You've convinced me to swap to semi-hydro for as many of my plants will like it. I struggle with chronic pain and plant care can get on top of me quickly lately
I would like to add jade plants (also known as money plants) and spider plants to this. Young spider plants grow quicker in some sun but once they're established you can put them anywhere and they don't need frequent watering, I like to put mine high on to of cupboards, shelves etc because they dangle 😅 They also flower and produce new plants quickly and often, which you can leave on the runners until you're ready to move them to pots. Jade plants are nigh invincible and can survive a long time without water and can also grow happily anywhere. They are also very easy to propagate, you can quite literally grow an entirely new plant from a single leaf, or a stem cutting, just by placing it in soil. Or just even in water.
Wonderful & informative video! I didn’t realize that some of these needed low light & very little water. Now I know! Please please make us a Part 2… and it would be so great if you’d make another Top 5 video of Pet Safe, Full Sun, & Indirect Light!!
Off the top of my head, as someone with pets and way too many plants lol: ferns, calathea (the easiest among these are the ones with greener leaves - calathea orbifolia is my favorite 💚), maranta, palms (except for sago palm), & peperomias (the most drought-tolerant on this list). Haworthia and hoyas aren't low-light plants, but they don't require direct light like most succulents and are pretty tolerant of bright-medium light, along with being pet safe :) A good rule of thumb is that plants with darker green leaves are more efficient at photosynthesizing (more chlorophyll), so darker green varieties will almost always be more low-light tolerant than lighter, colorful, or variegated plants of the same species.
Such a cool idea and I’d love a part 2! Can you also do something like this for full sun plants? I have multiple south facing windows with no plants since everything dries and dies over there
So many house plants prefer bright indirect light. But full sun? Most succulents, including Jade plants. Croton. Herbs. Prayer plant. Snake plants can tolerate low light, but they thrive in sun. Those are some that I have. 😊
If you're still looking for ideas: ponytail palms, money trees, hoyas, succulents (be careful with haworthia and aloe though, you need to acclimate them to that light so they don't burn), majesty palms, and tradescantia (you'd just need to keep up on the watering).
For those of us using a cellphone, would it be possible to place the plant names so that they are not covered or partially covered, especially considering how fast this video flies? Thank you. Good information.
Get some grow lights! I have a super low light apartment and got bulbs from Sansi. Just stuck them into my table lamps, so now I get ambient lighting and and my plants get the “sun” treatment.
Mostly all of my Plants died....It is my plan to buy them and grow them once again.....I hope to grow them as beautiful as yours if possible....Give me some tips if you have any....I have a Plant light.....
Avocado plants are also very good to keep as the leaves will droop very suddenly which reminds you to water your avocado plant Ps: they loveee water. They may need to be watered every couple/few days depending on the environment
Spaths will always always be my number 1. They droop to show you they're thirsty like a true drama queen they bounce right back after a good drink. they LIKE to be in tiny pots/potbound and they flower when they're happy. Mine have thrived on neglect for like 20 yrs hahahaha
Yes, I'd like a part 2. I have a moonshine and need that philo. All mine are in north/west windows or on the patio, as I try to give as much light as possible to thrive, not minimal.
The moonshine sanserivina (sorry for spelling) needs more light. Over time, it will revert back to darker green leaves. I had one for about two years in low light and then it started reverting. I’ve heard this from others as well.
Most sansevierias thrive when in direct sunlight (a few hours daily). I have them in east and south windows (and only one out of over 85 varieties suffered a sun burn - S. 'Blue Kew' ) and much closer than the recommended 50cm distance from a grow light (I have Mother PlantSpectrum 32). The offset and next generations will adapt to the conditions and will do OK. In terms of watering, one should water them as other plants, but they need to fully dry between waterings and be in a well draining substrate. I gradually moved mine to pon (I started end August last year), and most of them are in self-watering pots now. 💚💚💚💚💚
Philodendron is a good one (the basic ones) they don't need a ton of light as they are a vining plant and they like to crawl around Varagated varieties are more difficult since they have white pink or yellow spots/sections on the leaves they are less efficient when photosyntheizing since only the green parts are able to photosynthesize meaning they need more light. water wise it's the same as other Philodendrons water when the soil is dry or use a self watering pot that has a wick to draw up water
My manjula pothos died in lower light. It's such a beautiful plant and I want to get another one but definitely does not like low light. The Golden Pothos is a beast and you can literally put that plant anywhere and it will thrive, in my opinion.
A good rule is... the darker the leaves...the less light it needs. The lighter the leaves (less chlorophyll), the more light it needs.
Ooo, thanks!

Plz put names of the plant in the discription
Yes please! The description covers up the plant names
I know!
I agree, the UI on the screen is covering up the names because she put them too low in her video.
I put my manjula on a moss pole in brighter light and the variegation is stunning and the leaves are the size of my head!
Ohhh! When you move your pole down do you want to make a sale? I can add you on face book? 😊

It's a good video for people who don't have pets, but we need a video about low-light house plants that are pet friendly!! :)

Do you sell them online too?

Part's to continue 😊 please
I very much need low light plant ideas, my home is an abode of darkness (not by my choice) and I've struggled to fill it with plants, thank yoy
