Thanks to Mr. GnG I just parted with more cash to buy a 8" AAC BLK upper. For two days I traveled the Internet highway looking for a vendor who offered 1/7 twists in 8" and shorter 300 BLK uppers. Finally found a vendor offering 8" 300 BLK, 1/7 twist uppers. Can not imagine finding an upper only in 1/6 twist let alone 1/5. Seems a shooter has to buy a longer barrel to get a faster twist. Would have preferred a 1/6 twist, but glad I could find the 8" BLK with the 1/7 twist.

If the “rifling must give one full rotation of turn to stabilize a bullet” thing were true, then no handgun ever would stabilize a bullet. Complete nonsense
If I had to guess this was a hold over to the days (Nam) when they were trying to get the M16 offshoots ( Colt commando) to perform well and you would have a difficult time having the 556 stabilize out of a small barrel
@@nickc7320 it wasn't the short barrel that was causing the issue, but the rate of twist vs the weight and length of the bullet. If you want a real mind blown concept, look into progressive rifling like they use in 155mm artillery and howitzers to stabilize those projectiles.
Look at how little rotation a football makes as it is in the hand of the quarterback. Yet it is still stabilized as it flies through the air because of the spin imparted as it left his fingers while being accelerated forward and rotationally.
Hey Tim, check out Modlite. They're making an upgraded Scout DF, with 18650 & a smaller body with a single 18350. The 18350 with their PLH head and your choice of Scout light mount would give you the brightest and smallest weapon light.
I carry a similar set up BCM 9" barrel SBR with a Dead Air Sandman S and a 15 inch rail over can set up, I like that you both chose a fold away option i haven't really thought about that, and the pistol would be better if i traveled out of state, I don't, I like that the setup can be used for everything from self defense to spontaneous hog hunting. The 300BLK turned out to be a much more versatile round than i thought.
Great to see you 😊 guys together, two of my favorite u tuber's having a good time with two really interesting firearms: like to see some more on the 300blackout don't know to much about it ballistically speaking.
“At 250 yards the question is, how much energy does it have?” “Probably not much.” “Yeah, probably not much.” I’d still bet you wouldn’t get many volunteers to stand out there and test that. My old, store bought 16” upper really liked 150 gr ammo. Very accurate. Not so munfor the lighter bullets. When I built a companion 10.5” upper, it also liked the 150’s and my hand loaded 208 gr subsonics. With my small sample I just assumed the 150’s were best...in FMJ configuration. Seeing the more recent gel tests has shown me that both the 110 and 120 gr Barnes TSX bullets perform best in supersonic loads but I have not had a chance to verify accuracy yet. I think I may still go with them even if accuracy suffers a little as the 10.5” barrel will be a close range home defense pistol.
Thank you gentlemen. Your expertise is greatly appreciated. I was on the fence concerning this subject. I've been researching several caliber options for my first AR and was on the fence. I've heard a lot of negativity about the 300 blkout (mostly from haters that dont even own a rifle/pistol in said caliber) however after this video I am no longer on the fence. I'm convinced. I found subsonics at Walmart that were almost exactly the same cost as my 30-30 ammo.(im talkin pennies difference) I sincerely hope they continue to sell this caliber after they initiate their planned ban on certain calibers of ammunition. If I remember correctly they said they will continue to sell "hunting" rounds. I consider one of the most effective uses for this versatile caliber would be that of ethical hunting. Question for yall: why is there such an abundance of uneducated hatred for this caliber? I thought ignorance was bliss?🤣 Thx again yall!
When the 10.3 inch barrel fired at 17:45-18:00 ish, I thought I was seeing misses to the left and slightly low, but it was the projectile creating a tunnel through the ambient air. That was really cool to see. I will definitely subscribe to both of your channels based off of that eye-opening bit of footage. Just recently purchased my own .300 BLK actually, which is why I came across this video to begin with. Diamondback .300 AAC. Nice rifle but havent fired it yet. Waiting on a shippment of a few different types of ammo to take her on the maiden voyage. Can I email some pictures, or a short video to you?
Love my Rattler, shoots a really long time without much cleaning. I wouldn't go with a DI 300 if you shoot with a can for the majority. Rattler is really accurate!!
I use that same fiocchi 125 grn ballistic tip ammo in my Diamondback db15 300 blackout and my PSA maurauder 7.5 inch pistol. Both are very accurate with that round and it works great on deer.
The fact that our masters in gov don’t want you to have NFA items and make you ask for kings blessing in the form of a tax stamp and associated fees sells me on the fact that I need this in my life.
You to are great together. Got custom built ar15 in 300blk with 16inch heavy barrel. Great carbine rifle. With super never fired subs out of it yet. Is it dead yes to some people since Winchester brought out their 350 ledgen. Ammo in some store are hard find options lot of ammo is fmj or hp subs.
Ha.. MrGunsnGear geeks out on ARs but clearly Tim geeks out on sound science.. Great video.... Wait did Tim just say you can be surprised what I can do with a 3" Barrel.. LOL
I've been trying to research the beat overall barrel length for 300 blkout. I know there a ton of variables in this. But,if you could have one rifle and it was in 300blkout,and it was tour hone defense and battle rifle, what barrel length would you choose?
@@FreedomInc I prefer my 8.5" honestly. The 300 blk is not a really long distance round so no need for long barrels. It's made to run in a pistol configuration with a silencer. I only run subsonic ammo thru mine so make sure you get a twist rate that will balance the 220 grain rounds well. A 10" barrel is great as well but I do get 100% powder burn even with the 8.5
Freedom Inc. 9” I think is optimal. I’ve got mine in 10.5” and honestly wish I would have gone a little shorter. Picking up my .300 blk against my other rifles my favorite part is an effective round in a really compact package, so there’s no reason not to make it as compact as possible. Anything other than that I’d just go 5.56
I have never had any issues with the grip safety on my xd. I have owned 5" tactical and 4" service models. Shot thousands of rounds. Why dont people like it?

If I had to guess this was a hold over to the days (Nam) when they were trying to get the M16 offshoots ( Colt commando) to perform well and you would have a difficult time having the 556 stabilize out of a small barrel
@@nickc7320 it wasn't the short barrel that was causing the issue, but the rate of twist vs the weight and length of the bullet. If you want a real mind blown concept, look into progressive rifling like they use in 155mm artillery and howitzers to stabilize those projectiles.
Twist rate dude
Look at how little rotation a football makes as it is in the hand of the quarterback. Yet it is still stabilized as it flies through the air because of the spin imparted as it left his fingers while being accelerated forward and rotationally.
Hey Tim, check out Modlite. They're making an upgraded Scout DF, with 18650 & a smaller body with a single 18350. The 18350 with their PLH head and your choice of Scout light mount would give you the brightest and smallest weapon light.
i was shocked to find youtube unsub me, after being here from the beginning ...heads up Mac
Subbed! cool collaboration I ordered a Ghetto blaster 300 BLK. maybe 2 months before it gets in. cant wait!.
I'm new to.the 300 black out AR pistol. I actually built my own. I like it a lot..not ready to spend 2k on a AR pistol.
Especially considering that there isn't a measurable improvement in performance over your home build.
Hey Tim, you should do test the controlled chaos 300 blackout rounds! And the high velocity ones made by Lehigh defense
It’s a good video to teach people that barrel length does not equate to accuracy but velocity.
The 12 year old boy in me laughed when MAC said “I’m going to burn my bag with my suppressor.”
Great to see you 😊 guys together, two of my favorite u tuber's having a good time with two really interesting firearms: like to see some more on the 300blackout don't know to much about it ballistically speaking.
“At 250 yards the question is, how much energy does it have?”
“Probably not much.”
“Yeah, probably not much.”
I’d still bet you wouldn’t get many volunteers to stand out there and test that.
Great collaboration videos guys!
16:00 At 250 yards you can see the rounds flying through the air on both guns.
I just commented the same. That’s some amazing footage.
Surprised your not rocking a B&T APC300?
FNH CAT that gun’s like a million bucks. I wouldn’t take it out either! lol
How are you liking it in comparison to your 30-30?
Watching that vapor trail at the 250 was insanely fun to watch!!🤘🇺🇲💪
Thanks for everything y'all do.
Love my Rattler, shoots a really long time without much cleaning. I wouldn't go with a DI 300 if you shoot with a can for the majority. Rattler is really accurate!!
Well tons do just that so it’s all in what ure own opinion and budget is
Great deal. Just right size for us. Wish we had bought one sooner.
18:05 vapor trails......so nice
I use that same fiocchi 125 grn ballistic tip ammo in my Diamondback db15 300 blackout and my PSA maurauder 7.5 inch pistol. Both are very accurate with that round and it works great on deer.
Hey, Tim, I would love to see you review the Beretta 92X GR Fullsize.
The fact that our masters in gov don’t want you to have NFA items and make you ask for kings blessing in the form of a tax stamp and associated fees sells me on the fact that I need this in my life.
When the king demands tribute, kick him in the balls instead! 😁
Very informative video. You guys make a great team!👍👍
I love 300 blackout. Definitely one of my favorite guns. 9 inch BCM with a hybrid can. Stupid quiet with subs and very nice even with supersonic ammo.
I love Daniel Defense! 😀 That is one BEAUTIFUL AR! 😍
Ha.. MrGunsnGear geeks out on ARs but clearly Tim geeks out on sound science.. Great video.... Wait did Tim just say you can be surprised what I can do with a 3" Barrel.. LOL
Love my 300 blk outs. Very fun caliber. Mac and Mr guns colab?! Gonna be a good day 🍻✊🔫🇺🇸
I've been trying to research the beat overall barrel length for 300 blkout.
A 10" barrel is great as well but I do get 100% powder burn even with the 8.5
@@freedomgunsandliberty thanks for the info
Freedom Inc. 9” I think is optimal. I’ve got mine in 10.5” and honestly wish I would have gone a little shorter. Picking up my .300 blk against my other rifles my favorite part is an effective round in a really compact package, so there’s no reason not to make it as compact as possible. Anything other than that I’d just go 5.56
@@mattm8314 I have a 9 inch barrel for my MCX, which is compact with the folding stock. SIG also makes a 6.5 incher.
I have never had any issues with the grip safety on my xd. I have owned 5" tactical and 4" service models. Shot thousands of rounds. Why dont people like it?
BRAND NAME FUDDS THATS WHY
I bought a PSA 300blk AR pistol for a truck gun suppressed. Cool to see I'm not the only one.
that 205 yards with that short gun was very good shooting with a red dot
Mike has taught me more about ARs than just about all other firearms content combined... he’s also been the largest contributor to my bank account shrinking... constantly 🤙
It doesn't help that everybody is cramming every caliber known to man into the AR platform! 🤣
MAC, can you do a review on the Holosun 510c? Seems like a good EOTech competitor. Thanks
