I work on these machines in Australia, this model is about as accurate as they come it's crazy real. Even the calibration are done like this on a laptop. Awesome detail I reckon

The red barrels are the fire suppression system foam .
Took me 11 hours and I'm an experienced builder, the kit was mentally amazing to build fun in all steps. But, as all Lego collectors can attest to, the bigger the kit, the worse condition your thumbs get

I loved the build too. Why doesn't Lego include minifigs with these expensive kits???
@@danbell1350 it's technic and meant to be mostly functional, and usually uses different pieces from the typical brick system, and even then minifigures wouldn't make sense in technic.
So those red barrels are actually fire extinguishers because mining machines have to a system which is called a fire a suppression system. If the engine catches on fire those barrels will put the liquid into the engine bay and extinguish the fire
The set took probably 12-14 hours to complete but it is much more challenging than, for example, the Star Destroyer I built recently. Take extra care of following the steps - there are so many moving parts and deep connections that one mess-up and you are looking at hours of getting back to the problem. Still very satisfying to finish and play with!

It would be cool - but inpossible - if LEGO could build the Liebherr LR 13000 (largest crawler crane in the world). I know someone made a pretty decent MOC, but it still isnt to proportions.

Absolutely !! One of the only things keeping me sane during lockdown now. Buy one .. it doesn't disappoint.

Legos ARE NOT just for children. Some are wayyyy out of a child’s range of building, example this set.
Yeah ... I have a son just 5 years old and have a ton of 'adult' Lego I buy 'for him when he gets older'. He keeps asking when I will build some of the stuff 'for him' so I am obliged to build one from time to time ;-o) This one is definitely on my list!

Just got bought this as surprise from all the people who came to my 50th birthday this weekend. Can't wait to get into this! I like the idea of the app but my only concern is preservation. Will anyone be able to control this set in 50 years time?
You probably can, like you can still buy vinyl players or on Win 10 you can play DOS games, because they develop softwares which make compatible with older games for our modern system.
How do you change the battery, is it easy?

I am not sure if it is the biggest Lego technic 🤔.I have the 42055 Bucket wheel excavator , it s a massive Lego ,72 cm long and a mine truck which is included in the set , 19 cm long.
The Liebherr is larger by piece count.
I hate that lego doesn't let you have the option of using physical remote controls for it
If you can program a bit it's very possible to use Python to control the hubs. So you can connect a Xbox controller to a laptop and control it like that.

I built this LEGO set but the crane arm does not move up when I move the toggle on the APP. However, when I do the test check, the crane arm was able to move up and down smoothly. I do not think it is because I've built it incorrectly. Therefore, if anyone knows what went wrong, please let me know so that I start playing with it! Thank you!
Remove the app and install it again. If that doesn’t work contact Lego customerservice.

Does that mean that it's finally possible to connect multiple hubs to one app? Does that also work with the generic power functions app that allows free programming Independent of the actual model? That would be a game changer, e.g., for GBC and would finally allow us to make real use of the new system.

Those are called "linear actuators" not "pistons." Linear actuators have gearing; pistons use air. It's like saying "basketball" when you mean "football" (which we all know is properly referred to as "soccer.").
Strange this came up in my recommend. I just bought it, but not to build this. Someone used this set to make Johny5 from short circuit and I will be making it.

can you make anything else out of this kit?
Anyone else having problems with gears skiping and crackling when calibrating? I can already see some wear on the gears after calibrating it and trying to diagnose the problem.

I really like this set, the problem is the price. 7 motors are just too many, they could have easily used 4 motors with one of them controlling a gearbox like with the 8043 and the other three motors "doing the work".
Complexity is the enemy of efficiency. Gears and shafts induce friction, through which some of the power from the corresponding motor is lost. Part of why the 8043 wasn't very powerful. It's not demonstrated in this review, but the 42100 is extremely powerful, in part because each function has its own motor, and no more gears and shafts than it needs. Also, the function switching approach would make for a lot more wear on the motors not responsible for switching functions, as demonstrated by the Cat D11 model.

It's impressive, and accurate to the real machine, but it is pretty much just a white box with cool treads and arm. I'd rather have one of those mobile cranes. Just a bit more interesting to look at.

you could download the APK and save it on your google drive, google isn't ever going anywhere
For that reason i don't use app, i am building a remote control for kits like this on my own. For that reason i replace the original Controller of an RC Transmitter and eplaces it with an BLE Microcontroller, that i haved programmed accordingly.

Curious... it says recommended to build 12 yeas and up.The Bugatti was recommended 16 and up. Wonder why the difference.
I own both models you speak of and while I think the Liebherr is an excellent model in its own right, the Bugatti just kills it in mechanical aspects. The Bugatti has 500 less parts than the Liebherr but still offers limited slip differentials, W-16 engine with functional pistons, all-wheel drive, steering, paddle shifters, and stick shift. Add to that the building experience with chassis "marriage" with the Bugatti. The Liebherr offers gearing that connects to motors and quite frankly is not that complex. With the Liebherr you also get new linear actuators as well but again the gearing is just not as complex and for complexity I would even place the rough terrain crane over the Leibherr. I'm not a fan boy for any one of these over the other and I enjoyed building all three, but the Liebherr is just not as mechanically complex as the Bugatti - at least in my opinion. One other thought, the Liebherr has 100 extra pieces that are just "dirt" so the actual model construction itself is actually 48 pieces less than the rough terrain crane. Not a big deal but I think purchasers need to be aware of that fact - kind of like when Lego gives you a piece count of let's say 1,001 but the "1" is a brick separator. Bottom line I guess it's what you're more interested in - the power functions or more of a classic Technic with more of a mechanical engineering focus. The Lieberherr I think balances the two well.

Hi, connection process with app is not only connecting the hubs.
After connected (blue light) App got information about "connection profile", that means App checks if the right motors (types) are connected at the expected ports. In case that you never se a blue steady light it is a Bluetooth connection problem, in all other cases it is about a problem of ports, motor and cabling.
Check all electrical connections , status of batteries ...
It would be a good adwise to step back to the manuel where the hub connections where hecked one by one.

MOC it with Lego pneumatics. Yeah, it'd take some work...but i'm pretty sure you could do it. It would still use motors to actuate the pneumatic valves. So the RF control would work...for that matter, so would the Bluetooth hubs...possibly even the Buwizz, though i've yet to use it. you might even have to mod your MOC even further to accommodate the air tank(s). BUT!!, that's the whole purpose of Lego Technic...Get creative with it! and enjoy.
Why doesn't this model look like the real one? It's got a reversed bucket and the actuators are not in the correct position.

R9800 is available as both a mass excavator and a front shovel. The R9800 used in their promotions is configured as an excavator while the Lego model is a front shovel. The shovel isn't reversed.
@@Motologist95 would be cool if you could build it in both configurations and I hope you can configure the the controls to your liking as the boom is going down when it should be going up!
@@martinblanch5828 the controls are actually work exactly the same way as the controls on the real one. Back (down) on the right stick is boom up.
