Fun fact, I actually worked on a real one changing out a leaking pump gearbox seal.
I dropped a spanner removing the engine and it took a few seconds of bouncing off things before it hit the ground.
It's a long walk down the stairs from up there 🙂
it's like a 10mm socket going into the engine.
This took me a while to build, but the overall mechanics of it are fascinating and totally worth the time. Unlike my other legos, it sometimes comes off the shelf to get used which is impressive honestly

I built this over Christmas last year, it's an amazing kit! Took me about 15 hours . . . I've got the Chiron to do next!
The biggest problem with this set is that it depends on an app on your smartphone. In a few years, Lego will stop supporting that app and then the powerfunctions stop working.
Who cares. Play while it last. Silly comment, but will pretend its true.
The app will still be there. It just won’t be getting updated or anything

Don't worry every problem worth solving will be solved eventually. I guess is someone will make a program to talk to it if the app goes down

I missed out on the bucket wheel excavator, but really glad I snapped this one up off the Lego site before they retired it. Looking forward to building this BEAST!

I do hope LEGO makes a mini version of the Liebherr R9800 and the Bucketwheel Excavator like they did with CLAAS Xerion when they released the Mini CLAAS Xerion

I love lego just yesterday I finished putting together Porsche 911SRS (42096) along with lights, next week is time to make it mobile with electric motors and IR receivers. Question, how do you guys build your lego. Sitting by the table or on the floor, me personally prefer floor. Btw this set is sick and it will be my next project

Oh, I am sorely tempted to get this. I just don't have the room for it. I'd have to take apart my 42009, at least.
How long was the build (42009 was 12 hours for me, across 4 days)? It looks like the hoses are just for authenticity, not actual pneumatics. What does it sound like while operating it? Is there a mod for the bucket to scoop like a proper backhoe?
And, can it do a 3 pass load in 61 seconds?

Are the motors battery opperated if so what batterys and how many as i cant see abattery box
Can't be sure but I think the control + stuff has some form of rechargeable battery module
Two battery boxes 6 AA batteries each.

Are there people out there that build these for folks that don't have the time (skill) to build it?
It comes with step by step instructions. You just have to be good at following them. Time wise, devote about 30-60 minutes a day and you should be able to do it in a couple of weeks.

My question is what happens ten or fifteen years from now when the software is no longer compatible with current phones?
For example, Mindstorms 2.0 software that came with the big yellow programmable brick fifteen years ago is not compatible with Windows 10.
