Yes. Unfortunately it took a century for people to figure out everything painted needs to be primed or moisture will get in the wood and try to come out when heated in the sun, or unprimed wood is welcoming for wood eating insects and bacteria.

It’s beautiful and thoughtful work. I’d say a couple things about modern building though. Sometimes we are just reinventing the wheel. Rain screens have been around for 200 years or better in America. Some of the oldest siding removed from historical structures had simple furring strips behind them so the siding stood off of the walls. There was zero rot because both siding and furring strips could dry out. There were no bug screens and there were no bug infestations. It was closed off top and bottom because the wood only needed space to dry out. The other thing about modern installation is all the gapping. It just looks like veneers are superficial being applied and not integrated. Real wood products can be butt tight and caulked and there is a homogenous look to an exterior.

You ain't no miiiind readuh G!
But that is a nice looking job you've done there... it's clean, plumb, consistent... It's almost like you know what you're doing! 😝
All jokes aside though, I have used my own variation of that "home made multi strip ripping tool" before, although it was admittedly using different types of material.
That's the sort of thing that sometimes you'll get criticism for the time it takes to set it up, but the same people are later blown away by how quickly and precisely you were able to finish it.
It's just like looking at a job and running all the steps through your head before you start lifting a tool...
You can anticipate barriers and obstacles before you ever encounter them, which means you can save countless hours & wasted materials, just by taking that extra 20 - 30 minutes before "starting." The same 20 - 30 minutes that impatient people who don't understand the process will call, "time-wasting."
Seeing the precision that you put into your jobs, convinces me that you also take those very important preliminary steps.

I used a similar product a few years ago from Mortairvent (Advanced Building Systems) and they suggested using the whole rolls for the best results. Also, so that when you're attaching the siding you don't have more compression where you don't have the strips compared to where you do, which could cause the visually appearance of wavy siding. I don't believe you could use the strip approach if you were using installing a reservoir cladding either. Will keep my eyes our for the other video.

The system is now ventilated, it doesn't breathe because that is a controlled process, ventilation is passive.

Uhhhh, it most definitely is. I had the main head honchos of the south eastern region from Huber come by my job site (this exact one) and sign off on this install and love the work I’m doing with their products. So, I’m good there chief

Just can’t use ZIP sheathing and tape in the northern states. (They don’t hold warranty because the bonding of the tape fails over a few years of winter).

@w.k.d.constructionllc uhhhh yes. I remodel in a rainforest. The only products that holds up are old-school felt and flashing done properly. And it's not just me saying that. It's every local carpenter in my region that has any sort of good reputation.
