@lotterydiscounts4326 they should. .45 acp is probably the best close quarters subsonic round. If neither are reliably getting through IIIA armor then might as well choose the bigger heavier bullet that will punch a bigger hole through its target.

The VSO Gun Channel I left a message on the recent NSR eco holster video, but I seen you here and thought you might want to know. It was only a five dollar difference on my order, so not a big deal. Take care.
I understand the concept........... but I’m not understanding the Kevlar at incoming. I wouldn’t think Meth dealers or any other anti-cop shooter would be shooting sub-sonic ammo.Am I missing something?
This was an excellent practical study on a subject called 'sectional density' also widely known just as the 'SD'.. One of the reasons why .264-caliber projectiles are so leathal even with big game.. They don't slow down as much slipping thrue the thick hide before they reach the vitals.
Excellent example of how Cross-Sectional Density effects terminal ballistics for penetration. Although I’d like to see the same test with IIIA armor. Not many people use Level II anymore.
That deformation in the clay is why my dad always pushes me to wear the trauma plate. Because I’m under 18 the local 3 gun organization requires that I wear a vest or plate carrier w/plate. After a whole day of running and shooting with that body armor I have a new found respect for veterans and law enforcement.
The backface deformation with the 45 looked to be at least the 2 inches mentioned at the beginning of the video as possibly lethal. So, while the results appear to be very different, the consequences for any human wearing this soft armor would essentially be the same...game over.
Only potentially lethal, and only likely when hit below the ribs though. There's a lot more potential to survive a shot in the chest since the ribs will prevent deformation.
In ancient armor, quilted fabric "padding" was armor too. The tarry coarse linen or wool layers of a gambeson is the ancient kevlar vest, it could outright stop longbow arrows. But it's not the same thing for modern trauma pads. They don't add to the resistance of the armor like a gambeson did. Just wear light kevlar under the ballistic plate and you'll be fine.
Do the 3A test. I don’t know anyone that gets lower grade than 3A. I’m sure they are out there but this video just left me with more questions than anything.
Tim...As a VERY early adopter of 300blk, this video just adds more validation to my original purchase of my AAC 9” 300blk pistol for home defense, car gun and general “go to war” purposes. There’s nothing more versatile available, as you know it is capable of firing 90gr supers up to 230gr subs. PLEASE CHECK OUT TROM BULLETS. THEY’VE DEVELOPED NEW SUPERSONIC 300BLK ROUNDS THAT ARE ACCURATE OUT TO 900 YARDS.
Just starting the vid but no way that sub goes through body armor because its the same energy as a 45. The only possible difference would be because of the length of the bullet, I look forward to being surprised that the bullet length makes it def the armor.
Less surface area means that the energy will transfer much differently. The .45 is wide and made to transfer the energy. Whereas the .300 is narrow and arrow like. I'm guessing this is what makes little cartridges like the 5.7 able to defeat body armor. I'm guessing the .300 will puncture the armor as long as it doesn't tumble or expand.
Sectional density is the term you guys are looking for. A 200 grain .30 cal will have greater penetration than a 200 grain .45 cal at the same velocity. It concentrates the energy in a smaller area increasing penetration.
Tim, I just watched you on IraqVeteren8888's video on the NRA meeting. I realized I haven't been seeing your videos. I was still subscribed but the bell wasn't marked. I had to resubscribe and then it would click the bell. Maybe I'll start seeing your videos again. You guys woke me up on how the present NRA isn't protecting our 2nd Amendment. I hope we can get them back in line.
Military Arms Channel i think many of us would enjoy it. I spend a lot of nights riding in my patrol car and listen to a lot of vlogs/podcasts like hank strange’s.
Interesting video. I’ve always been a bit against .300 BO as it has basically the same energy w/ subsonic ammo as .45 acp but costs much more. The design of the rifle bullet can give it an advantage over the pistol caliber, with the right ammo, and your test shows that. I stand corrected (partially). Is that advantage worth the extra cost of ammo for regular people who aren’t raiding meth labs? I guess that’s for the individual to decide. The chances of an intruder wearing body armor is fairly low, but it is possible. I suppose the phrase “I’d rather have it and not need it” can be applied here. Thanks for the vid!
Also, try shooting a 45ACP 100yds. .300blk while containing no more energy than a .45ACP has much better ballistics. Which means it carries that energy further/longer.
f5tornadeau for me the advantages are twofold . First 300 blackout has a widely versatile range of power . It is very smooth shooting in each of those . Second as a caster and a reloader operating pressures make it ideal for lead bullets . This means I can load it significantly cheaper than 223 and therefore shoot a lot more
Frijoli fair enough. My main home defense weapon is my Scorpion (which I’ll use for the comparison as I have neither a .45 pcc or anything in .300 BO). Anything I’ll use that for will be well under 100 yds. If I need to go outside, I’ll just grab my 5.56. That being said, I could see some benefits for a close quarters platform that can reach out a bit further.
GunFun ZS valid points. I don’t reload or cast my own bullets (my wife says I don’t need any more hobbies), so for me it is much more cost effective to grab 5.56 and pistol ammo in bulk.
The DEA CLET unit uses a purpose built Colt 9mm SMG integrally suppressed AR variant designed to be fired in the typical ether atmosphere normally found in meth labs which is available to LE off the shelf. Departments can get info from COLT or their DEA contacts on that weapon. Any weapon not designed for that atmosphere can cause detonations of ether when flammable limits are met in a meth lab.
This gun was first produced on contract specifically for the DEA in the 1990's for use in meth labs by CLET. It was in the RO series just cant remember the number. It had a integral suppressor specifically designed not to detonate ether. It came out before the non-suppressed short barreled (less than 10") DEA SMG. From what I can remember Class 3 Dealer Neal Smith had a few Post Samples which were used for dept DEMOS in the 90's.
Hey Tim awesome video. Do you think you could do a video on 300blk vs dry wall. I'm curious if it will or will not penetrate dry wall for home defense [purposes.
300bo is nice, it's all I run in AR platform but no suppressor, it's pretty quiet by it's own design. I'd run suppressor for max utilization if no tax stamp n waiting period. That 300bo MAC used is 1 very sweet rig, just really expensive to practice at almost a buck a round or more for "special purpose" ammo
I flat guarantee you that who ever was wearing the "soft level II" body armor hit by the .45 ACP bullet would have been knocked down and very likely rolling around on the ground or unconscious. Any force redistribution from the body armor to the wearer's body itself, especially in the chest, of one inch or more would either fracture a rib or send a shockwave effect into the chest cavity causing serious damage and significant pain...probably put the Lung Lobe down. This guy is almost instantly spitting up blood as he lies on the ground. The shock penetration demonstrated would be like getting kicked in the chest by a horse...yeah, he ain't dead...he just wishes he was.
I really liked this video until the last few seconds when you revealed it was only level II body armor... literally nobody uses level II armor. The only soft armor you'll find in the field is IIIA. Seems pretty misleading.
How many of these SWAT guys you are getting chummy with will raid your house when the Governor tells them to go around collecting guns? Perhaps none. Maybe these kind of interactions will have them question such orders. I don't know.
B. Eder Youre misinformed. Level III only comes in hard armor. You may be thinking of level IIIa, but reality is many departments still issue level II soft armor.
Curious why LOE's need suppressors. They aren't Seal Team Six after all. We peasants have to pay excessive brib...er...taxes and beseech the Crown for such luxuries.
Jim Hastings I think it's a stupid waste of taxpayer resources too... But the fantasy reason they will tell you is that they want to contain the muzzle flash to not ignite chemical vapors when they are raiding meth labs

but I’m not understanding the Kevlar at incoming.
I wouldn’t think Meth dealers or any other anti-cop shooter would be shooting sub-sonic ammo.Am I missing something?
Just set up an account on Full30. Thanks for the perseverance, guys!
AR15s, now available in anti-methlab configurations! What a timeline.
I just got back from the range, and not only did I have fun BUT there is a new MAC video. *Fuck this day is awesome!*
Did you do testing with 10mm for the swat team?
Whoa there bud. The SWAT team didn't want to blow up the meth lab, 10mm alone would level a city block.
Did you hear that kim Jung un has abandoned his nuclear test? It's because someone showed him a glock g40
It's been a known secret that B2 spirits now carry loaded glock 40's in their bomb bay.
David M don't want to wake the neighbors
Heard that the Air Force is replacing the A-10 with g40.
Awesome channel man. You always have great and informative videos
Thank you for what you do MAC! Your content adds as an invaluable education tool for our community. We can't thank you enough!
As always, great video and thanks for all you do.
This was an excellent practical study on a subject called 'sectional density' also widely known just as the 'SD'.. One of the reasons why .264-caliber projectiles are so leathal even with big game.. They don't slow down as much slipping thrue the thick hide before they reach the vitals.
This is probably the most useful info I’ve gotten on youtube
What is Grizzly Bears are the ones making the Meth though? We live in strange times. Should have probably tested 458 SOCOM.
Excellent example of how Cross-Sectional Density effects terminal ballistics for penetration. Although I’d like to see the same test with IIIA armor. Not many people use Level II anymore.
Save a Tim donate tables! 😂
That Backface deformation with the .45 acp is why everyone should wear trauma pad/plates.
@@MsHojat A non-penetrating shot to the chest without a trauma plate has a significant chance of lethal injury to the heart.
This shows bullet shape and bullet type mean a lot. .300 Blk has it's purposes, and would be a great round for law enforcement use.
Absolutely
AvocadoAtrocity with 5,7 it‘s a mix of higher velocity and a higher sectional density
speed
45ACP travels at about 830-950fps depending on the platform, while subsonic 300 blackout goes 1060fps
zMeul Correct. Would have been interesting to see a subsonic 200 grain .45 which would be about the same velocity as the .300 blackout.
.....and full support to you and others!!!!
Somebody please make a full 30 app
Tim, I just watched you on IraqVeteren8888's video on the NRA meeting. I realized I haven't been seeing your videos. I was still subscribed but the bell wasn't marked. I had to resubscribe and then it would click the bell. Maybe I'll start seeing your videos again. You guys woke me up on how the present NRA isn't protecting our 2nd Amendment. I hope we can get them back in line.
Safe-Semi-Full Semi. Lmao i need one of those shirts
What this shows is that maxing out the weight of pointy bullets going subsonic can be quite effective
MAC, you need to start a VLOG channel!
Do you think it would be popular enough to do?
Military Arms Channel i think many of us would enjoy it. I spend a lot of nights riding in my patrol car and listen to a lot of vlogs/podcasts like hank strange’s.
Military Arms Channel might
Not sure how you're demonitized.
YT made me sit through a bunch of commercials to see this video.
Thanks for justifying my build! Lol
im not a conservitive but your channel is super educating to me thank you
So it seemed like the .45 still had enough force to be lethal, even if it didn't penetrate.
incorrect
Thanks MAC! This was awesome to see.
at least you were consistent, missing the mark by 1" 🎯
Let's see that 3A vest video and maybe some 16" barrel.300
Thanks for the vid!
f5tornadeau As it gets more popular, demand will lower costs.
Great video and test!
That shirt though
It's dumb
What state do you live in? I'm considering moving to a 2nd amendment friendly state. I CANNOT live in commiefornia any longer.
He lives near Valparaiso Indiana
I believe he is in Indiana.
Arizona is nice
Arizona is 2A friendly and cost of living is way better. Plus we have the most lenient gun laws.
HABOOB480 Productions and close to the border with Mexico cheap medicine and wamen.
would like to see you test 6.8 SPC and 6.5 Grendel vs the body armour.
Who still wears level 2 body armor?
Gangs and communists
Great video guy's. Not what I was expecting. Thanks now I know what my set up can do.
I love both 45 acp and 300blk 👍😉
Hey Tim awesome video. Do you think you could do a video on 300blk vs dry wall. I'm curious if it will or will not penetrate dry wall for home defense [purposes.
Level 2 u know the most common is level 3a now right
300bo is nice, it's all I run in AR platform but no suppressor, it's pretty quiet by it's own design. I'd run suppressor for max utilization if no tax stamp n waiting period. That 300bo MAC used is 1 very sweet rig, just really expensive to practice at almost a buck a round or more for "special purpose" ammo
#tableslivesmatter
truth
travisp11
It’s been removed
travisp11 good job making it political like every other video that has nothing to do with politics
travisp11 🤔🖓🏿
Good test, great info, and the table is safe. I call that a win…. Thanks M.A.C.
Imgaine your parents walking in on you while this part 9:10 is playing..oawh ma gawdd the horror ..
I would love to see either a TP9 DA reliability test or the gun cleaners/lubricant that you use for the next video.
Seems like it also knock the shooter back and down also
Full30 needs an app!! That would be too cool!
I really liked this video until the last few seconds when you revealed it was only level II body armor... literally nobody uses level II armor. The only soft armor you'll find in the field is IIIA. Seems pretty misleading.
He said it was level 2 at the beginning
Really enjoyed the video, looking forward to seeing some 3a results sometime.
How many of these SWAT guys you are getting chummy with will raid your house when the Governor tells them to go around collecting guns? Perhaps none. Maybe these kind of interactions will have them question such orders. I don't know.
Oh dear god
The ones that want their pensions.
Great review but was wondering if you are you planning on doing more gauntlet testing again. I enjoy those as well. Thanks.
Who cares about level II ???
Level III is the standard now.
Some departments still issue the level II.
B. Eder Youre misinformed. Level III only comes in hard armor. You may be thinking of level IIIa, but reality is many departments still issue level II soft armor.
Definitely looking fwd to Level IIIA test.
Fire an AR indoors... you'll see why. It's a good way to make a quiet rifle in the same size package as a typical 14.5" carbine.
Thanks MAC!
Great vid, but could have been much shorter.
Spencer King cause 16 minutes is so long...
Chris Craig yes it is when the core information makes up 5 mins at most if he hadn't of repeated himself so much
+Spencer King Lol I know right? Beginning to be like Nutn.
SmokyMountainOutdoorsman that's pretty harsh lol
He's not gotten that bad yet, but I agree that the vids need to be shorter.
Great content as always
I like the police but when they desecrate the flag with their blue line I don't like that.
RANDOM STRANGER Did the subdued flag bother you? Do camo pattern flags bother you?
RANDOM STRANGER It's funny how the same people that cry about someone kneeling for the anthem fully support flying a bastardized flag. I tend to believe it's supposedly a free country, color the flag however you like and do whatever you want during the anthem but so many people are hypocrites in this matter.
Leave ol glory alooooone!
RANDOM STRANGER that's because they think the rules don't apply to them.
There's a version for firefighters too. Relax
