    Hey man, check the bias rating on the amp, these JVMs come very cold from factory which makes them sound scooped and harsh. Bring the bias up to 70mv per pair... the amp opens up and comes alive, the change is dramatic, specially on the mids. Give that a shot before you let it go. I love mine!

    The amp sounds great once you learn how to use it, since you basically skipped over tons of actual channel settings that all sound great. Source: my JVM 410H, and pretty much everybody who has ever played one.

    I'm not a Marshall guy but i have that Jvm410 and Jcm800 stealth. For the Jvm OD1 & OD2 i would not put the gain more than 12 o'clock & it's a great amp specially by boosting by SD1:)

    I picked up a DSL a few months back. I owned one in 2003, and my new one sounds much more aggressive than the older one. I was completely surprised. I never bought a Marshall ever since i sold my old one 15 years ago because it was not as aggressive as my 5150 or my JPC+. They must have changed something. It sounds great to me, enough where i bought that 410 and a TSL. So, for me, i fell back in love with Marshall. It sounds great, and your playing is killer.

    Always loved the sound of the JVM series. Alexi from Children of Bodom put it on my radar years ago. Something about the Marshall voicing has always made it one of my favorite amps. You may want to check out a JCM 800 or even a Silver Jubilee...that worked for Slayer.

    I used to jam with a guy who loved his JVM410 , and I have my JP2C , we would plug into each others amps, and neither of could jell with the others amp, but we didn't sound completely different from each other when we were playing thru our own amps. So too each his own.

    I have the JVM410H amp also and I love it. It takes time to master all the possible sounds you can get out of this amp but when you do, it covers a lot of territory. It takes pedals really good in front of the amp and loop also. I run mine through 1960A and 1960B cabinets most of the time. Not going to sell mine.

    Looks like most ofl the eq's are set straight up at noon? He adjusted the gain but nothing else? On OD2 the bass and mids are on 10. C'mon man. This amp is a beast, but you gotta dial it in.

    I tend to use less gain then you do. I was going to sell mine but then I swapped V1 with a 12AU7 to bring it down a little more and make thing more usable for me. To be honest after that change I wanted to keep the amp.

    @Tone WARS On the Green Clean channel volume is controlled by the master, the channel volume does nothing because it's all powered by the power tubes on it and not the channel volume . Not sure if you realize later I literally paused when I saw you crank the channel(I haven't noticed any "easter eggs" by diming it, but thats the only channel that behaves like this on it. Resuming.:)!

    Yes...this Marshall JVM sound is subjective. I had the Mesa Boogie (Dual Rectifier and Mark IV and V), Peavey, and Randall. And none of them does it for me. My last Mesa Boogie Mark V was good for modern metal (i.e., Dream Theater) and Blues and Clean...but it couldn't really captured my type music, i.e., Ozzy, Iron Maiden, Journey, G&R, AC/DC, Whitesnake, Skid Row, Boston, Led Zeppelin, and all classic rock, etc. If course, I also returned my Mark V back to Sweetwater. Lol. Now, I really miss my Marshall sound and going to buy it pretty soon. cheers.

    I think it‘s great that everyone‘s taste is a little bit different! For me personally the JVM is „my“ sound. What did the trick for me was to keep depth and presence quite low (9 o‘clock) on OD2 Orange to let the mids stand out more. Otherwise it can sound a little harsh and scooped. Most people seem to actually prefer OD1 while I don‘t like that channel at all (too dark and compressed). As I said before - tastes are different, and that‘s a good thing!

    V30's are the wrong speakers for this amp. I have a ton of amps and this amp sat on the shelf for a long time. Then I swapped the to V30s I have in my 1960a with CreamBacks which are now in a X pattern with G-12 75s and bam! With the right pedals and the right speakers this amp is the best one I own and gets me thru all the songs in my set which require a ton of different sounds.

  • @tj1486
    @tj1486 Год назад

    Really glad you did this review. I wanted a Marshall but I had a DSL100HR for about a day because it has an issue that once you go past about 1oclock on the gain with a boost it starts getting not only muddy, but it makes this weird thuddy sound that cuts out the first part of the notes. It's like ultra compression just biting off the attack of the note and it absolutely ruins the sound. Sounds like this has similar problems and may just be a Marshall thing in general. More of a mid gain amp only kinda brand. Darn shame because I love their sound but I need just a little more distortion.

    I upgraded from the JVM210H that I had for almost a decade to the JVM410H earlier this year after getting a couple more 3 channel amplifiers. There are a few guitars that sound just meh though it and most of the others sound really good without dialing anything differently. I only really like the Mezzabarba Trinity better than my JVM. I need to spend some more time with the Friedman BE-100 deluxe to see if it works for me better than the Marshall. I liked the Mesa Boogie Triple Crown TC-100 better than the 2 channel JVM but not the 4. How much do you like the Engl? Hopefully Skeeter didn’t ruin all of the bubble wrap.😂

    It's a great sounding amp! Classic Marshall tone! That said, it's not for Super Hi-Gain, and you proved that here. It doesn't hold up to the other amps in the room, and that's why it has to go. • @warrenmooney9422
      @warrenmooney9422 Год назад

      I have the H model and don't have much issues with noise at all. But I also have high end pickups that are shielded and high end wires and have the amp plugged into it's own circuit. Maybe that helps. I hear a lot of complaints on the noise, but just don't have those issues unless I go to channel 4 and have the gain up really high.

  • @TheCyberMantis
    @TheCyberMantis 2 года назад +2

    Considering all the other amps you own, you really do not need the JVM. What good is having 4 channels, if you only need clean and heavy. The JVM is also not the best built amp out there. ( Some cheap parts inside that box. ) As I have said many times before, the secret to any Marshall amp is to hit the front of it with a Boss SD-1. Roll the gain back on the amp, and use the SD-1 to drive it. Gain should probably be around two O`clock on the amp. ( Orange channel of OD2. ) This amp will get you Judas Priest "Painkiller" tones. But so will your EVH 100w el34 amp. You might as well sell the JVM.

    Right off from the cuff.. Have you been reading my mind! Yes yes it does metal. Got mine midsummer this year, has a lot of great metal tones in here. To put some edge on it dial back the treble a bit and add more presence. . Most of the 410 modes or options I wouldn't use that's why I got the 205 . I swear 50 watt Marshall's have more snarl. Also the best pedal I ever boosted a marshall with is the ol boss sd1 really works well with a marshall but for what your lookin for I think a evh el34 would work better or believe it or not the friedman Runt 50 is amazing and has great clarity with a boost your definitely doing metal .

I just went through a bunch of celestion examples. shocked from all the different choices, watts, ohms, magnet size, shape and type and cone materials... everything comes into play when paired with different amps.
