I bought one too! 275bhp 2005 Lotus Elise Turbo! It had 2100 miles on it Sept 16 2020. 6002 miles as of January 1st 2021. Fun fun fun to drive!!! Can you say, donuts? 🍩
Carlsberg don't make car videos, but if they did they would be like this one! Excellent Rupert, thoroughly brightened up my day!.......Adam would be proud too :-) Best Rob
Cool video but those tyre warmers had to make me laugh! Like the temperature of them sat in a garage for months during winter is gonna be helped by some carpet covering them 😂
yes I do know I've owned 2 elises, and. am a technician. you can warm up a k series all you want, at some stage you will more than likely succumb to hgf. the engine was famed for it. maybe all the freelander and rover drivers got excited to quickly as well.
Eloquent..........? Well mannered chap..........? Hmmmmmm not sure about that............ OK just joking! Mr Richardson is one of life's real gentleman! Great vid John far from the dizzy days of shooting black and white stills for you at Dartford Kart Circuit in the 19XX's (don't want to give away our ages!).
Primarily it's miles away from an Audi TT. The Cayman is as sharp as a knife and a brilliant car. A Lotus is different to the Porsche. A TT is - compared to those two - just a car. But I am an Elise driver also, so I might look different on cars than most people. ;-)))
got one too...we are one now...man-machine interface at its best! no tracks however...we...I....only go for hillclimbs these days...gotta post some vids in the future
Allot of the design features of the S1 were inspired by the Ferrari Dino so that comment wasn't so stupid. Look at the side air intake and the front wheel arch line.
+whitewedge side airintake is owned to downforcing or so I´ve heard...I think Mr. Singer of Porsche (917 and ongoing designs) had it explained very well in some other video...you basically only can place the intakes there or the car balance would suffer horribly
+Robbert van der Eem why rev any car? grow up ffs (not you obviously)! more than enough rev blasting past everyone else, and if you get it to red there...well...sign up for F1 I´d say^^
What an eloquent, mild-mannered chap. Thanks for sharing his story.
I agree on everything. I'm 65 y.o. and I just bought an Elise Sport Orange... the car of my dreams since its birth...
Francesco G. Congrats Sir!
I am 69 and just got a 2011 Exige S260. It has been my dream car for a very long time.

I couldn't agree with you more. The Elise was a very fun car to own.

Ha I know right, it made me hard.

+Peter Francis so, any hints on how to prevent that or realising it early?

Blown the engine up by reving it up right from cold
The Cayman GT4 is not a contender. It's a machine made 13 in a dozen nice car, like an Audi TT. Miles from Lotus.

Absolutely correct, miles away in reliability and performance.
Buy the ones with the Toyota technique , very reliable and way more horsepowerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Doesn't this have a supercharged 2zz-ge engine? the engine out of the corolla t sport compressor?
No it has a K SERIES engine which went into the Rover
@@Slothdeman unreliable as hell Toyota is very reliable big difference
@@gertjanboot5535 Nothing wrong with them if maintained properly.
The best neighbour you could have. Loves exhaust noise
I like this guy besides the way he pronounced oz, it’s o z, not oz like wizard of oz😂😂😂😂
Lovely vid.
COOL...!!!
This guy's a lad

Can anyone identify the other silver car on his drive in the background at 6 secs in?
Its starting to bug me now!!
whitewedge there's like half a second of blurry footage of the front quarter lol... I'd just let it go :P
whitewedge We're pretty confident that that's Rupert's other car... a 1.6-litre Mk.2 Ford Focus,
Ford Focus
Its a silver Golf Mk4 highline. Strangely we have one of these and an Elise S2:)
You descriptive verbage is on point!
when did the elise switch over to Toyota engine? I was under the impression that lotus switched from the crappy British engine after the series 1
Nothing wrong with the Rover.
love it!
Jesus save my soul, that is one sexy-ass car.
I like the Lotus a lot but the inside lets it down to much for me. Its below par even for a sports car because its so lack luster and uncomfortable
The GO KART! lol...I mean the road legal bigger Go-Kart.....You know what i mean! =p
Awesome
Cayman 👍🏻👍🏻
A blown head gasket is mostly the drivers fault
And it’s annoying
Tron music
Ferraris aren't that bad...
+Live-Torsion-Paradox yeah...but...they are Italian....whom you´d trust more? the gentleman or the gigolo?
@@Hunne2303 LOL!
this is all a little bit too sad
Blown head gasket mostly the drivers fault.??? you are obviously not very mechanically minded.
Rev it too much before it gets warm everyone knows that. Elise issue with people who get excited too quickly. You didn't know?

cars for old guys :))
Yes, and you have to by one as long as you can came in.
