  • ( www.TFLcar.com ) The 2016 Volvo XC90 is all new and very much improved. In this TFLcar First Drive Review Emme takes the newest 2016 Volvo XC90 for a spin and comes away mostly impressed by Thor's Super-Turbocharged hammer.

    I'm sure this Volvo will be a huge hit. It looks so good, the interior is stunning, and it is bound to be timeless like most Volvos are. If this is the new direction Volvo is going with their cars then I absolutely approve.

    Volvo navigation is actually easy to use. If it's like on my Volvo S60, you can say "Navigation go to address". Then it will query for the City, Streetname, house number. The trick is to look on the screen (assuming it does show it like the S60) to see what words you can say at the beginning.

    Finally Emme is back doing a review. Guess she was too busy crossing the country in her Mazdaspeed.. :-)
    I'm not sure a little 2lt engine would be able to handle all the extra weight a 7 passenger SUV will have to handle. It being supercharged and turbocharged is an interesting concept. I think vehicles of this size shouldn't come with anything smaller than a V6 engine.
    That being said, I'm happy to see Volvo is adapting a similar approach to ergonomics the way Tesla has. Yes, the screen isn't as big, but the concept is just the same.
    I can't wait to see Emme do a review of the upcoming Model X!

    Nice high energy review on this beautiful, sleek SUV that will dominate the market as more people are familiar with what it provides those who purchase it. Everyone who has negative comments perhaps you should present your own version in a video format and see just how professional your clip is and whether you can achieve the same view count as she's done with this video. Good work Emmy on the video and I'm glad to see you adding some humour into the review, most men who do reviews are boring and lack emotion when presenting such vehicles to youtube audiences.

  • @ConnorGibbsAK
    @ConnorGibbsAK 9 лет назад

    I have the new Volvo XC90, and I must say that the second row seats, that give access to the rear, fold down. They don't judge fold forward like a Convertible, they actually fold (nearly) flat. You have to pull the string located next to the headrest to plop down the head rest, and then pull the lever all the way back and the seat will drop down.

  • @itzmando
    @itzmando 9 лет назад

    Oh wow, it was filmed in Ojai, CA. That's Ventura County's backyard. You guys were 30 mins away from where I live, and must have been when we had rain pour last week.
    Very nice Volvo. I always enjoyed the look of gen 1, but this gen 2 looks great especially changing their navi integration and how to operate it. But maybe down the road a refresh might make in on my list along with 3G MDX. Enjoying my 2011 MDX.

  • @JabbaDuhHut
    @JabbaDuhHut 9 лет назад

    Really nice-looking design - much nicer than the original.
    One thing I LOVE about my Volvo XC60 is that I can adjust the temperature and fan speed without looking away from the road. The bottom left big knob is temp and the small one in the middle is fan. I can even feel my way around the "Body" "Head" and "Feet" adjustments, again without looking.
    I hate touch-screen controls like the one on this vehicle. I had a Lincoln once with such a setup (literally two physical buttons on the dash) and found it very distracting when driving.
    Also, owning and maintaining a Volvo isn't for the weak of heart. Parts and maintenance are ridiculously expensive. That said, they're a pleasure to drive and very well built.

    I don't mean to insult anyone, nor do I wish to insult anyone's favorite musical group, or favorite song...but PLEASE cut out the danged music. I'd really love to actually HEAR the car! I'd also love to see the gauges as Emme is driving, if it can be safely done. I'm here (as I suppose most are) to find out about this Volvo SUV, not some music group. Maybe you folks have this confused with a music video. Also, I thought that I would add that this is a 4 cylinder, luxury SUV. I seriously doubt that the buyers of this car need or want to hear what it sounds like as you sit in park and rev the engine. Maybe if this was something with a large V8 hot rod or a Ferrari...what are you, a bunch of sixteen year olds? It might have been nice if there had been any kind of mention regarding fuel economy or the number of cubic feet with the third row seats put away. But no, instead, we get a lesson regarding a rap song. Oh, thanks a lot for that wonderful review. This is one of the WORST car reviews that I have seen Emme do.

    The ignition switch and transmission selector seems pretty funky. I can see some issues arising especially with the gear selector. Leave it to the Swedes to try something unique. I wouldn't be surprised if this model makes it to a second generation those two things will be discarded for something a little more conventional.

    • @JSVSouth

      Statimtek Interesting Volvo putting the ignition switch in the center console, that used to be a SAAB trademark. I guess the Swedes like it.

    A couple things that I noticed;
    1. The same camera scenes were redundant and annoying. I saw that right hand turn in the light rain four times...
    2. did not fully show the trunk with the third row down. For parents who need to fill up with suv with strollers luggage and whatever that would have been nice.
    3. I would have liked to have known the towing capacity. With that much power I would assume it can tow a little. Aside from that minor detail the sound it makes is not that great... with a supercharger I wanted to hear a subtle whine and I did not get it.
    4. I have to admit the quality of filming was a little shaky,,, made me a little noxious.
    5. There should have been a demonstration of the drive modes, what there were, does the steering wheel offer you to change the drive mode. Is there any sort of all-terrain modes?
    LASTLY, I like your style Emme but I wish it was a little more in tune with what that car had to offer. Your reviews on sporty BMW's and the input on the trucks you review with Roman are pretty interesting because you add a good deal of input on subtle details. My favorite part was your feedback on road response through the steering wheel, just as an example...

      +Josh Feidt . Good point Josh but those just looked like regular fog lights to me not turning lights. My Ford ST-3 has the CORNERING LIGHTS that you refer to. Are you positive about these lights on this model Volvo? Our Cross Country is a 2004 so you are correct it's not exactly new. But I still stand behind my statement that Volvo's are expensive to keep on the road.

      +Philip Rosenthale yes they are cornering. My parents test drove one of these back in May and they work in unison with the actual bending lights at night as well. Volvo is not cheap to maintain, but premium quality comes at a premium price, unfortunately.

    Not your best review but you did say that you haven't really had it long. Personally i love the SUV. Just love the interiors of Audis and volvos. They worry more about making a few good products than being the biggest kid on the block.
