I am at work right now so I'll watch it when I get home. I love the vintage tools and machines that you restore. They are unique. I also enjoy waiting for Avril's cameo each time too.
I'm not a machinist, wood crafter, antiques dealer, etc. but I recognize careful work in restoring this piece. I love seeing these old tools. Tres jolie!
What a beauty !!! Another absolutely gorgeous piece of history brought back to near new condition. I have to admit I never seen one of them, adding to my admiration but totally aware of it's purpose and function. Again a lovely tool that would grace any work bench as a conversation piece and to be admired, where it's working days would be limited, like a senior with a gentleman's past, graciously...

Ouapp, punaise!
I really appreciate the way you lay out all the different elements once you have restored them. It makes it easier to see just how many parts there are to each machine.
Really nice job taking an unusable vice and returning it to service. What is really great is the human touch that is so important when restoring old tools. It’s the fine imperfections the casting marks and how in all it’s imperfections..... it becomes better than machined perfection.
Love the things you choose to restore. Most of them are things a lot of people would discard without a 2nd thought. Also love how you work with every day common tools showing it's not expensive equipment that restores things, it's the hands using them
A really nice ,sympathetic restoration, a good idea to use candle wax on the leadscrew, any oil/grease would soon become clogged with wood dust ! Chris B.
Is anyone else being driven insane that he didn’t make sure that the clamping face was square to the base? When he closes it and I see that gap my machinist blood boils 😅😂
Very nice restoration. You fixed it without replacing all that cool wood. I am impressed. I might have used brass in the jaws to match the hinges on the sides of the one side.
Your work is very unique. I love the use of your vintage tools and where you draw the line between machine work and hand craftsmanship,,,and I LOVED your work with the Dozuki saw! Bravo!
Oh boy! I can't wait until you hit 300k subscribers! We'll all FINALLY get the answer to the question that's been on our minds: "Does Avril 'meow' in French or English?" :-)
A sympathetic restoration while retaining some of the 'bumps' and 'knocks' acquired over the years. Personally, I would have gone for brass jaw plates with brass screws where appropriate. i would have also 'blued' the exposed metal. But an excellent restoration, thanks for sharing.
Are 90% of your viewers crazy? Subscribe for heavens sake! It’s the best restoration channel. Beautiful restore BTW. These are so relaxing and Dad Hands LABD is an artist and craftsman.
Avril is awesome and I'm glad that you guys include him in your videos. As always great job on this cool old vise. It be fun to make one from scratch too.
Saw the notification, immediately liked and comment before I even watched the entire video. Lol Edit: I never thought that the majority of this vise are made of wood.
Having watched a number of restoration videos and restored items myself. Let me say that You Gentlemen do that Best Job of anyone I have seen. You truly do the restoration process as it should be done. Peace..
The jaw plates were most likely lead I can see why you chose to use aluminum. What made you change the grain on the jaws you repaired LADB? It looks like that round metal plate was added at a later date. I'm pretty sure they didn't have plasma cutters in the 1850s
Oxygen torches was actualy introduced 1914, Hydrogen, single gas torches existed in the 1890s, but yes, probably from the 1930-40s, but that plate is very handy so i had kept it too.
Hola from Spain!!! Long time watcher now and I really like your content. When an object is worth restoring over one knows its a good design and would like it to last for as long as possible. If you could add some measurements for this more crafteable objects it would be much appreciated!! Great work, keep ´em coming =)
The plate you turned over about 11 min. looked like it had outer edges that looked like it had be cut from a larger piece with a cutting torch. Good video again sir!
Love your work, first time commenter, long time watcher. Make sure you all subscribe, this guy is worth it, he does great work and his assistant is very diligent.
Who was the craftsman that performed the restoration? The close-ups of his hands revealed this was an older gentleman with years of experience at the work bench.
Don't miss Avril's Voice Reveal at 300k subs and SUBSCRIBE Now !! :-)

My Spanish-speaking cat says, “Miau”. What about Avril? I am eagerly awaiting her voice!
god these type channels are so therapeutic, way better and more interesting than ASMR

I can already tell this is going to be a "binge watch" channel. Keep up the phenomenal work!
I really appreciate the way you lay out all the different elements once you have restored them. It makes it easier to see just how many parts there are to each machine.
Never saw a vice like that. You did a great job with preserving the natural look but repairing only what was needed!
Awesome job!! 👍👍👍

Apart from Avril, the best part of this channel is the completely relaxed way that everything is done. Absolutely nothing is rushed.

I love it when you leave some wear and tear in your restorations.
Quelle belle pièce d'outils anciens d'artisan. Amoureusement restauré dans un état presque parfait. Excellent travail! Salutations de Southport UK.
Magnifique, comme d'habitude. LADB et My Mechanics, les deux références du domaine.
Nice job......the repair looks like it was done a long time ago.....blends right in...
Excellent restoration!
I also restored one that looked like this... But I treated the wood with epoxy resin in a vacuum chamber.
Is anyone else being driven insane that he didn’t make sure that the clamping face was square to the base? When he closes it and I see that gap my machinist blood boils 😅😂
Love the look of the wooden vise I might have to try and recreate it
This is my favorite work yet! Updated, fixed and still true to its age and function.
Excellent restoration....a good blend of respect and craftsmanship....c'est magnifique!

Really neat a vise made of wood I love it !! You cleaned it up very well without making it look new ! Very good work !!

An excellent restoration... WELL DONE!!! 10/10
I have not seen a wooden vice before thanks for choosing it to restore.
My Mechanics approves of his counter-sinking
Tommy Hill, “I make a new one!” Love my mechanics!
Haven't seen him for a while though. Hope he's ok
Like to watch restoration projects. You always do interesting pieces. I Like it when Avril supervises.
Great job. I love it doesn't look completely new.....just refreshed. Subscribed.
I think so far my favourite restoration on your channel. Thank you! Unusual vise and you did a true and beautiful job.
Excellent restoration, pity you didn't use brass for the Jaws 👍🇮🇪

I thought you wasn’t gonna stain the wood. I was thinking in my head. I know he wants to keep it looking vintage but wow. Lol
Mesmerizing video ...and as always a lovely result...God Bless...
Lovely job

Avril is awesome and I'm glad that you guys include him in your videos. As always great job on this cool old vise. It be fun to make one from scratch too.
Wow, that is absolutely beautiful. I have no use for a vise, but I'd love to have it just to put on a shelf to look at.
Saw the notification, immediately liked and comment before I even watched the entire video. Lol
Edit: I never thought that the majority of this vise are made of wood.
Me too. I hit 'like' even though I can't watch it until later. There's no chance I won't like it anyway... shop supervisor Avril runs a tight ship.
Thanks for the new Material. I literally watched every video you have done.
Parabéns pela restauração. Peça muito legal. 👏🏻👏🏻👉🏻🍻

The plate looks flame cut, a 19th century oxy-hydrogen torch would've been well up to the job.
Hi bro 👋👋👋 very good restoration woodcarving vise 👍👍👍💣💪👌🏽
Just perfect. Beautifully done. 👍👍👍
