- Duesenberg released a 25th Anniversary model of their legendary guitar, the Starplayer TV. It comes in Silver Metallic, and most interestingly, with a brand new design of pickups, the SPLIT/KING pickups. Are they worth the upcharge over a standard Starplayer TV? In this video we're comparing an original Starplayer versus the 25th Anniversary model.
The Duesenberg 25th Anniversary Starplayer TV features their innovative Duesenberg Split/King Pickups. This pickup is capable of delivering both real humbucker and real singlecoil tone through a special construction unlike any other pickup.

I purchased the 25tg Anniversary about 2 months ago. I'm in absolute love with it. Sounds gorgeous through every amp in the collection, high gain or low...stellar.
New pickups have more potential for bite and sound a bit more articulate, yet dial a touch back on the tone knob, and you can voice close to the originals
Both sounds actually great 👍🏼
4:43 smoothest funky triple rythm stroke ever
Excellent sounds from both guitars. Very much helped by some super tasty playing.
Thanks. Good playing and acoustics. Honestly we can enjoy your video over RUclips but we really cannot hear what you are hearing live in your studio. So your offering more of your own thoughts would be helpful. I am looking into what Duesenberg to buy (gas) so a review of their different models would be great.
The Split King is a nice feauture, but I think they sould have kept the P90 in the neck position. It gives it a smoothness that you don't get with the Split King, either in single or double setting.
Love that guitar! Thanks for the review. Best wishes!
Great playing man!
Both sound great and a judgment is subjective but I prefer the original in this clip on all but the bridge, the bridge pick up is outstanding on the new model.
Awesome video. Love the comparison. I want one just wish there was one near me.
@@tonezone4745 I am in the Detroit area. I have discussed with Huber Breese and they have one on order. With great videos like this I am getting anxious.
Matter of the taste. The original model sounds fatter.
Great video man! I want a deusey so bad... it’s hard for my ear to contrast the tones from those two guitars because they’re both so good.... those new pickups sound incredible though!
Well.
As the sound of it:
1) The neck is more warm on the old one.
2) The middle position has the brilliant quack on the old one, which is the new one missing - regardless of single/paf settings.
3) The bridge is more coarse on the old ones, I like the tone on the new better.
I'm a sucker fort tone options though ... But I think I leave it to my 2016 Starplayer Custom dialling in the middle pup.
If only I had the money to own multiple of them. Would need to fire the wife.
Thinking of that: that would free up some cash though, before her lawyer could get a hold it ... Hmmmm.
You had me at a fort tone.
Man! Great playing first of all… I don’t know, I still kinda like the original. 🤷🏻♂️
