Love your videos, not sure that nit calculation checks out. Nits (cd/m^2) are screen size dependent while lumens are not, so you could say "3500 lumens is X nits when projecting a 100" diagonal screen", but there's no direct conversion. I googled it and see where you got the 3.426 lumens per nit conversion which seems to be plastered all over the internet, but in practice that makes no sense.
On a 100" screen the AWOL puts out more like 330 nits.

I have the Awol 2500. Wish I had 3500 pro money. The 2500 was the only one. I could afford. 😢 But it ok. I love it.

I have the 2500 for a year & I love it. My only issue is I had a dead pixel. Thankfully AWOL replaced my unit. Also, I don’t like that if I choose to play a game & turn on Turbo mode, it changes my size settings. I hope a software patch fixes this. Overall it’s great for the price!

Thanks for the review. I guess mounting it on the ceiling would not be possible with certain ALR screens including this one.

You could use a wall mount ALR screen and turn it upside down.

TV manufacturers should take notes, a user selectable/swappable streaming device is much preferred over a baked in OS that already feels sluggish out of the box.

I always wanted a projector for those giant screens that are bigger than my living room. But somehow the price always seems to be a stopping factor (along with reliability). When screen alone is approaching the price of comparable in size TV, something is really wrong here. Glad at least to see projectors that can find its place in a reasonably bright room and are not relegated to basement level entertainment rooms. You did not talk much about black levels or contrast, which I assume are still lagging behind any comparable TV. And absence of HDMI 2.1 ports on such an expensive projector is frankly mystifying as it pretty much excludes gaming.

What are you doing with your lg hu810, any interest in selling and can you do a review of it now that you used it some. I’m thinking about getting one but it has terrible reviews? Thanks

cool video. what kind model tv was that 75"? have had an UST projector setup, and I can tell u its not even close to as good as a tv is. I had a Samsung and it produced 2,800 lumens. the picture dose look good, but its not bright. its also almost impossible to align the screen properly. u much better off getter a 98" tv TCL for $2k. you will get a much more engaging picture. the nits on a 120" alr .6 gain screen are around 95 nits. now to be fair, your eyes do adjust to the light. But id still 100% recommend a tv.

AWOL LTV 3500 has 3500 peak Lumens. It replaced my OLED that is now in my bedroom. This is the real deal for replacing those boring flat panels that have been out for 30 years. Turns your family room into an immersive, cinematic wonderland. If you can afford it, one room should have an AWOL LTV 3500 and keep the OLEDs in the bedroom or basement to watch the news.

When people say they've moved on from 3D, the ones in charge decided everyone else should to. The powers that be really suck. The only reason I'm getting this projector is for the 3D. Every movie that could have 3D should have the option of people having a choice to buy one. But some ying yang decided that they would take their toy and go home and screw the rest. Truly sucks.

    • @neverenoughtech

I get what you’re saying but if consumers (wrt large) were enamored with 3D there would be more options and or outcry. I find it hard to believe the decision was merely top down. But go get it dude if 3D is doing it for you.

@@neverenoughtech It's all about choices, people should always have the chance to use all available tech. Oled 3D was passive and it was insane good. I had the Lg Ec 9300 I got it in 2015, they are also trying to get rid of Blu Ray, it's all insane. There's hardly been a movie worth watching since 2020. I wonder what that's all about?
