I got this old, rusty adjustable wrench from my father in law. He was using as it was and had no problem that it was rusted and had no handle. It's probably more than 100 years old.
First I removed the loose rust using water and then vinegar and then the makers mark became visible. Goldenberg, an old German tool company, I think.
After rust removing and polishing, I made a handle for it from some random wood on the lathe.

First time ever on RUclips where I could actually see what was happening during welding. Nicely done!

I’m 99% sure that tool is now BETTER than when it was brand new. Just gorgeous. Nice job, as always! 😍

One of the cleanest restorations you've done in my opinions.
How many opinions you got

Very nicely done. That random piece of firewood ties it together and that pipe cap was brilliant.

Brilliant stuff. I like your no nonsense aproach. Only thing I would have added were interlocking teeth on the jaws for grip.
good job this is not just work this is art
I was bored and disappointed seeing restoration videos using sand blaster to remove rust and felt the actual restoration hardwork is gone. This video is a refresher for me. Thank you for not using that god damned sand blaster!

New sub! Liked ✌️😛😀❤️
Use citric acid its way much cheaper than vinegar . It takes some time but when you need to fill the big bucket you wont find cheaper way of rust removing . And you can reuse it .
2-3$ for 1kg which is enough for 10L.
Its mild so it wont etch part too much . later you scrub it with kitchen wire and washing machine powder. I dont use wire wheels anymore . Best discovery ever.
You have finaly upload

Beautiful job. The one thing I didn't like thought, was that you had to cut the drilling tip, in order to use it as guiding rods...
It was an old masonry drill, more than 20 years old, but I've never used it because it does not have an SDS tail, so it's basically useless. Drilling concrete with a regular drill of that size would be a pain and would take forever and a similar SDS drill is very cheap.
Very enjoyable. I never saw a tool like that before; I hope your father in law enjoys this 'new' tool. Incidentally, what was that green wheel that leaves the 'satin finish'? Cheers mate, that was fun.
Re: the green wheel. Was wondering about that myself. Looked like a scotchbrite type nylon pad material but it sparked so ...?
@@ericfg806 Yes! At first I thought that must be what it was but I reckoned it would quickly disintegrate at high revs. I guess it must be something along those lines though. Cheers Eric.
It's a chinese wheel, no brand, no name, I buy them from the flea market. Looking on google the closest results I get when searching for "nylon fiber abrasive wheel" on google images. It's similar to the back of the dishwasher sponge, only woven tighter.
