I drove OTR for 4 years, most of these companies treat the drivers like work horses. They’ll make these false promises & everything just to get you in the door. I drive roll off now, I work at a military base & I have a great work/life balance-something that’s practically unheard of in trucking. You should consider it, solid waste isn’t a glorified industry but the pay is decent & you’ll be close to home. Whatever you choose to do, good luck!
I came from Waste Management and I drove every equipment there home everyday and I left in October after 5 years making 29 a hour to buying my truck and hitting the road. Point is you still work for someone and you still have a manager. Now I’m my own boss.. Roll-Off but not your supervisor 😩😩
If you're an owner operator, I've been with mercer for a couple years now and am pretty happy with em. They treat you pretty well and don't fuck with you about dumb shit. Not looking for anything, just offering my 2 cents. If you have any questions lmk.
I don't think you can take this personal my guy. Majority of the things aren't being done to you. You're in a business where things change constantly. Synchronizing loads in n out can be a complex network . The driver is always the one who has to adjust, unfortunately.. As a driver that can be hard to accept sometimes. But its truly how it is 9.5/10

There's nothing more frustrating than getting more and more squeezed out of you right around the holidays. I love my company but they definitely blew up my plans a couple of times one time I couldn't be with family on Christmas because of it

Been at Dot Foods going on 6 years. I’m 30 years old with a fiancé and a 3 year. I’m home every weekend and usually get to stay at home on Wednesday night 90% of the time. They also pay great I have been blessed enough to buy a home, and my house is the only thing I owe debt on. I would highly recommend Dot for new and experienced drivers. Also anytime i need to get off for anything they make it happen now granted I don’t take off very often, but I do have three weeks of vacation, and I make sure I put in for that at the start of the year so I can be home for all the holidays. For example though I wanted to get home Tuesday night for Halloween so I could go with my little girl and they gave me a run that got me home Tuesday afternoon didn’t have to take a day off they really work with you on that kind of stuff.
