    I added the full progressive Deaver leaf springs and added Firestone ride rite bags to make up for lost capacity. It’s 100% worth it.

    • @mcmahansgarage
      @mcmahansgarage  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah that’s what I was thinking about doing. Honestly just wish I would have done that from the beginning. Did the rear get significantly softer?

    • @derekeasley5894
      @derekeasley5894 6 месяцев назад +1

      Very much so. My 250 is the tremor which all come with 350 spring packs. So it was pretty rough

    • @Powerstroke7911
      @Powerstroke7911 5 месяцев назад

      I have a ‘06 F250, but it has the 350 spring packs due to the slide in camper package (only on the 2” 250 blocks). It’s on all stock springs with a cheap 2” puck leveling kit rolling on 35” tires. It rides really rough as you would expect. I would love to do the 4.5” Pintop system on 37s, but may have to stick with a 2.5 system and 35s due to my wife having MS and a bad back. I would love something that rides a bit smoother. You say the full progressive spring packs are worth the extra cost? And they hold up to trailer towing? We’re planning to get a 5th wheel camper sometime this year, hopefully!

    • @derekeasley5894
      @derekeasley5894 5 месяцев назад

      It really depends on the weight and frequency you plan to be pulling the fifth wheel. If you do go with the full progressives, you’ll need to add air bags to compensate for lost capacity. Or you could go the “add a pack” route. Which means leaving your existing leaf pack but removing the thick over load leaf and replacing it with the thinner (I think it’s either 3 or 5) thinner leaf add a pack. Also know that the pintop isn’t going to have a great on road ride as it’s tuned for higher speed off road cruising.

    I have a 2020 F250 7.3 with 37 12.5 x20's on Falkin Wild peak AT3's on a 9" wheel. I also got a 5 Star tune and it adjusted the tranny, speedo and gave me a few more ponies. I got everything on the front end from CNC with the exception of the torsion sway bar. I Love the truck that I don't want to get rid of it. As you mentioned, tire inflation is important. I tow a 16k skid steer and 17k boat and I have been leaving my fronts at 53psi and 46psi in the rear. When it's cold they both drop 6psi and the truck rides even better. I drove this way for about 40,000 miles and then I added their full progressive leafs with a air bag set up. Let me tell you way better ..hands down. When I get my 2025 I will do exactly the same set up front to back.

      I’m so jealous man! You’re like the 3rd person that has said the full leafs are amazing. I’ll have to save some money and do some upgrades! Lol

    Only issue is that Carli Suspension is readily avaliable from CJC, last I checked thuren was on back order for any of the king shock kits
    But also the carli shocks have a really good warranty
    Completely changed my Ram, but to each his own.

    You can see my full build of my 2020 F-350 on Carli's Website and RUclips Channel. Dan does a great breakdown of every component. In regards to what you are talking about with the rear leaf springs, I'll tell you what Dan told me. Buy the Full Progressive Deaver packs. The add - a - packs are somewhat a compromise. So you really don't get the full or true benefit. I have the full progressive Deaver Packs and the Long Travel Carli Air Bags. This combo produces the perfect setup IMO. I tow a Fifth Wheel Toy-Hauler so the bags really support my weight and need there. When not towing, the Progressive Packs provide a smooth ride for a 1 Ton truck.
    I've owned several Super Duty's over the years and went with the status quo (rear block). I'm now convinced of the proven suspension of Carli. In some cases, it does come down to budget.
    If your in So. Cal, I'd be willing to let you drive my F-350 so you could really get an idea of the difference. I think you'd come away with a whole different prospective of the Full Deaver Packs.
    Scott

      I agree that the full leaf is the way to go. What I’m simply saying is if your budget is only enough for add a packs I would spend that money on something else like the sway bar. If I could go back I’d love to have just waited a little longer and upgraded to a full system. I appreciate you offering to let me drive your truck. I truly am curious on how different the set up actually is.

    I agree with the rear I did the full progessive leafs on my 08 ram 2500 and its pretty much the same as it was stock with less towing capacity i really feel like i should of gone with the thuren full leaf pack

    • @mcmahansgarage
      @mcmahansgarage  6 месяцев назад

      I’m actually surprised to hear that. I figured the full progressive leaf would be way better than stock. Did you ever get a thuren to so if it was better?

  • @TW-pq3hn
    @TW-pq3hn 6 месяцев назад +2

    Your wrong about the rear end. I originally had the commuter kit and now I have the Pintops. My rear end is still stock. I will be getting the progressive leaf springs which will smooth out the rear end. Additionally your add-a-packs are probably not even broken in yet.
    PEOPLE PLEASE DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS GUY! If you own a ford go to the Tremor forum and talk to Dan the VP of Carli Suspension. He will answer any questions you have.
    Again I 100% disagree with this assessment.

    • @mcmahansgarage
      @mcmahansgarage  6 месяцев назад +1

      So you think the add a pack is worth $1,100 compared to just going with full leafs and adding air bags?

    • @TW-pq3hn
      @TW-pq3hn 6 месяцев назад

      Yes I do. I guarantee that if you compare it with stock leaf springs you will find it is an improvement that balances your factory payload and increasing performance. I am 100% confident that you have more travel and a better ride than without it. I would also encourage you to put a 1000 pounds in your bed to assist with breaking in the add a pack. Honestly I would never consider the add a pack as an option though if ride improvement is your goal.
      Another difference between the new Carli Commuter shocks and your Fox 2.0s is I believe they can be paired with the progressive springs and yours cannot.
      The best thing about Carli is that you can piece together the lift you want and see the tangible improvements. I was concerned about upgrading to the Pintops because of reviews I had read but, I truly couldn’t be happier. It handles like a sports car. I can’t wait to upgrade the rear springs and the sway bar.
      As far as payload management I will start with the timbrens until I have the money for full travel bags. I will just install them when I am towing and remove them for off-roading and daily driving. It’s not that big of a task.

  • @tikitorch3117
    @tikitorch3117 6 месяцев назад +1

    I’ve heard from multiple guys that the rear Deaver leaf packs are just a rip off. We all had 2nd gens though things might be different with the newer super duty’s. My dad has a new 22 350 and did the Camburg kit in the front with 3.0 King coil overs in the front and rear. Huge improvement and handling but the rear still is kinda stiff. Seems like you can only get so far with leaf springs in terms or ride. At the end of the day these are still big heavy diesel trucks that aren’t meant to ride like a Baja 1000 truck unfortunately. Haha. Nice honest review!
