+ Inventive as ever! Hat's really smart use of existing parts. Where do you live? Soviet stuff is very hard to get here in the netherlands😉 I can only wish I could be as good at metalwork as you are. The ony way to get the big spindle to run smoother is by turning it straight on a lathe. That can be s simple construction like bolting it over an axle with bearings n both sides. Then sanding it round doesn't vibrate as much. Those vibrations give a larger movement at the top of the spindle than at the bottom. That's why you can't get them out with running it from a single sided bearing.

Brilliant. Quality work. Wood. Metal. Welding. Electrical. Mechanical. CNC. Design conception and esthetics. It's all in the details. You sir are an excellent engineer.
Genial. Enhorabuena.
Hello, dear teacher, very beautiful and excellent service in the world, very delicate and accurate, and of course, very solid and practical. It can't be better than this.
Nicely designed and manufactured. The reason the large diameter is vibrating is because your only attachment is below the table. So any irregularities will be amplified. Other than making the support shaft solid and balanced perfect, you will just have to deal with it... Thumbs Up! My Grizzly spindle sander has the motor shaft (armature) extend all the way up to the top of every diameter spindle setup. So that helps control the vibrations of any of the diameter spindles installed.
Hi The work is amazing, very wonderful, in the full sense of the word, well done, and totally worth watching Greetings to you and I wish you success and further progress Abdullah from the State of Kuwait

Absolutely mesmerizing. If I found a motor that has a cover, I'm afraid to even think about taking the cover off, to make an oscillating sander comprised of old parts and a mixture of wood and metal, hats off to you sir.++++++++++++++++×+++
Very nice! The vibration with the larger spindle most likely has to do with the laminated plywood circles having some inconsistencies in the layers (voids, denser wood in some places, etc.) creating the vibration when spun. If you have any MDF laying around, that might make for a more balance material for the larger spindle.
I think if you take inox screw or hard steel (long screw ) it maybe more stable the long screw in your machine is very week she have durability 6-8 you must take inox or steel who have durability 11 and up
First of all, nice job! You can clearly see from the video the big one is spinning out of center. Most lickely due to unbalance and long but thin spindle axle. No (wood) lathe around? A way around it is to make a "brace" for the spindle with a bearing to stabelize the spindle and then sand it with your blok to make it more consistent. After tbat you can balance the big one on the axle! This should take care of most or all of the vibration. Hope this helps
I thought my work was good ,but looking at your standard i think better i learn to bake bread instead. My workshop here in Thailand is messy when i look at yours. Thank you. most enjoyable. From an old English guy who is 86 years old.
This is beyond amazing, To have the knowledge you have to build something like this makes me terribly jealous to say the least. Building your own is far better than a lot of the ones on the market and the beauty is it's all to your own specifications too. Awesome work and fantastic video mate 👌 👏 👍🏽+
While your craftsmanship is outstanding. And I do enjoy the build. I bought one at harbor freight 20 yrs ago. For less than US$100. It is a good tool. And oscillating beltsander may be next
A very enjoyable watch! I agree that the vibration has to do with the discs, but it could also be that the spindle is not seated deeply enough! Thank you!
A few great ideas in this. The routing jigs for the lap joints is something blindingly obvious that I've never thought of! A bit late now but it might be better to level off your big spindle by mounting it between canters on a lathe.
Hi Gregory, very Impressive! I realy would to start to rebuild it immediatly, but unfortuately, I dont have enough space in my little workshop. For the wobbly spindle, I think: Threaded rods are mostly not exactly straight and the weight on the end of the spindle (the added wood) let the tiny wobble of the rod rock up tho this shaking. Also the wood could be not exact ballanced. I had this Problem with a homemade disc-sander. The disk was made of Plywood and was shaking too. the only solution with this problem was to make the disk from a more uniform material. I took MDF, and the shaking was done... EDIT: Also if the Pipe is'nt cut EXACTLY 90°, then this could also result in this wobble... Keep going...
Hello, thank you for your comment. Yes, I checked the big sanding drum and it's totally unbalanced plus it's not perfectly round. First I will try to fix the geometry on the lathe, if not helps - will have to change the plywood to more uniform material as you said. Thanks
My suggestion would be to make your arbor for the larger drum a larger diameter. That’s a pretty thin piece of tubing you used. Try something bigger diameter and after you have put on all the wood pieces you could try to static balance the spindle. I believe that would solve all of your wobble. Remember weebles wobble but don’t fall down 😂😂. Seriously I think you should try it. Otherwise I’m very impressed! I’ve been a toolmaker for 50 + years and find your skills to be awesome! I really like how you made the video too 🤙🏻🤙🏻. Well done young man.
