    I got this old, rusty adjustable wrench from my father in law. He was using as it was and had no problem that it was rusted and had no handle. It's probably more than 100 years old.
    First I removed the loose rust using water and then vinegar and then the makers mark became visible. Goldenberg, an old German tool company, I think.
    After rust removing and polishing, I made a handle for it from some random wood on the lathe.

    Use citric acid its way much cheaper than vinegar . It takes some time but when you need to fill the big bucket you wont find cheaper way of rust removing . And you can reuse it .
    2-3$ for 1kg which is enough for 10L.
    Its mild so it wont etch part too much . later you scrub it with kitchen wire and washing machine powder. I dont use wire wheels anymore . Best discovery ever.

    Beautiful job. The one thing I didn't like thought, was that you had to cut the drilling tip, in order to use it as guiding rods...

    • @TheSmallWorkshop
      @TheSmallWorkshop  Год назад +1

      It was an old masonry drill, more than 20 years old, but I've never used it because it does not have an SDS tail, so it's basically useless. Drilling concrete with a regular drill of that size would be a pain and would take forever and a similar SDS drill is very cheap.

    • @MarkMcCluney
      @MarkMcCluney 2 года назад +1

      @@ericfg806 Yes! At first I thought that must be what it was but I reckoned it would quickly disintegrate at high revs. I guess it must be something along those lines though. Cheers Eric.

    • @TheSmallWorkshop
      @TheSmallWorkshop  2 года назад +2

      It's a chinese wheel, no brand, no name, I buy them from the flea market. Looking on google the closest results I get when searching for "nylon fiber abrasive wheel" on google images. It's similar to the back of the dishwasher sponge, only woven tighter.
