I really *love* that Jason's signature isn't on the guitar while still being uniquely him. It's such a cool and humble approach to a signature model. Who signs their guitar anyway? Good choice.
I don't think there's anything inherently arrogant about artists having their signatures on their signature models, at this point it's just the norm really
I remember the other brand with Mateus Asatto face silhouette on the neck plate. I liked it better than hand signature on headstock. Although, on the market, a hand signature (plus certificate) really boost the price (2nd hand used) LOL
@@joshhogan171 I don't think anyone is saying that it's arrogant. It's just weird to me personally. Signing your instrument. Like, why would someone ever do that? Makes me want to get it less actually. As opposed to this one. Also, I don't think that because something is the norm it's good or better. Or is legitimized just because it's something we've done in the past. Very often the opposite is the case. Anyway, I think Jason has found an awesome and creative way of putting himself into this guitar.
I did not know who Jason was before seeing this guitar, when I bought this fantastic guitar I looked for who was the mind of this instrument, I met jason and I understood everything, congratulations for this magnificent guitar, you can not compare it to other guitars, you have to take it try it and listen to its sounds to understand its beauty
Glad to see some more new respectable and inspiring players getting some models. Isbell has put in his time. Huge deal and great accomplishment Jason. A Fender signature series. Epic.
It's two years old now. this video and since the guitar has been released. I had just discovered it. I had a telecaster (older than the 70's guitars) I didn't want to ruin it. I sold it. Knowing the mistake at the time I still sold it. I swear to this day on the telecaster. I detect this particular guitar to be as good as my old Fender and do intend to buy one. These are my thoughts. A rocker not much of a country fan. James Pell. Good presentation. Good guitar.
i don't know much about Jason or his music, but that guitar is one of the sexiest things i have ever seen! great work fender and great work Jason for creating something special!
jason and other contemporary country artists are spearheading a modern golden age of country music. it's not an exaggeration to say that he is among the greatest songwriters of this generation, and what's crazy is that he's not alone. as i said, good, proper country music is booming these days. check out amanda shires, maren morris, sturgill simpson, tyler childers, turnpike troubadours, brandi carlile, drive by truckers, josh ritter and more
thanks for the heads up! i'm excited to explore his music and country music in general. with time, i've come to really appreciate the honesty in country music.... i'm still getting that guitar :P
I've always been mostly a metal style player. But,when it comes down to Jason Isbell I can definitely get down...I remember seeing him on Austin City Limits a few years back a few years ago and when I heard "Danko/Manuel" WoW!!!
John Mayer, a great songwriter and guitarist, saying that Jason Isbell's poetry is on a whole different level, means something. And I really like John Mayer, especially "Bigger Than My Body" and "Neon". But that hasn't anything on "Cover Me Up" or "If We Were Vampires".
people are complaining about it being a MIM tele but S. Korea is making some of the best stuff rn, if you don't believe it go pick up a rivolta or d'angelico and then come back and gripe about it.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I don't get the crowd who get butthurt over this stuff... okay that's a lie. I DO get why. Afterall, you were born in America, so we should only buy American products, regardless of quality compared to other countries. Clearly, we're all born into debt. What next? They gonna tell me that if I buy a Korean guitar, I'll go to hell?
Road Worns used to sort of leave me cold, but having owned or played two of the latest signature Road Worn Teles (Paisley, Hynde) I'm really looking forward to this one. The less-aggressive relicing on the 2021's is a great idea, Fender.
ya whatya gonna do play a wedding in a 3 peice suit with a beat guitar? about 3/4 of this relicing stuff looks pretty fake anyway. a well loved decades old guitar with real wear is what looks awesome.
Thank God Jason had enough sense and humbleness to not want his name plastered on the neck. That has always been a deterrent for me on other signature models. Beautiful instrument and enjoy his stories.
I just got one of these. It’s great, but it’s mentioned that the back of the neck is speedy, comfy , no gloss. My neck is sticky and there is gloss. Should I send it back? Or does does the first coats of lacquer have to be played out?
I was thinking the same thing! Had to pause the video to make sure I saw that right. Maybe he did that on purpose so it wasn’t at $2,000+ for this guitar....
@@chriskallio8254 Agreed! That has always drove me nuts! Pay $1,500 for an Artist series guitar and you get a shitty gig bag. Hell even Epiphone gives you a case for their artist models....
I have this guitar and I really love it. Especially the pickups and the neck. And it looks beautiful. Jason Isbell is great and I loved to see also Sadler Vaden in the video too, as he's a great guy and a stunning guitar player. By the way: isn't Sadler playing a Pro Junior?! I have one too and it looks like, but I can't tell exactly from the vide (could be a Blues Junior, but I'm more for the Pro Junior...)
I’m not regretting buying this, but I’m irritated by the skunk stripe needing to be sanded flush over and over. Maybe it had different moisture content than neck? Poorly glued? Considering buying an upgrade neck.
I just bought the Jason Isbell Fender Telecaster and I thought it was so cool, now I here him against Jason Aldean's "Small Town" we lived through this horrific pain of watching our City's burn for nothing, people losing everything and he stands with the lot against Jason Aldean. I hope I can sell my new fender Isbell Tele before it becomes as worthless as he is now.
Bought this guitar for dad’s 75th birthday. Last nigh, Jason signed it for us!
You don't need any proof that you've made it. But, a signature Tele. Hell yeah. Proud of you man.
Not only one of the greatest songwriters of our generation but also a brilliant guitarist as well. Well deserved.

The Neck Plate is a cooler option,

Best songwritter alive. You’re amazing, Jason.
What an incredibly humble, decent sounding guy. It is incredibly refreshing to see this sort of genuine presentation.
Fender and Isbell, complimentary American treasures.....
"Something More Than Free" -- One of the great songs of our times.
Jason Isbell is a super, super talented guy and a fantastic player, singer, and songwriter. Cool looking guitar, too.

Looks great, sounds great, and even snuck in a Sadler Vaden cameo. Well done!
That time when I watched the WHOLE ad. Love Jason
Congratulations Jason. You’ve left your mark on Fender history.

That decision to still put truss rod from headstock, regardless all those classic approach, is highly appreciated! Nicely done.
Yeah but what about the skunk stripe ?
@@victorramirez1652 what about it?
It's such a great guitar! Kudos Jason and Fender 🙌🏻
The legend is here
Was blasting the new Cardinal Black song today, followed by Flying Over Water. Two legends, just one a few years behind the other.
Am not surprised at all that you know Jason Isbell’s music. Two great players with perfect feel on guitar. Loving the new song too Chris.
I’ve been waiting for the right Tele - this might be it

One of the greatest living songwriters and a lovely person.

1500 is a surprisingly affordable price for this, IMO. It's a beautiful guitar, for sure.
Made in Mexico. Not a bad thing but that’s one of the main reasons why.
If it had a hard case 1500 is great
Insanely awesome price for a road worn custom feel. love the plate imprint meaning. great work JI and Fender! just Take my money!
What a great artist, well deserving his own signature model! Love them Teles with binding :-)
Just what the world needs: another Tele!
The world always needs another Tele.
I had no idea this existed. I been trying to decide on which tele to get for a year. Found it.

I'm surprised there's not an American made version of this.
Come back and visit us here in New Zealand again real soon Jason!

THIS IS THE WAY
Is that a tweed deluxe his playing with the tele in the end of the video when his jamming? Mid video It's definitely a tweed twin.
