I have to agree with you on all points - and I rarely do that! I love the pop and treble tones of the Starplayer over all, but your demo certainly pointed out the usefulness of the milder, warmer sounds of the Julia on certain styles! If I had to choose one, it would be the Starplayer - it reminds me of my old Gretsch 6120. I could dial down the treble for certain parts with a good EQ. They BOTH sound great!!!!!!!!
Duesey takes the guitar making craft to a whole new level. It s on everybodies whish list I guess. But my God. Which one to buy?? Starplayer, Paloma, Julia, CC, Caribou? Deluxe, Phonix, Custom, Joe Walsh, ... Whaaaaahhh!!!!
Hallo und guten Morgen, from California! I have recently become aware and interested in Duesenberg guitars. I was searching for an instrument with a unique voice and tonal character...I think I found it in Duesenberg. Love the STARPLAYER TV!!!! Thank you, for a GR8 post! Cheers! 👍🏽
Great comparison, loved them both!!!! I love all the Dusenberg models, currently I have a 49er in beautiful honey and a cream colored Starplayer Special which I installed a Les Trem. The 49er has an incredible 'jangle' to it, and the Starplayer Special is right up there with the Starplayer TV, but at about a half the cost. However, I don't think either the 49er or Starplayer Special are in production anymore.
Wouldn't you say that the pickups have way more impact on the sound than the material of the body? If you want to hear the material-based sound difference, you should use the same pickups on both guitars. 🙂 Great playing, by the way.
I have a Starplayer, and I love it. If I had a Julia, I would love her to. If you turn back the Tone of the Starplayer, it sounds warm to and has still a certain clarity. The Paloma would be a interesting alternative. A guy from Holland, Evert Zeevalkink, did a great demo of the Paloma and other Duesis. Realy good guitars for a fair price.
i totally fell in love with my starplayer. i have played many gibson and fender custom shops but this is it! not just bang for the buck but in many ways just better… its pure heaven for my style of playing. only downsize is that they didnt put rollers on the bridge. so it gets out of tune (g string especially) when using their tremolo system…
Why no “solo” for the Starplayer? The Julia gets one at around 6:57 but then the video wraps up without a similar passage for the Starplayer....kinda disappointing.

For me the Starplayer is a little better in clean sounds, just alittle. and using crunch sounds the other way round, the Julia is better. Both guitars are brilliant.
Henry, I've been playing my blue sparkle TV for a couple years now at church and it rocks. Such a comfortable guitar to play and hands down the best tremolo ever designed. My only knock on it is the the Domino P 90 is a bit dark for my taste but still one of my favorite guitars. I think another Grand vintage in the neck or even a D Tron would be more flexible.
I can assure you that these guys were not thinking about what you call worship playing when they were drawing up the blue prints for these epic guitars. Who ever told you such a thing anyway?
Would be interesting if you could get the Starplayer to sound like the Julia with some mid-focused OD pedal like a Tubescreamer etc.... What a nice playing by the way!👍🏻
The warm sound on the Julia in clean mode is very impressive.
Great video. I must say Tommy’s playing is great and his finger attack is fantastic. 🤘
Thanks for the comment!

Got my Starplayer TV today and i love it. 💘
Excellent playing and insightful observations. This is a well made video. I have a Caribou and have to say, it is a lovely piece of gear and art.
I prefer the Duesenberg... I would be proud to own and play either of them! Bob in Germany
Amazing sounds and awesome preview!!! Someone that understands how to preview

Buy one a year and put off buying the house!

Great review, good format. Good insights as well.

3:29 is when the magic happens. Beautiful progressions man...👍 👍 👍
Thanks!
It seems like the only real solution is to have one of each. 😁
Sometimes, I save a gear video just for its great, inspiring sounds... this is one of them.
Thanks!!
One of the best demos.

Beautiful style!
My Starplayer is so versatile I can play anything on it. It also has beef for days.
new player went in local shop trying guitars over period of month's kept on trying the starplayer it got me in the end
good test that allows real comparison. big up. usefull.
Starplayers sound better, but the Julia looks 1000 times sexier!
Lovely review but I was waiting for a review of the much revered Duesenberg middle setting??
Nice video! What is the color of that Starplayer?
Great video ... thanks... i still like my Vox Virage... but i do want a Deusenberg
Sorry, but you gotta buy both! :-)) They´re stunning.

I'm wondering the same thing. I was really looking forward to hearing the Starplayer as that's the one I'm leaning towards.
The Julia rocks more on overdriven sound, its true it adds more warmth. While Stv is clearer, more bassy and sustainy on clean sound, I want both.
¡ I would LOVE the Julia with a STOPTAIL BRIDGE !
Sexy guitars and fine playing. Great video.

I sold my starplayer tv because I hated the neck dive, it was SO pronounced. Does the Julie have the same issue?
Both beautiful guitars.

basically duesenburg was build for worship playing😉. I want one some day.... especially the Starplayer TV

bluzzjazz wow! Thats cool man! To be honest this is my dream guitar.
Have you tried to setup the pickup height ? If it sounds dark to your ear, try to lower it just a tad

Oh!! THAT CRUNCH!!!!
love them both!!!!
Still love my starplayer!
What is the colour of the starplayer?
It would take a “perfect pair” to tell my wife I just bought both of these guitars
I love them both. ❤️
Ok, where I can purchase that Duesenberg guitar shirt??
store.duesenberg.de/merchandise/kleidung/66/duesenberg-organic-t-50-s-blue-men-s?c=23
The starplayer is raw epicness
mais uma inscrita e um mega joinha
Decisions decisions!
Julia sounds 335.. starplayer sounds fat tele … Both are outstanding !
Julia for me…
For clean; Julia.
Both And!
I would sell my German automobile and take an Uber to buy one of these German guitars...
Fuck have to by booth :)
