I know some will question the Rattlers barrel length vs. rifling twist of 1:5". Here's a picture illustrating the 2" round laying about where the chamber is. This will show you that you have about 3.5" of actual rifled barrel the bullet engages with. Most barrels are measured including the chamber, which can be a bit misleading. live.staticflickr.com/65535/48702592998_44cd7b4809_k.jpg

Thanks to Mr. GnG I just parted with more cash to buy a 8" AAC BLK upper. For two days I traveled the Internet highway looking for a vendor who offered 1/7 twists in 8" and shorter 300 BLK uppers. Finally found a vendor offering 8" 300 BLK, 1/7 twist uppers. Can not imagine finding an upper only in 1/6 twist let alone 1/5. Seems a shooter has to buy a longer barrel to get a faster twist.
Would have preferred a 1/6 twist, but glad I could find the 8" BLK with the 1/7 twist.

So with the new ATF proposed rule changes this would be a SBR, 6-12 months in NFA JAIL, pay $200 tax stamp, registration of you & this firearm and all the interstate regulations that go with it.
These are rules not laws, don’t let an executive branch of government that is supposed to enforce current law be allowed to arbitrarily change definitions and create confusing, subjective and complicated rules leading to ambiguity, these rules are an attempt to circumvent legislation and through executive action effectively ban all braced pistols. This is a clear overstep of ATF authority and purview.
SCOTUS has previously stated that laws must be clear and simple.
“Clear" means easy to understand or intelligible. It also means unequivocal or unambiguous. For a document to be described as clear, it must not only be easy for its audience to understand but also convey the same message to those who read it.
The ATF rule change is intentionally extremely subjective in wording and provides a back door to ultimately determine a braced pistol to be a NFA item upon their final opinion and position despite otherwise passing their arbitrary scoring system.
Ultimately, the Constitution is clear, under the 2A: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. It does not say government has the ability to determine what is an acceptable form of arms for the people to bear. It says shall not be infringed. The people have a right to own, carry, transport, manufacture, or modify arms as necessary to maintain a well regulated body capable of defense of self or nation, period.
Please, contact your local, state, and federal representatives and congressman. Let them know we the people will not relinquish our freedoms and rights, given by God and enumerated in our Constitution. We will not allow subjugation of the People and tyranny by our governments an opportunity to take root. Then go to the ATF website and make a stand and let our voices be heard, provide a comment on this rule change as well as the other proposed regulations that infringe upon our Constitutional rights.
If we don’t let our voices be heard then we allow our rights to be taken!

It is probably my favorite shooting drill since it doesn't use that many shots to take down a target and it is rather cleaver too. It's so satisfying to watch and do. Sadly, where I am, I can only do that with airsoft guns. I carry a similar set up BCM 9" barrel SBR with a Dead Air Sandman S and a 15 inch rail over can set up, I like that you both chose a fold away option i haven't really thought about that, and the pistol would be better if i traveled out of state, I don't, I like that the setup can be used for everything from self defense to spontaneous hog hunting. The 300BLK turned out to be a much more versatile round than i thought.

It’s a good video to teach people that barrel length does not equate to accuracy but velocity.

“At 250 yards the question is, how much energy does it have?”
    “Probably not much.”
    “Yeah, probably not much.”
I’d still bet you wouldn’t get many volunteers to stand out there and test that.
My old, store bought 16” upper really liked 150 gr ammo. Very accurate. Not so munfor the lighter bullets. When I built a companion 10.5” upper, it also liked the 150’s and my hand loaded 208 gr subsonics. With my small sample I just assumed the 150’s were best...in FMJ configuration. Seeing the more recent gel tests has shown me that both the 110 and 120 gr Barnes TSX bullets perform best in supersonic loads but I have not had a chance to verify accuracy yet. I think I may still go with them even if accuracy suffers a little as the 10.5” barrel will be a close range home defense pistol.

Thank you gentlemen. Your expertise is greatly appreciated. I was on the fence concerning this subject. I've been researching several caliber options for my first AR and was on the fence. I've heard a lot of negativity about the 300 blkout (mostly from haters that dont even own a rifle/pistol in said caliber) however after this video I am no longer on the fence. I'm convinced. I found subsonics at Walmart that were almost exactly the same cost as my 30-30 ammo.(im talkin pennies difference) I sincerely hope they continue to sell this caliber after they initiate their planned ban on certain calibers of ammunition. If I remember correctly they said they will continue to sell "hunting" rounds. I consider one of the most effective uses for this versatile caliber would be that of ethical hunting. Question for yall: why is there such an abundance of uneducated hatred for this caliber? I thought ignorance was bliss?🤣 Thx again yall!

When the 10.3 inch barrel fired at 17:45-18:00 ish, I thought I was seeing misses to the left and slightly low, but it was the projectile creating a tunnel through the ambient air. That was really cool to see. I will definitely subscribe to both of your channels based off of that eye-opening bit of footage. Just recently purchased my own .300 BLK actually, which is why I came across this video to begin with. Diamondback .300 AAC. Nice rifle but havent fired it yet. Waiting on a shippment of a few different types of ammo to take her on the maiden voyage. Can I email some pictures, or a short video to you?

I've been trying to research the beat overall barrel length for 300 blkout. I know there a ton of variables in this. But,if you could have one rifle and it was in 300blkout,and it was tour hone defense and battle rifle, what barrel length would you choose?

    • @freedomgunsandliberty
      @freedomgunsandliberty 5 лет назад +4

@@FreedomInc I prefer my 8.5" honestly. The 300 blk is not a really long distance round so no need for long barrels. It's made to run in a pistol configuration with a silencer. I only run subsonic ammo thru mine so make sure you get a twist rate that will balance the 220 grain rounds well. A 10" barrel is great as well but I do get 100% powder burn even with the 8.5

Freedom Inc. 9” I think is optimal. I’ve got mine in 10.5” and honestly wish I would have gone a little shorter. Picking up my .300 blk against my other rifles my favorite part is an effective round in a really compact package, so there’s no reason not to make it as compact as possible. Anything other than that I’d just go 5.56
