  • I get lots of questions about the ability to color mark stainless steel with a diode laser. I put this video together to answer some of the questions that are out there.

Have also tried stainless with same results. Different grades of stainless won't burn the same either. It's fun trying it all out though.

Thank you for taking the time to do this one. Great information and starting point for when mine arrives. (Tuesday) I will probably watch it a couple of more times. 😅

There are so many different types of stainless, like 304 and 316. Some have carbon, chromium, nickel, molybdenum, etc. So I can see why your results will differ.

I have a 10/30W MK2 and have been thinking of doing some stainless steel dog tags. I've seen on amazon stuff listed as Shiny Stainless Steel Military spec Rolled Edge Backing or T304 STAINLESS STEEL Tags. Are both or neither of these blue diode friendly? Do you have an affiliate link for dog tags or one you recommend? Thanks for the great video.

Avoid the shiny ones unless you have a fiber. I may order some blanks and do a video on the better ones. I have a few that work but there may be better ones out there.
