sir!
Thanks, bro.
Buy real bandsaw blades and that won't happen, not METAL MASTERS
great idea
Nice work.
But why should one make such a tool, that you can buy for few Euros (Dollars, Rubel) ?
And maybe you should use coolant for your saw to avoid breaking blades.?
great work
Thanks, bro😉
wish I had a £1 every time I have made one of those I worked in metal finishing for many years and on the Acid/Zinc plating plant you had little or no chance of getting a spanner on a nut
You spent the afternoon making a tool you can buy for a few dollars.
That's what I thought seems this man has nothing to do, well actually he is trying to get some views to get some money from YT:-)))
Schöne Werkstatt. 👍
wow - going to try and make one, what do you use to get the metal black?
Cold metal bluing liquid, bought on aliexpress😉
What brand of inserts do you use, TY

why all this trouble when you can buy a hydraulic nut splitter for a few dollars
I’ve had one for about 50 years….nice work, but nothing new..
Isn't it necessary to use coolant when cutting and machining steel?
I have one made by Lisle 40 years ago. Maybe 50.
I’ve never seen one ! Thanks ! Going to make one !
Thank you very much my friend and welcome🙂
Buy an angle grinder….jeeze what a wast of time
0:17 for this case I use a TIG welding 😋
if I took cut like that my lathe would lay down and die
Hola Padre le mando saludos, Ave Maria
dudes got a neural link insataLLED
Maquinas do inferno!
Herramienta casera????? este wey!!!! Jejeje
I dont know about you but you cant re-invent a clamp ours have a rectangular hole for holding strips of steel :-\
Don't really see the point in making one, they can be bought in North America for $15 or less. What's your time worth?
i have one of those in my garage?....nothing new here?
very good super cool
Thanks, bro, and welcome😉
I don't understand the purpose of this tool..
It is a nut splitter which is useful when dealing with rusted or seized nuts. They are commercially available from a number of reputable brands....look up nut splitter.
A tool like this has been designed and patented years ago. Nothing new. Just stealing others ideas for your channel.
@Love2F, except the satisfaction that you made something with your own hands that many people just buy and don’t have any idea what it takes to produce the item 😉 ! Plus you save a few bucks ! 😊.
You can't re-invent the wheel!!
Cobalt dust is VERY harmful, wear a mask while grinding a drill
Thank you and welcome friend😉
jezeli sruba byla juz w imadle to po co rozwalac nakretke?????????????????nie lepiej odkrecic????????????? bez sensu filmik
