    Got this unit a few months ago and haven’t since tuned on my LG Oled.. my friends are also impressed by the PQ, with the right content (I only watch UHD blu rays) it almost looks 3D with great depth. Pictures simply don’t do justice to laser beams. Though can’t beat the black level from any oled. The closest would be JVC or Christie

    Great review. Thank you.
    Unfortunately, it's only 60 hz for 4K. Also, I have WIFI ceiling speakers for my Dolby Atmos system. They use WISA. WISA is not included with most 4k UST projectors. Why?
    It's now September, 2024. I'm looking to upgrade. But, I tnink we're close to getting AWOL to release an 8K version. I hope so. So, I will wait. Lets hope the next versions of 8K UST do include, at least a 120 Hz refresh rate, WISA and other nice goodies.👍

Day time viewing is terrible in my basement right now, I've put blackout material on 2 of the 4 windows down there, and have blinds coming to hopefully make it better.. but definitely without a light controlled room it's pretty bad without ALR - not sure how much better it would be with.

It's really cool though how far projectors have come though. I like those little 120" pocket projectors they have npw fpr around $500 bucks amd they would be cool for a long camping trip or something. But for a multi use media center it's OLED for mehands down no debate.

    The biggest drawback of using a projector with three-color laser technology is its laser speckle, especially when you are nearsighted and have astigmatism.

    • @walkman9482
      @walkman9482 Год назад

      It's a bit challenging to express the appearance of laser speckle in words, but you can think of it like the display effect you might see on an iPad when you use a paperlike screen protector. Laser speckle creates a grainy or frosted texture on the screen, and some individuals with sensitive vision may notice it and experience eye discomfort after prolonged use.@@MbKTheGLow

    🤔 You know I didn't think about it much but there is a big advantage to not having a giant screen taking up all that visual space from a normal tv setup. The benefit of a tv is if you're using it all the time then yeah no big deal but I didn't think about that much as I am not a huge gamer and I only really need a big time tv for when I am watching Netflix or RUclips when I am eating my meals but all the other times I am not in need of a tv. Perhaps an ultra short throw projector and screen like this is better.
    Now I've got some things to think of, because I don't have a budget to get both a tv and then a projector but I am wondering how often I will actually need a tv. I really only want a big screen for when I watch movies or shows every other time I watch anything else it's on a tablet or laptop. Hmmm. Something to think about, I move next month and so I am debating whether to put a tv in the bedroom or just have one in the living room, it's just me and so I don't want to be buying really more than one tv I want my room to just be a place for me to rest and relax and sleep not have all the distractions of a screen, so I'd only be using the tv when I have my meals and maybe, very very rarely will I play a game and if I do it's on the Switch.
    I like the idea of an UST but I'll be honest I love the resolution and colors of an OLED, I am 100% spoiled by a nicer resolution but the picture looks good. You can plug a soundbar into this right and you mentioned they're in Florida? I got to check it out :D maybe they do military discount as well lol

    if anyone is thinking of changing their TV to a projector.. DON'T! this technology is for garbage. After 4 years I give up!... Fengmi Formovie 4K MAX only 4400 euros... Just one year later, the chip has over 13 white pixels. The problem of overheating due to a cheap thermal pad on this cheap projector.. 283 euro DMD chip from the TI manufacturer, modification for better cooling with temperatures below 50°C. The replaced chip starts to defect with white pixels after only half a year. The TI manufacturer denies warranty, conveniently limiting the warranty on the problematic chips. Or in other words by the time you get 10 white pixels the warranty has expired. If this is not a scam, I don't know what is... So, you only have 560 euros per year of use, as a replacement for the TV. Now I'm going to replace the chip and I'm done with these junk projectors. right now a 98 inch tv is on sale for 5000 euros vs 4500+ for a quality projector and screen!!!

    The one thing I see in every review of a UST is the elephant in the room, sound. Good luck using a sound bar, not happening. So that means either a top mounted center or one mounted low if front of projector, in addition to the rest of the front channels. Same deal if there's a fixed ALR or rarely, a ceiling mount powered ALR. Or using the projector speakers and say bye bye to surround. So 6k or so for this and crap sound, no thanks

    You probably would want to put a piece of wood underneath the projector. If it has a fan in it is likely to pick up the dust from the floor.

    25k hrs of life is about 1000 days/just under 3yrs of life if on 24/7
    assuming 10hrs/day of use = over 7yrs b4 obsolescence
    considering it costs 6k, why buy it

      There's no way they can know the life until it has been experienced by testing or at home usage, and I think they give you that number of hours simply because it should last almost indefinitely; no one can knowledgeably argue that it would need to be replaced at 10m hours, in my opinion.
