I love seeing small archery shops that can stay open during the Amazon and direct to consumer age. Some of that nostalgia is really cool man!

The companies are making it so. Mathews and Hoyt mostly. They’re pro shop only approach keeps these rashers shops open. It’s awesome. For some buyers I’m sure it drives them to other brands. But it’s ultimately a good thing.

I got into recurve at 20. Found it relaxing and helped me clear my mind. Was in the local archery shop nearly every rainy day when we couldnt work. Had a really top notch compound bow and sold it after having children figuring i didnt have time to drive to go shoot. Now owning a home in the woods with room to hunt and practice anywhere I've come back to archery. I didn't realize how much it ment to me until that first arrow flew again. Building a life gets in the way sometimes of the little thing's that make us happy. Archery is one of those things that brings me peace.

I just want to say that I was in a big atv accident this year where I had to be life flighted. My bow was destroyed in the accident and a guy I've known for about 5 years now, that used to work at a archery shop near by and now works at scheels archery department, heard about it from my dad. He decided to go up to some of the top people at this scheels and tell them about my accident and how he wanted to help me out with a new bow. They said yes and scheels gave me a 2021 bow tech amplify which retails around $600-$750 and shoots way faster and has a way smoother draw cycle and more let off than my old bow which was a bear cruzer x that I had about $360 invested into it. I am so thankful for the help from scheels. The other thing that was destroyed in my accident was my Montana black gold ascent dovetail 5 pin sliding bow sight. And I called black gold and told them what happened and they said send it in and they would replace everything on it. The dang thing has a lifetime warranty and I always thought It was only for manufacturing defects but no black gold is here to take care of you guys so if you need a sight get a black gold and if you need a bow get a bowtech. And if you don't have an archery shop that you like to support hit up scheels all these people have been amazing and I'm truly blessed and grateful to be alive and to have all these things taken care of for me

13 years ago my mom and dad bought me a bear game over, I put in for bull every year since getting it, not once was I drawn. got rifle cow draw instead of archery. This year February 16th, on my dads last day alive not knowing at the time, I told him tomorrow is the draw results, I am getting your Bull you always wanted. At 800 am I checked my bank account bam got drawn for his Bull. 1000 am he passed away. I went out two days ago and purchased my Hoyt Ventum 33 27" draw length 70 pound pull. They guy at the shop was like you haven't even asked prices, I replied this is my pops hunt I don't care what it is just get me what I need. Friday I'm going deer, and September I will be on the only hunt he ever wanted but was never once drawn in his life for. I cannot wait to knock that bull down and get him his life long dream. Him not being there to see it is one of the most hardest things I am going through. This will be the first year he isn't with me and I want to make him smile from above.

I have also hunted with the Oneida eagle and screaming eagle , very Smooth ,no pullies but actually too many moving parts, although I personally NEVER had an issue.. The last bow I hunted with was the Mathews Solo CAM , Super performance. I'm pretty certain just about any of the TOP Bows would be excellent.

Having said that, I had an Evolve 35 and set it up for the guy I sold it to, at the A setting, and HOLY COW it gets aggressive at the end! In Australia we aren't as fortunate to have pro bow shops on every corner. When I first started I went to a pro shop with 3 k in cash of slave laboured money from bricklaying in my pocket dead keen on a brand new hoyt.
Long story short i got no help and was treated like a tyre kicker. I walked out with all my money and moved a hour down the road to a small Mathew's dealership. To this day I love the service and quality Mathew's provide. I love my hunting and atm currently using a second hand Mathew's creed xs which I love and always dream of the day I can set up a new bow of yoall calabre.
Been watching how you set up your bows for years and have not seen a better and more simplified way.
Can't find anyone in Australia that takes the time and care that you guys over there do. Would love to do a trip one day and get the ultimate set up. Love your videos very inspiring keep it reel bee

Well, I’d like to say, nice program. Chris you’re a true champion of the sport. Keep doing what you love. Chris, I have a question & hopefully you can help me out. I started shooting at age 9. Had a bow built for me by two great archers of my time. They coached me at a young age. I shot in target competition only once & only shot for 10 years and got out of it. I received a write up in the newspaper for the only target competition I was able to shoot that particular year. I could put an arrow into another arrow at will on every shot at 20 yards. No joke. I would have shot a perfect 300, but my adoptive dad couldn’t stand the fact I was a better shot them him startled me on one shot. Making me jump as a I released the arrow & it was done intentionally and with malice. But, my question to you is? We don’t have many options where I live. I am 👀 looking for a great hunting bow. I’ve been out of the game for 25 years. Name two for me. In my day, Terry Ragsdale was the man. Chris, you’re almost there man. Nice show, man.

Just to be clear, I never doubted that these guys deserved to do everything they're doing in this video. I thought I was just stating an objective fact and maybe felt a little envious after spending so much time trying to build the best possible bow on a very tight budget. But I now feel like that type of comment doesn't acknowledge the amount of work and dedication that it takes to reach the level these guys are at. So yeah, I take it back. Question - how does a lefty find a bow to shoot? In the northeast, lucky to find a pros shop that has a lefty bow, much less find one in a 30 inch or +30 draw length. Most don’t carry them…
Most of the time, I end up drawing a RH bow lefty just to feel the draw cycle.
Not spending $1,200 on a “guess”.
Recognize I’m in the minority. Not limited to bows, sights too. As an example, Trophy Ridge offers several of their best sights in RH only. Tough to support them..

1/8th or 5/32" is optimum for the human eye. Larger peep hole will not let more light into the eye. It's the way it's built. And we all knew it was gonna be a Mathews. GO FIGURE. THIS guy can shoot anything anyway so it doesn't matter. Helps Chris out though.

Wants to buy a hunting bow do your home work. PSE carbon bow mark 1. I carry one all all day and never get tired don't have to hang mine on my back.3.2 to 3.5 pounds hard to beat hiking miles in,80 % to 90%let off one of the best back walls.I thought the video was kind of unfair to other brands , I hear the Elite has one of the best bows this year the Kure was super stable very accurate last year. Chris to much smack about other companys you never know when you might leave like John D always leave the door open.Heavy bows are more stable but are a pain to haul miles. But then your a whitetail hunter walk to your tree stand so a heavy bow Is ok. But western hunting Is a lot more work a heavy bow can break you...

Draw was an absolute Nightmare !. Hydrodip is not the best !(Vector from 2012 same ). But what realy fu..ed me up on the Hoyt - the Vector what i had for 10Years has problems with the Braket for the Quiver . On the Carbon Deviant i had the same to. All bow companies make great bows it all comes down to personal feel

@@robertminckler804 the Nexus 4 is such a great shooting bow. I shot it side by side with the V3 31 and liked the 4 a bit better. But yes most every company has outstanding bows this year. Even Hoyt completely changed what they were doing. It'll be interesting to see what the next 2 years bring as this year seemed like a "refinement" year for platforms.
