Why is Air & Water sealing IMPORTANT on new construction
Просмотров 589Месяц назад
This is a very IMPORTANT step in building an energy efficient and weather resistant home. It takes very little time and not at a great cost either. Sealing this critical joint between the framing and the concrete slab foundation is a necessity. If you are a builder and this is not common practice on your projects....Make it be! The Poolhouse / Complete walkthrough of this stunning project

I would like to thank the Dedmon's (Roy & Dee) for allowing me the opportunity to work on this project. This turned out absolutely stunning. I did not anticipate the work that we put into this project, as neither did my clients. The structure was in really bad shape... way worse than we thought. It took probably 6 months just to get the structure back to a sound state. There were a lot of thing...

Why does my HVAC system need "FRESH AIR" in a foam insulated house
U suk
I skip the saw and just use the dremel with carving disc
You will never see that on a subdivision tract home
Right! 🤙🏻
What are you venting with single wall metal pipe thats open to rain?
Septic system
@w.k.d.constructionllc so the interior pipe just gonna rust out like any metal septic pipe but it's the new fad...? How is this innovation pipe Jack's with rubber boots work at any angle and are easily replaced if they fail. This will be a proprietary blah blah back ordered mess to repair.
Beautiful
Thank you
Great job COACH!!!!!👍👍
Appreciate it!
At least he useing the roller so many dont
Have to!
Yall are awesome

What benefit do those plastic biscuits offer over the traditional wood ones? Seems like the wood glue would not adhere to them.
They are a mechanical fastner, not just plastic biscuits.
Why Hilti over Milwaukee.
As a bio hazard remediation contractor. Thank you 🙏🏿 for the PSA. I cannot tell you how many damn times I have stabbed my head or started bleeding from it while in a goddamn Attic removing mold lol.
😉
They call this man Big Bev aka Big Bevel. "DONT FORGETCHA BEVV!!! NEVA NEVA NEVA"
Scribing is quicker, neater and the only way to do internal mitres. As for your coping saw and dremel 😂 keep them, I will do 5 scribes by the time you have one done and there won’t be any nasty gaps like the one in your demo 😂
Our code inspectors will fail it if nails are not hitting rafters.
As they should
Does that tray have the slope built in? Or is that the next step with the dry pack?
This is a sloped tray, which all Schluter trays are…I believe. Only time you need dry pack is when the tray is too small for the size of shower.
Ok, couple questions, and i apologize in advance if it's been covered in other videos. What are you cutting it with? We usually use chop saws and gang cut. I'm wondering about the "grain" and if it frays when cut and possibly peeling off. And 2, do you feel like that "grain" will last s long time? I know it's not being exposed to direct sunlight and UV rays for the most part, just curious about how you feel about the longevity of perceived longevity.
It’s all good! I’m using a standard 60 tooth Diablo blade in chop saw. It cuts really smooth, no frays. I just don’t rush the cut. I have not had it even attempt to peel off. They have very rigorous testing on the film. They do accelerated weather scenarios. The company has been out for 20 years or something in Canada. Just now hitting the residential market here in the states. It has hella UV protectants for fading. This is a solid product and looks amazing. The wall cladding I’m sure would fade over time, but the soffit should hold up very well long term. I will probably be using their columns too for my front porch. That will be a test for UV exposure.
@@w.k.d.constructionllc sweet! It does look incredible. It's already made the rounds in our little company and will surely be on the product display in the new office! Appreciate the time Coach!
@@mpenrod definitely! Thanks for watching
This fool gets paid by the hour for mediocrity
🙄
Good job 👏
Thank you! Cheers!
Niche bottom gets tiled first if you want to be correct
Not necessarily
Beautiful!
Thank you!
I suppose that subfloor was perfectly level already. I see a lot of guys do self leveling cement on pan subfloors 😊
Yup, it was. I built the house…so, it’s done right
Overkill to defend why you cost more
🙄 don’t be a cheapskate
These guys proly charge the most.
I’m not cheap
If they make them for metal roofs, and in a way that makes up for dinglebob thornton having run the vent off-center through a ridge, let me know and I'll buy ten 😂
Haha, I hear ya. If I I install a standing seam I don’t drill any penetrations until the panels are installed so that doesn’t happen.
Those leak bad try Wedi next timen
You sure bout dat’? Must be an operator error on your part.
@@w.k.d.constructionllc😂😂😂
@@w.k.d.constructionllc seems like a funny reply to homeowners who don’t know any better. I know you feel hurt because you have probably done a lot of these schluter systems and couldn’t handle the thought of those leaking as it will kill you in warranty repairs. I have never used it just because Wedi is the superior product the fact the it’s more expensive speaks for itself. Also I will never used because of the countless videos on RUclips’s of schluter system fails. And lastly one of my customers works for an insurance company who goes out and to Homes and reviews the claims before approval. In her practice the majority of new shower leaks are from schluter systems. All I did was suggest a better option no need to get butt hurt there buddy.
@@JOA_Trades_ not butt hurt at all, if they are leaking it’s because of operator error as I said previously. Any shower system can leak if it’s installed improperly. Try again Bob Vila

Love the ease of the idea of this kit, but not loving the price. I looked it up immediately. Ouch.
Pay for peace of mind.
Coping saw and a dremel? Ok
Yup
That's a Marshalltown bucket scoop.

Ugly Shower.. Client is a Moron
wow

Why zip a roof seems like an unnecessary expense
Never unnecessary! This is the only option I go with on every single project I build
Your top edges didn't match and now I wanna throw up!
🙄 it gets covered with roof trim.
@@w.k.d.constructionllc I know I was just playing lol
lol what a joke u almost had us😂😂
🙄
Wow new houses are such junk.
Sure buddy, hit the bong again
Get away from the pork chop end and start doing proper eave returns. 👍
M Kay….🙄
@@w.k.d.constructionllc yeah, they look like shit. M Kay.
Next time put a little caulk in the corner before you push it flush.. finishing will be easier.
Lol unless ur the concrete guy keep building have them come back its why most yall r broke going over n beyond for nothing in return its called rough framing for a reason
it’s called framing…nothing supposed to be rough about it. I’m sure you say “looks good from my house” all the time!?
Great job COACH!!!!!!’n🫡
🤌🏻
thanks coach
Thanks for watching
Damn, you must run about 32’ per 8hour day?
🙄
Good job 👏
Thank you very much!
White trim on the ceiling and floors do not match.
What…
Reference lines like that are essential to make sure you're straight when you get to the top. We'll run one around the entire house before we start siding with the transit so we have a reference around the entire building and then do just as you did in special situations. Gotta take pride in all you do! 🤘🤘🤘
Yessir! Exactly
What type of screws are those
Exterior deck screws
Those folds look like dog shit. Find a new guy to do them.
Why not use tape to flash thebottom & edges?
I prefer liquid flash. It’s more durable IMO
@@w.k.d.constructionllc okay I didn't know that. I'm a contractor in San Diego definitely a believer in doing it right 👍
Well done and said. Got it coach!
Appreciated!
A custom home and you can't do better than this
