Gorillaz are an English virtual band created in 1998 by musician Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett. The band primarily consists of four animated members: 2-D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle, and Russel Hobbs. Their fictional universe is presented in music videos, interviews and short cartoons. In reality, Albarn is the only permanent musical contributor, and Gorillaz' music often features collaborations with a wide range of featured artists like Snoop Dog, Elton John, and Beck. You need to check out their songs "Dirty Harry", "Melancholy Hill", "Saturn Bars", "Dare", "Stobelight", "Aeris", "Desole",...pretty much every Gorillaz song out there.
Damon Albarn's first album with Blur titled Leisure was his best until Gorillaz, but Blur's few hits came later: Boys & Girls, Parklife, Song 2. Having seen both bands live, he's come a long way since his earliest performances.
Also check out the vid for Stylo that features Bruce Willis and the vocal guests are Mos Def and the great Bobby Womack. He went on to make at least one more solo albums before he sadly passed.
Jay, I know you reacted to "Feel Good, Inc" when you you first started you channel. You should react to this song again with Amber. I would love to see her reaction. If I remember correctly you had just started the channel and you were not digging the song. I bet if you were to watch it again, I bet you would like it a whole lot more.
Arguably the most experimental band of the last 20 years! And they are a full-fledged Band as they do play live and aren’t ‘studio-only’.. last time I saw them they literally had 1/2 of the Clash (yes, THE the Clash) on Stage, DeLaSoul, Bobby Womack and Little Dragon, along with Albarn, and it all flows perfectly! Not to mention the amazing artwork of Jamie Hewlett on the animation and illustration side… it’s an insane experiment that somehow worked out and is still goin super strong 20 years later.
The rappers in "Feel Good Inc." are the group De La Sol, and as many have already said, the rapper in this song Del the Funky Homosapien. Other guest singers have include Nena Cherry, Bobby Womack, Lou Reed, and Snoop Dog. The live shows are fascinating as they bring out one great singer after another.
They are a cartoon band. Their lead singer is actually Damon Albarn of the real life band Blur. Try a tune called "Song 2" from them. As for the cartoon band, they did have several hits, a couple more are "Dare" and "Soulchild".
That's Del the Funky Homosapien rapping the verses. He's one of the rotating cast of musicians that contributes to the project, and a fantastic rapper in his own right. Check out his track "Mistadobalina" for more.
Glad you finally got back to Gorillaz! :) I really hope you dive into this rabbit hole. They have some bangers. PLEASE do "Stylo", which may just be the coolest video ever made. "Dare" is fantastically upbeat and will get you moving. "Hollywood" (feat. Snoop Dogg!) is also amazing. You never see the actual band, only the four animated characters.
Every time I listen to them my brain is trying to figure out why I like it so much. It's just fricking crazy. I went crazy one day and just sat there looking up their videos for hours. Yes I must be a fan.
The Gorillaz frequently bring in guest rappers on their songs. Their songs "DARE", "19-2000", and "Saturnz Bars (Spirit House)" are some of my favorites.

The Gorillaz is basically two guys. One of them does the music and was the singer of a 90s band called blur. The other does all the artwork and videos. Most of the videos are linked together and tell the story of the four band members. I recommend you react to "Stylo" and "on melancholy Hill" back-to-back. Completely different songs and artwork.
Hey Amber , a few for female fridays. KD Lang,Taylor Dane ,Jody Wattley,Wynonna Judd,Dione Warlick,Laura Branagin ,Kim Carnes ,as you tell i love female vocalist. Keep rocking it!
The opening vocal is their version of a vocal from the movie The Good, The Bad ,and The Ugly. Which was one of the spaghetti westerns starring Clint Eastwood.
@@chriso6719 oh yeah it's a classic. Lee Van Cleef? Forget about it. Actually I think we are close enough to the same age, do you remember "The Master" with Van Cleef when we were kids? Like Knight Rider it is probably cheesy as hell but I couldn't get enough when I was a kid.

Fun Fact. The rapper (Del the Funky Homosapien) didn't even want to do the song. They brought him in because the artist who drew it drew the Tank Girl Comics and Del's a super fan.. But when he read the original lyrics he was like "this isn't my thing. I'm gonna pass!" But Damon Albarn stopped him and said "Wanna write something else?" and Del just kinda riffed with him and he said "The song grew on me the more we worked on it."
I love this song, this is one of the few songs with Rap in it that I actually know all the words to and will sing/rap along with, cause ya know I'm a metal guy, but I love this song and always have!

They are a "virtual band" which features all kinds of guest artists- their latest album Song Machine has an amazing track with Elton John and 6lack called "The Pink Phantom!" So many great Gorillaz masterpieces!

Watching this back, i just realized they probably named this song "Clint Eastwood'" because of the opening notes of the song/those cool vocalizations. They sound a lot like an Ennio Morricone score riff, and Morricone did the movie scores for a bunch of Spaghetti westerns Eastwood probably starred in. It took me like 6 years to register that holy shit.

I can't say for certain, but this song always hit me as what it's like when doing drugs. The singer "ain't happy," but they have "sunshine in a bag." Then you get the rap section which is about how impressive and cool they suddenly are (cool like Clint Eastwood). But none of the coolness and awesome feelings they have are real. "It's all in your head."

Probably, but it always makes me think of the episode of Golden Girls where Blanche was sleep-deprived and she saw a ziploc with egg yolks in it and drunkenly declared it "little balls of sunshine in a bag" lol.
Gorillaz is legit...an amazing group. Thanks for the reaction. You guys gotta do some techno reacts, starting with the chemical Brothers..."hey boys, hey girls"

The cool thing about the Gorillaz is that since they are not a "real" band, they're not stuck with one style. Everybody in the band has a "day job" with another band so they can cut loose and do weird and experimental stuff in Gorillaz. Also they run the gambit with their collaborators. You've got new or niche acts like SchoolBoy Q and Slowthai, deep cuts from Brit rock/pop like Leee John and Peter Hook to big names like Del the Phunky Homosapien/Deltron, Beck, Robert Smith, De La Soul (Feel Good Inc), Elton John, and Dennis Hopper. Because most of the contributors are not available for touring, their positions are usually filled by whoever they can get.
