@@devintompkins9626 I wouldn't say Lox is easy. They take a lot of damage, they hit hard and they're in a very dangerous Biome for that point in the game. Wolves are relatively easy.
@@LargeLadCharles I mean the plains biome is hard if you run into mosquitoes or goblins. Lox are fairly easy to kite where wolves are fast and can easily one shot you unless you are already rather geared. The biome requires you to hug a fire or have frost resist potions too. I wouldn't say wolves are any easier or harder than lox, but I found lox pretty much easy to just bow down. Wolves I killed from a distance too but found them sneacking up and swarming me far more often. :)
May I add another tip when soloing a boss? Build a small yet well protected home to establish a close respawn point. I've built many small cabins, or dug under large rocks, so I can make a bed and fire. The mountain has many large rocks and I used two of them that were close together as a small respawn point. Just pick axe your way to the base, or close to it, and then dig into the large rocks. Shear a cliff off the front of it so the wolves don't come knocking later on. This tactic has helped greatly by saving me a long run back to my body, if I die that is.. =-)
So get this, me and my friend were about to fight Moder. We had built a small house with a crafting bench inside so we could make arrows if we needed them. So fast forward, we summon Moder. She completely ignores us the entire fight and focused on destroying that house. It’s like her AI decided that taking out our house was more important. Easiest fight ever. xD
The AI of mobs is that if they have no pathfinding to you they destroy the nearest prop. If you can place stone you can literally have a fortress in the mountains.
FireSpark81 if you didn't know, Flax and Barley can be harvested (when fully grown) with a weapon. The 2handed mace works really well, because of the big aoe. Doesn't work with carrots or turnips though. This comment should probably be on your farming video, but I hope you see it here and can maybe pass the info on to others.
There are some new foods that may have been added that you should have for the fight. Like onion soup (3 onions), wolf skewers (1 wolf meat, 2 mushrooms, 1 onion), or eyescream ( 3 greydwarf eyes, 1 frozen gland).
This isn't in regards to Moder himself but super helpful in the prep part. There are 2 huge tips to make all of this better: 1-frost resistant potions are still potentially useful even after you get frost resis armor. In case you ever die in the biome, the frost potion can help you keep from freezing while doing a run back to the corpse. 2-not sure if this is considered an exploit but I assume the devs intended this since they allow you to travel between worlds with everything on your character...just have 2 worlds to transport ores/dragon eggs. This process is easier/quicker if the world you are gathering from is NOT the same as the one where you plan to use everything/main world. I'll give an example to help illustrate my point. Let's say world A is where you plan to fight Moder. Gather an egg while in world A. Log out then log in to world B and drop the egg in a chest. Log back into world A and repeat the process. Once you have all the eggs you need in world B, go to the summon spot in world A then do the world switch to grab eggs and presto you've achieved your goal without needing to involve carts and boats and everything else that is a part of transporting things without portals. BONUS tip: this is definitely exploiting my 2nd tip but the 2 world thing can be used in a pinch to avoid death whether by running out of stamina while swimming or in a fight. I once got hit by the wolf raid out of nowhere and I was 1 hit from death with 0 stamina. I logged out then went into my world B (your health and stamina also stays the same between worlds) and I healed myself up and ensured my stamina went back to 100%. I then logged back into world A and destroyed the bloodthirsty pack attacking me.
I don't think the exploit was intended. But by being able to switch servers on the fly with your inventory makes it impossible to fix. The game is hard enough as it is, so I just look at it as a mechanic.

Another great guide to Kill a Boss solo. As of 4/3/21 Moder can and will wipe out your roof in the tunnel by smashing it's wing claws down. I know I was down pretty far, and it even smashed my work bench. Still killed Moder on my first try. Thanks!
Shortcut I used..... Just dig a trench directly next to/around the spawning platform as deep as your pit.... I even put my portal 'below' the lip of the platform and it survived the fight. easy enough to rotate out of her LOS.
Didn't watch the video but I can say just facing him in the mountains breaks him already. I literally face tanked him to death slapping away with a maxed iron axe. The few times he got a slap in, it was for maybe all of 40-50 damage which was quickly soaked by all three food buffs I had running (lox meat, serpent stew, and sausages). Basically when he lands, his AI is just busted. I had already made the comment to myself that this game probably doesn't have frost trolls for the simple fact they couldn't get the AI running in the mountains. Sad, but probably true given the state of Moder.
I mean it's clear they haven't got the pathing correct for Modur when he's traversing the hills. I dont know why they didn't just generate some kind of mountain top nest arena for him.
I'm hoping for a combat update to AI soon. I was telling my friends Moder would be hard but it didn't kill a single one of us until we starting posing next to her cuz she was near death. It just flew up, shot ice once a minute, landed and didn't move afterwards for a minute, and then repeated that pattern. It was pretty disappointing since we spent over 5 hours searching for her.
This seems unnecessary unless you are absolutely blazing through the game and not mining. Un upgraded silver set with meat food buffs will let you survive multiple hits and hp potion for safety. Bow takes forever even with draugr fang and obsidian arrows. Just use a melee weapon with the heavy attack after blocking
Can you explain how you got 3x200 +100 (756/300)materials to the altar. I didn’t see cart. Multiple trips? You said it can’t be teleported. 6:17 Can the cart be pulled with more than I can carry? I’ve not built one yet, but soon
yes you can carry way more. You can fill the cart with copper ore and pull it, but it's slow, takes a lot of stamina und uphill you need to sprint. Oh, and if you move against small rocks, bushes or the small trees, the cart takes damage
I find the carts to be more annoying than anything. Depending on how much of a mountain you are climbing it's impossible. My Moder was in a very vertical area. I would of never gotten a cart near her. Luckily I did her with some friends so we each just carried an egg. So be careful of the mountain Moder is in
I don't think anyone saying to make a cart has actually brought the eggs up solo lol. You will die trying to carry a cart with 600 weight up a mountain lol. I'd suggest trying to locate the alter and search for eggs around the area. Even if you have the belt that allows you to carry more, you can still only carry 1 with your armor + weapons. Hope this helps
I wouldn't suggest the lox cape thats next tier. The wolf cape and the wolf upper armour have the same frost resistance buff. Make both before the boss.
moders attacks are very, very simple. the ice attack can be easily avoided by watching the dragon, when it takes a deep breath you pick left or right and run. when moder lands on the ground, again movement is going to help you here because the dragon is slow so you can deal more damage when its not flying.
How do you manage to not spawn any mobs during fight? For me stone golems, dragons and wolves spawn regularly mid boss fight making it incredibly hard to deal with all at the same time.. Horror trip to get all that gear back from dieing 😅
One thing ppl forget to do when fighting these big bosses is to make a small cabin to put a workstation and a bed in and make it a spawn point not far from the boss fight area, that way if you die you don't have a long terror-filled trek back to ur stuff. 🤔Or better yet, if ur able to, put a cabin with a portal in it along with a workstation and supplies and another area with a portal a few feet from that boss fight area as well.😄🥩🍖🍲🥣🍯🍺🍄
Yeah, I feel you. I got visited by a total of three stone golems two wolves and a bunch of drakes in a full in-game day while fighting Moder without any trenches or houses. I somehow managed to kill all of those mobs, thanks to my fully upgraded wolf armor. Alas, night time came along and I got overwhelmed by a combination of two drakes and a two-star wolf who just ate me whole. I died three more times just to get all my stuff and have yet to give the actual fight another try. Pretty frustrating, given that I was about 80% there.
I made an arena with about a 12-15x15 flat area with 4 raised ground pillars in the middle. Just ran around it while shooting and hid behind the pillars when she does the flying ice breath thing. It took about 200 fire arrows with the Draugr bow, durability is fine. I dunno how the poison arrows fare, wiki says poison does better damage on her
if you are farming silver you should not waste time on Lox and instead need to just farm wolves since youll have a frost resist running anyhow. The wolf cape is the same as Lox and farmed in the zone youll be in anyhow.
@@gabormester you can get more than enough silver to max out the cape in one run. Since you need some silver to make the lox cape anyways might as well just finish the silver run and make a maxed out wolf cape.
I need help. I fought Moder around six times and died. I was finally able to get my stuff, so I went to my base to regroup. I went back though my portal, this time with plenty of arrows, food and meads. But, she was no where to be found on the mountain. I thought I had to get three more eggs to respawn her. But as soon as I was close to my portal in the meadows she appeared. As sooon as she showed up, it went pitch black. The only thing I could see was greydwarf eyes and modors ice breath/bombs.I tried to make it back to my portal, but a troll and at least six greydwafts stopped me. I never made it to my portal. My portal was destroyed. So, I built another ship and went back there. I was carful no to arrive at night. It didn’t matter. As soon as a got in sight of my grave, Motar appeared and I never made it. It’s as if the game doesn’t want me to play. Can anyone help? Any suggestions?
When NPC get caught up like that you will need either another player to engage their AI or use an animal like a deer or boar they can attract the AI attention and allow you to move around without being hounded 24/7
Excellent presentation, and I am going to be incorporating your suggestions when I take on Moder, which is very soon. I previously called her and died in the mountains and I preparing to try again. However, she's waiting this time and will attack if I get too close. The mountain is located adjacent to the plains, and I've decided to fight her there because - although there's the goblins, mosquitoes and lox to deal with, I believe it will be safer than trying to approach her from the mountains (no time to build the necessary arrangements). Also the area is isolated, with few hostiles around, so I believe I should be safe from them. Now, a few questions. As I said I'm taking your suggestions, but am adding a few of my own ideas. I'll be interested in what you think. First, I intend to put a teleporter at the end of the trench, in front of the crafting table. It's counter-part will be located a safe distance away - but still within range. This will provide a fast way to move back and forth between two points during the fight. Second, instead of wood boards, what about the possibility of using stone flooring to cover the top? They would be more durable and less likely to break during the fight. In fact, to really hedge my bets, I'm considering using a triple layer of stone, with the wood and iron reinforcements. Please let me know what you think, because I've been killed by her about four times now, and really want this time to succeed.
I spawned next to a mountain. I was finally able to check my mountain and i found out moder altar is right there 😆 lucky abd alrrady got 3 eggs. I havent even killed bonemass yet but tonight it will fall
I really wish hitting her with a single arrow still took away that much health. I tried for about an hour tonight and couldn't even get her past half health. Quit because it just wasn't fun anymore.
Health pool is way too big for just arrows I recommend mele. Still health pool too big though it will take a while. But I was a able to kill it before my rested buff ran out.
hey firespark, have you, or anyone you know....done the research to find out if fully drawing a bow gives more XP opposed to just rapid firing to level bows quickly?
I think you should redo this. As others have mentioned, you can just make the Wolf armor. But just using arrows doesnt seem to be the way. I think my fight went on for at least 3 days straight and I used 100s of arrows. Toward the end I was just sick of it and went to God mode to experiment. I simply blocked his breathe with my shield when he was on the ground and beat him to death with my club. That seems to do like 10X more damage and wouldnt have taken days. So if I were to do over I would use arrows until he landed then run up and beat him down. Its possible god mode mitigated some damage but appeared like block worked fine
@@bitofbeer There is one on almost every good sized island (except for the starting one) typically near the center of it. If you are having trouble finding a mountain, you must have gotten a really odd random seed for your map.
funny. I never foudn turnips. But I already had lox meat adn serpent meat before bonemass. But also, unless you are speed running, you shoudl have the draugr fang at this point aswell. I also cheesed by accident. There was a huge silver vein just before the altar, so after mining there was a huge hole, he didn't want to cross. So everytime he flew up and over, I just walked around again to the other side.
I fought Moder last night. I placed the 3 eggs and just hit the altar to activate it, when I hear a noise behind me. I turn around and there's a stone golem about to hit me. I ran around for 5 minutes before activating the altar to make sure there were no mobs that were going to join the fight. I killed about 12 drakes, 3 wolves, and a stone golem. Then this other stone golem spawns right behind me when I start the moder fight. I was so pissed, but managed to kill everything without dying.
The fight was cheesy enough already for me. I just attacked with mele and blocked and dodged, with occasional fire arrows shot when she flew up. Took about 15 min tbh the health pool is far too big.
Didnt something change? I had sheltered area, partially under altar and she bombed me with aerial attack - since its capable of destroying rocks with one shot, it went through roof like knife through butter and one shot me.
boss was really easy once you figure out you have to run from the attacks not block/dodge them just keep doing laps around a tall rock untill they land and u pretty much cant be hit
Actually solved this two ways. Explored mountains, found a silver vein poking out of the ground. Got the silver needed for wolf cape without killing bonemass. Also, Found lox across a river. Shot them and by the time I had to actually deal with the thing it only had 1/4 health left. Super easy.
This fight really isn't that bad. I beat it with full silver armor and sword. I used the serpent scale shield that I upgraded and that was enough to block all of Moder's slashing attacks and maybe 1 or 2 damage got through which is what you really need, the armor isn't so important. Then when Moder flew I ran around and dodged. Moder's real weakness is the attack frequency on this boss is so low. You have more than enough time to do a few attacks then let your stamina recharge then block then repeat. Also if you are standing to the side of Moder's head the ice breath attack can't hit you and you can keep attacking. If you go along with the natural progression of the way the game was designed it's an easy fight with no cheese method involved. Beat it the first attempt without any issue.
much easier to get the wolf cape....gotta go to the mountain anyway so just get some wolf pelt....mind you have to beat the bonemass to get the wishbone but once you have the wolf cape no need for frost res pots
I tried soloing him after H&H patch and it seems that his health now regenerates everytime I go underground into the hole I built. Anyone else encountered this?
Yep...and it's annoying, too. Makes the fight take twice as long or more. I was trying to finish off a reverse boss run for fun and it's been VERY hard because of the changes to the fights.
Do you think having the draught bow maxed out (durability wise) would be enough to solo it without repair? Pretty sure i can shot 200-300 arrow without repairing it
I killed the boss with a huntsman bow that was level 2, so you shouldn't have to repair it if it's upgraded at all. It also means the fight is faster and uses fewer arrows because you are doing more damage.
i think im cursed. ive had bad luck with all of these easy boss fighting tricks. this one i wanted to dig down but the alter was literally right next to a river only a couple of strikes down i hit water and the deer god kept running away from my wood fort so i had to leave it to fight him.
So, I did this method and the dragon glitched its body into the tunnel. I keep having to log out and heal up in another world. The dragon only hits every few moves. Still I may die :/
This is pretty pointless. Just dig around the platform to dodge the aerial frost attacks, then pop up and melee Moder when she lands. You can easily take her hits with a silver shield (and probably iron).
You can drag it onto land with the harpoon and butcher it. Metal AF. Keep in mind if you're solo you'll need to steer towards land before harpooning cuz you cant harpoon and steer. Pretty sure its the only way to get the scales cuz they sink in water. Not 100% sure on that.
@@TheLazyLostBoy It is possible to go underwater but not too deep and even so its quite hard, my big ship got destroyed because of bug, it just turn upside down and took damage until it sank, so hide and iron nails were on bottom about 6 walls deep. I managed to build 45 degree roofs underwater and if you swim into that roof, you go down to bottom. Spent like 2 hours to build it, but its possible.
u can save a lot of stone raising the terrain by only raising a little bit and then using the hoe to finish raising it to height. youll have to come back and raise the ground where pot holes are but it saves 5x-10x stone
You find it in the goblin camps in the plains. Also unlike turnips and carrots you can only grow barley and flax in the plains, so you need to start a little farm out there. They also give you x2 per plant. so you can grow your farm pretty quickly.
This is a ridiculous overcomplicated strategy. She is easy to melee if you time it right. No prep work needed. Avoid her ice breath while she's on the ground, but her swipe and bite attack don't do much damage at all if blocked. After you block, she gives you more than enough time to get in a three hit combo each time.
but, how do you bring the eggs to the altar tho? Since they weigh 200. (without using another world) edit: I can think of one way, which is bringing the eggs one by one. But is there a way to bring all together at once without using another world?
@@trazuin you didnt factor in other items in your inventory, so if i were to have the belt, i would only be able to bring one egg since i have other items (e.g. iron gear). which begs the question, howd fire spark bring 3 eggs at the same time? edit: if he used another world or console commands, its understandable, but if he brought it without using those 2 method, i wanted to know another edit: i forgot carts existed, nvm
@@itsjohncena8687 the legit way is to put them in a boat, drive to moder, and carry them up one at a time, this game is primarily made for coop right now, so solo is much harder, either way your mountain will likely have 2 of the 3 eggs you need so you should be good.
@@itsjohncena8687 I know for me and my friends, we just got insanely lucky and found 3 eggs on the same Mountain that had his altar on it. And yeah, that belt can work, but only if you keep yourself light, which isn't always the best, even more so when being chased by a say, a pack of wolves. Carts I would say are by far the best bet, aside from cheesing it with other worlds, just can be a pain to drag em up a Mountain sometimes.
I found more than three eggs in the mountains that my Moder altar is located. Every time i found an egg, i just brought it to the altar and placed it there, and then went back out to go grab another one from the next nest. I don't think that was particularly hard to do alone. Once you have the three eggs there, you go back to your base/outpost to grab all your heavy equipment, food , potions and ammo you think you might need, and then summon her.
So how would you recommend a solo player like myself getting those eggs up there lol? Also, I've been to 3 different mountains and I still can't find a tower and barely, I mean barely could get about 70 silver. My wishbone only pinged 2 areas next to each other and basically turned itself off after that. I'm currently trying to find another mountain, but no luck. Feels like I've been everywhere.
@@BENiiFIT head all the way North and you will find The Deep North! It's all snow biome and that's where my boss was. Barley is only in the plains btw. Solo steps I took. 1. Run around the mountain marking any silver deposits you find but not digging them. 2. Locate a stone structure in the mountain and read where your boss is. 3. Search for dragon eggs around the area of the boss and make a chest next to alter so you don't need to make 3 long trips up and down the mountain!
so while you cant teleport the eggs you CAN teleport yourself.. so take that silver make yourself a set of silver (cold resistant) armor... drop everthing except the stuff to make a portal.. go up to the altar area make yourslef a little forward operating base.. drop a portal.. port home.. grab egg walk it up the moutnain to the altar drop it in.. portal home.. rinse and repeat.... there are mountain biomes located in nearly all medium to large sized altars.. start setting up little mini bases everywhere with the stuff to process resources
@@scallivant2270 so I was on reddit and this seed called Helloworld has all 5 bosses right next to each other and it’s beautifully laid out. I’m currently restarting on that seed. Compared to my seed it’s perfect. I couldn’t believe how bad of a seed I actually had til I saw this one. Definitely check it out on reddit!
They look incredibly similar to the carrot seed spawns you find in the black forest, a slightly different shade, but they stick out just as much. Visually almost the exact same design, aside from the coloring. I've noticed that not all biomes with the same name are created equally. If you aren't having any luck in one swamp, try to find another
He’s easy, we used Obsidian and needle arrows and just dodge left and right when he telegraphs he about to shoot ice blocks down. Dodging the breath when he is on the ground is even easier strafing running directly left or right like with the air attack. Rinse and repeat easy win 🙂. Using the Comfort 9 16 minute rest bonus helps a lot too and carry stamina potions too just in case. If out of Stamina when he is doing one of the breath attacks you are corpse running.
Imagine, those who can't think and use game mechanics, comparing those who can to cheaters. So in war when the enemy uses terrain for a win, I guess they cheated huh? Doesn't matter as the winners write the history anyway.
Whats dumb is that they made Moder super powerful against stone buildings, which the player has just unlocked at this point. As if they didnt want the player to build defenses for the fight. Boss fights should be instances where all of your experience and capabilities up to that point come into play. Why punish the player for using tools they just earned?
Don’t make a Lox Cape, make a Wolf Cape. Exact same effect, far easier to get a hold of, looks way cooler.
How do you learn to make that wolf cape? Cuz i killed 3wolfs but dident get it unlocked just a wolf rug

In Norse mythology the hero Sigurd defeats the dragon Fafnir in a similar way by digging a trench and attacking from beneath.

Dont use the frostner it doesnt do much damage to her at all. Try using an upgraded iron mace. It worked a lot better for me.
Another great guide to Kill a Boss solo. As of 4/3/21 Moder can and will wipe out your roof in the tunnel by smashing it's wing claws down. I know I was down pretty far, and it even smashed my work bench. Still killed Moder on my first try. Thanks!

Shortcut I used.....
Just dig a trench directly next to/around the spawning platform as deep as your pit.... I even put my portal 'below' the lip of the platform and it survived the fight. easy enough to rotate out of her LOS.
I found eggs inside a mountain.
The crystal was sticking out so I used my pick axe, egg was inside mountain rock...
add a campfire for rested and resting buff as well if your doing it this way for the 400% STAM

Didn't watch the video but I can say just facing him in the mountains breaks him already. I literally face tanked him to death slapping away with a maxed iron axe. The few times he got a slap in, it was for maybe all of 40-50 damage which was quickly soaked by all three food buffs I had running (lox meat, serpent stew, and sausages). Basically when he lands, his AI is just busted. I had already made the comment to myself that this game probably doesn't have frost trolls for the simple fact they couldn't get the AI running in the mountains.
Sad, but probably true given the state of Moder.
I mean it's clear they haven't got the pathing correct for Modur when he's traversing the hills. I dont know why they didn't just generate some kind of mountain top nest arena for him.
I'm hoping for a combat update to AI soon. I was telling my friends Moder would be hard but it didn't kill a single one of us until we starting posing next to her cuz she was near death. It just flew up, shot ice once a minute, landed and didn't move afterwards for a minute, and then repeated that pattern. It was pretty disappointing since we spent over 5 hours searching for her.
This seems unnecessary unless you are absolutely blazing through the game and not mining. Un upgraded silver set with meat food buffs will let you survive multiple hits and hp potion for safety. Bow takes forever even with draugr fang and obsidian arrows. Just use a melee weapon with the heavy attack after blocking
Can you explain how you got 3x200 +100 (756/300)materials to the altar. I didn’t see cart. Multiple trips? You said it can’t be teleported. 6:17

yes you can carry way more. You can fill the cart with copper ore and pull it, but it's slow, takes a lot of stamina und uphill you need to sprint. Oh, and if you move against small rocks, bushes or the small trees, the cart takes damage
Just make a cart. Carry a little wood and toss a bench down to repair it while you're traveling.
I find the carts to be more annoying than anything. Depending on how much of a mountain you are climbing it's impossible. My Moder was in a very vertical area. I would of never gotten a cart near her. Luckily I did her with some friends so we each just carried an egg. So be careful of the mountain Moder is in
I don't think anyone saying to make a cart has actually brought the eggs up solo lol. You will die trying to carry a cart with 600 weight up a mountain lol. I'd suggest trying to locate the alter and search for eggs around the area. Even if you have the belt that allows you to carry more, you can still only carry 1 with your armor + weapons. Hope this helps
I wouldn't suggest the lox cape thats next tier.
The wolf cape and the wolf upper armour have the same frost resistance buff. Make both before the boss.

moders attacks are very, very simple. the ice attack can be easily avoided by watching the dragon, when it takes a deep breath you pick left or right and run. when moder lands on the ground, again movement is going to help you here because the dragon is slow so you can deal more damage when its not flying.
How do you manage to not spawn any mobs during fight? For me stone golems, dragons and wolves spawn regularly mid boss fight making it incredibly hard to deal with all at the same time.. Horror trip to get all that gear back from dieing 😅
you can dig a steep cliff around the circular area so stuff dont get up. Can't stop the drakes but you can stop whatever isnt flying
One thing ppl forget to do when fighting these big bosses is to make a small cabin to put a workstation and a bed in and make it a spawn point not far from the boss fight area, that way if you die you don't have a long terror-filled trek back to ur stuff. 🤔Or better yet, if ur able to, put a cabin with a portal in it along with a workstation and supplies and another area with a portal a few feet from that boss fight area as well.😄🥩🍖🍲🥣🍯🍺🍄
I had 2 Drakes show up, they made it interesting
Yeah, I feel you. I got visited by a total of three stone golems two wolves and a bunch of drakes in a full in-game day while fighting Moder without any trenches or houses. I somehow managed to kill all of those mobs, thanks to my fully upgraded wolf armor. Alas, night time came along and I got overwhelmed by a combination of two drakes and a two-star wolf who just ate me whole. I died three more times just to get all my stuff and have yet to give the actual fight another try. Pretty frustrating, given that I was about 80% there.
I made an arena with about a 12-15x15 flat area with 4 raised ground pillars in the middle. Just ran around it while shooting and hid behind the pillars when she does the flying ice breath thing. It took about 200 fire arrows with the Draugr bow, durability is fine. I dunno how the poison arrows fare, wiki says poison does better damage on her
Or you could use stone slabs as a rooftop instead; durability is better to work with (assuming you have a nearby base stacked with iron).
if you are farming silver you should not waste time on Lox and instead need to just farm wolves since youll have a frost resist running anyhow. The wolf cape is the same as Lox and farmed in the zone youll be in anyhow.
But the upgrades... Making silver requires you to ship it back to base while you can just farm lox anywhere.
@@gabormester you can get more than enough silver to max out the cape in one run. Since you need some silver to make the lox cape anyways might as well just finish the silver run and make a maxed out wolf cape.

I just raided four plains biomes for black metal and I haven't even beaten moder yet. If you have fully upgraded silver gear, it's possible.
I think the mist lands will be the next to finish it has trees an decorative aspect done but no enemies spawn so safe for base buildings in the trees

I see new updates tweeked the bosses, not sure in what way though.
I need help. I fought Moder around six times and died. I was finally able to get my stuff, so I went to my base to regroup. I went back though my portal, this time with plenty of arrows, food and meads. But, she was no where to be found on the mountain. I thought I had to get three more eggs to respawn her. But as soon as I was close to my portal in the meadows she appeared. As sooon as she showed up, it went pitch black. The only thing I could see was greydwarf eyes and modors ice breath/bombs.I tried to make it back to my portal, but a troll and at least six greydwafts stopped me. I never made it to my portal. My portal was destroyed. So, I built another ship and went back there. I was carful no to arrive at night. It didn’t matter. As soon as a got in sight of my grave, Motar appeared and I never made it. It’s as if the game doesn’t want me to play. Can anyone help? Any suggestions?
When NPC get caught up like that you will need either another player to engage their AI or use an animal like a deer or boar they can attract the AI attention and allow you to move around without being hounded 24/7
Also use troll armor with sneak movements this gets you atleast a +20 sneak and you can move around near enemies

Excellent presentation, and I am going to be incorporating your suggestions when I take on Moder, which is very soon.
I previously called her and died in the mountains and I preparing to try again. However, she's waiting this time and will attack if I get too close.
The mountain is located adjacent to the plains, and I've decided to fight her there because - although there's the goblins, mosquitoes and lox to deal with, I believe it will be safer than trying to approach her from the mountains (no time to build the necessary arrangements). Also the area is isolated, with few hostiles around, so I believe I should be safe from them.
Now, a few questions. As I said I'm taking your suggestions, but am adding a few of my own ideas. I'll be interested in what you think.
First, I intend to put a teleporter at the end of the trench, in front of the crafting table. It's counter-part will be located a safe distance away - but still within range. This will provide a fast way to move back and forth between two points during the fight.
Second, instead of wood boards, what about the possibility of using stone flooring to cover the top? They would be more durable and less likely to break during the fight. In fact, to really hedge my bets, I'm considering using a triple layer of stone, with the wood and iron reinforcements.
Please let me know what you think, because I've been killed by her about four times now, and really want this time to succeed.

I spawned next to a mountain. I was finally able to check my mountain and i found out moder altar is right there 😆 lucky abd alrrady got 3 eggs. I havent even killed bonemass yet but tonight it will fall

I really wish hitting her with a single arrow still took away that much health. I tried for about an hour tonight and couldn't even get her past half health. Quit because it just wasn't fun anymore.
Health pool is way too big for just arrows I recommend mele. Still health pool too big though it will take a while. But I was a able to kill it before my rested buff ran out.
hey firespark, have you, or anyone you know....done the research to find out if fully drawing a bow gives more XP opposed to just rapid firing to level bows quickly?

I think you should redo this. As others have mentioned, you can just make the Wolf armor. But just using arrows doesnt seem to be the way. I think my fight went on for at least 3 days straight and I used 100s of arrows. Toward the end I was just sick of it and went to God mode to experiment. I simply blocked his breathe with my shield when he was on the ground and beat him to death with my club. That seems to do like 10X more damage and wouldnt have taken days. So if I were to do over I would use arrows until he landed then run up and beat him down. Its possible god mode mitigated some damage but appeared like block worked fine
Put a portal down there instead of a workbench and you can repair whatever you want.
Also a fully upgraded Draugr Bow with Poison Arrows seemed to be enough DPS to not have to repair at all during the fight.

If you head all the way North you'll find the deep North! All the snow biome you could want! Bring supplies to make a portal though!

@@bitofbeer There is one on almost every good sized island (except for the starting one) typically near the center of it. If you are having trouble finding a mountain, you must have gotten a really odd random seed for your map.
I face tank it like a champ in full maxed iron (with lox cape) and health potions. HURA!

funny. I never foudn turnips. But I already had lox meat adn serpent meat before bonemass.
But also, unless you are speed running, you shoudl have the draugr fang at this point aswell.
I also cheesed by accident. There was a huge silver vein just before the altar, so after mining there was a huge hole, he didn't want to cross. So everytime he flew up and over, I just walked around again to the other side.
I fought Moder last night. I placed the 3 eggs and just hit the altar to activate it, when I hear a noise behind me. I turn around and there's a stone golem about to hit me. I ran around for 5 minutes before activating the altar to make sure there were no mobs that were going to join the fight. I killed about 12 drakes, 3 wolves, and a stone golem. Then this other stone golem spawns right behind me when I start the moder fight. I was so pissed, but managed to kill everything without dying.

The fight was cheesy enough already for me. I just attacked with mele and blocked and dodged, with occasional fire arrows shot when she flew up. Took about 15 min tbh the health pool is far too big.

Didnt something change? I had sheltered area, partially under altar and she bombed me with aerial attack - since its capable of destroying rocks with one shot, it went through roof like knife through butter and one shot me.
I was wondering, can you like fo a rock cage done with stone pillars and walls and try to trap the dragon? Just like in ark? Xd and then just go ham
boss was really easy once you figure out you have to run from the attacks not block/dodge them just keep doing laps around a tall rock untill they land and u pretty much cant be hit

Actually solved this two ways. Explored mountains, found a silver vein poking out of the ground. Got the silver needed for wolf cape without killing bonemass. Also, Found lox across a river. Shot them and by the time I had to actually deal with the thing it only had 1/4 health left. Super easy.
Just curious, but why not equip the belt for extra carry capacity?

Ya. Melee is the way to go on Moder. Just be sure to block her swipe and bite, and run to the side when she does her breath.
This fight really isn't that bad. I beat it with full silver armor and sword. I used the serpent scale shield that I upgraded and that was enough to block all of Moder's slashing attacks and maybe 1 or 2 damage got through which is what you really need, the armor isn't so important. Then when Moder flew I ran around and dodged. Moder's real weakness is the attack frequency on this boss is so low. You have more than enough time to do a few attacks then let your stamina recharge then block then repeat. Also if you are standing to the side of Moder's head the ice breath attack can't hit you and you can keep attacking. If you go along with the natural progression of the way the game was designed it's an easy fight with no cheese method involved. Beat it the first attempt without any issue.

much easier to get the wolf cape....gotta go to the mountain anyway so just get some wolf pelt....mind you have to beat the bonemass to get the wishbone but once you have the wolf cape no need for frost res pots

I was trying to finish off a reverse boss run for fun and it's been VERY hard because of the changes to the fights.

Do you think having the draught bow maxed out (durability wise) would be enough to solo it without repair? Pretty sure i can shot 200-300 arrow without repairing it
I killed the boss with a huntsman bow that was level 2, so you shouldn't have to repair it if it's upgraded at all. It also means the fight is faster and uses fewer arrows because you are doing more damage.
i think im cursed. ive had bad luck with all of these easy boss fighting tricks. this one i wanted to dig down but the alter was literally right next to a river only a couple of strikes down i hit water and the deer god kept running away from my wood fort so i had to leave it to fight him.
Buy the Megingjord belt from Haldor the Trader and the egg weight becomes a none issue...
they're 200 each, the belt boosts you by 150 and you can only wear one, it's still an issue to carry 3 at a time

So, I did this method and the dragon glitched its body into the tunnel. I keep having to log out and heal up in another world. The dragon only hits every few moves. Still I may die :/
This is pretty pointless. Just dig around the platform to dodge the aerial frost attacks, then pop up and melee Moder when she lands. You can easily take her hits with a silver shield (and probably iron).
Seems wierd to use the second bow when you can make 2 better ones.

You shoot it with a bow. As long as you’re not sailing on a raft, you will solo it easily with a bow.
frost arrows are super good, and a harpoon from the world turtle chitin can help
Its on the list. From what I have seen I have my work cut out for me on that one.
You can drag it onto land with the harpoon and butcher it. Metal AF. Keep in mind if you're solo you'll need to steer towards land before harpooning cuz you cant harpoon and steer. Pretty sure its the only way to get the scales cuz they sink in water. Not 100% sure on that.
@@TheLazyLostBoy It is possible to go underwater but not too deep and even so its quite hard, my big ship got destroyed because of bug, it just turn upside down and took damage until it sank, so hide and iron nails were on bottom about 6 walls deep. I managed to build 45 degree roofs underwater and if you swim into that roof, you go down to bottom. Spent like 2 hours to build it, but its possible.
u can save a lot of stone raising the terrain by only raising a little bit and then using the hoe to finish raising it to height. youll have to come back and raise the ground where pot holes are but it saves 5x-10x stone
We the players can't attack down too unless we use the stagmaul.
How to break moder: step one: fight moder. Step two: she gets stuck in terrain. That's it. That's the joke.
Can you find out how to grow the flax and barley?
Grows only in plains
You find it in the goblin camps in the plains. Also unlike turnips and carrots you can only grow barley and flax in the plains, so you need to start a little farm out there. They also give you x2 per plant. so you can grow your farm pretty quickly.

Is the dragon resistant to any dmg?

imune to frost and spirit, if you want to check any mob's resistance/weaknesses just check their page on valheim fandom wiki :)
This is a ridiculous overcomplicated strategy. She is easy to melee if you time it right. No prep work needed. Avoid her ice breath while she's on the ground, but her swipe and bite attack don't do much damage at all if blocked. After you block, she gives you more than enough time to get in a three hit combo each time.
but, how do you bring the eggs to the altar tho? Since they weigh 200. (without using another world)
edit: I can think of one way, which is bringing the eggs one by one. But is there a way to bring all together at once without using another world?
If you use the belt the trader sells, it raises your max carry weight. It will allow you to carry two at once.
@@trazuin you didnt factor in other items in your inventory, so if i were to have the belt, i would only be able to bring one egg since i have other items (e.g. iron gear). which begs the question, howd fire spark bring 3 eggs at the same time?

@@itsjohncena8687 the legit way is to put them in a boat, drive to moder, and carry them up one at a time, this game is primarily made for coop right now, so solo is much harder, either way your mountain will likely have 2 of the 3 eggs you need so you should be good.
@@itsjohncena8687 I know for me and my friends, we just got insanely lucky and found 3 eggs on the same Mountain that had his altar on it. And yeah, that belt can work, but only if you keep yourself light, which isn't always the best, even more so when being chased by a say, a pack of wolves. Carts I would say are by far the best bet, aside from cheesing it with other worlds, just can be a pain to drag em up a Mountain sometimes.
I found more than three eggs in the mountains that my Moder altar is located. Every time i found an egg, i just brought it to the altar and placed it there, and then went back out to go grab another one from the next nest. I don't think that was particularly hard to do alone. Once you have the three eggs there, you go back to your base/outpost to grab all your heavy equipment, food , potions and ammo you think you might need, and then summon her.
...Moder is hella easy though, disappointing, even. Yagluth gave me much more trouble (+ fulings and deathsquito galore)...

So how would you recommend a solo player like myself getting those eggs up there lol? Also, I've been to 3 different mountains and I still can't find a tower and barely, I mean barely could get about 70 silver. My wishbone only pinged 2 areas next to each other and basically turned itself off after that. I'm currently trying to find another mountain, but no luck. Feels like I've been everywhere.

@@BENiiFIT head all the way North and you will find The Deep North! It's all snow biome and that's where my boss was. Barley is only in the plains btw. Solo steps I took. 1. Run around the mountain marking any silver deposits you find but not digging them. 2. Locate a stone structure in the mountain and read where your boss is. 3. Search for dragon eggs around the area of the boss and make a chest next to alter so you don't need to make 3 long trips up and down the mountain!
so while you cant teleport the eggs you CAN teleport yourself.. so take that silver make yourself a set of silver (cold resistant) armor... drop everthing except the stuff to make a portal.. go up to the altar area make yourslef a little forward operating base.. drop a portal.. port home.. grab egg walk it up the moutnain to the altar drop it in.. portal home.. rinse and repeat.... there are mountain biomes located in nearly all medium to large sized altars.. start setting up little mini bases everywhere with the stuff to process resources
@@scallivant2270 so I was on reddit and this seed called Helloworld has all 5 bosses right next to each other and it’s beautifully laid out. I’m currently restarting on that seed. Compared to my seed it’s perfect. I couldn’t believe how bad of a seed I actually had til I saw this one. Definitely check it out on reddit!
went through 2 entire swamps, could not find any turnips...how do they look like?

They look incredibly similar to the carrot seed spawns you find in the black forest, a slightly different shade, but they stick out just as much. Visually almost the exact same design, aside from the coloring. I've noticed that not all biomes with the same name are created equally. If you aren't having any luck in one swamp, try to find another

He’s easy, we used Obsidian and needle arrows and just dodge left and right when he telegraphs he about to shoot ice blocks down. Dodging the breath when he is on the ground is even easier strafing running directly left or right like with the air attack. Rinse and repeat easy win 🙂. Using the Comfort 9 16 minute rest bonus helps a lot too and carry stamina potions too just in case. If out of Stamina when he is doing one of the breath attacks you are corpse running.
obsidian arrows do a lot of damage to her
Obsidian arrows do more upfront damage, but they get outclassed when you include the damage over time of poison.

Imagine, those who can't think and use game mechanics, comparing those who can to cheaters. So in war when the enemy uses terrain for a win, I guess they cheated huh? Doesn't matter as the winners write the history anyway.

Whats dumb is that they made Moder super powerful against stone buildings, which the player has just unlocked at this point. As if they didnt want the player to build defenses for the fight. Boss fights should be instances where all of your experience and capabilities up to that point come into play. Why punish the player for using tools they just earned?
