New player here, been on argent dawn around a week, but I’m off work sick so been on a tonne. One thing I’ve noticed is there is a lot of mean people in this game, people make 1 mistake and are berated or kicked, I learned the dungeons and raid first from videos so didn’t have too many issues after my 1st time, but people don’t like accepting new players or low mythic score players so it’s hard to get started. I always try to help people and when people make mistakes I just say all good and move on, the toxicity sometimes is crazzyyyyy

If you find a guild and explain you're new they'll usually help you out.
The toxicity almost always comes from PUGs (a group of all random players) because most of these players are veterans and don't like their time being wasted.

Together with a friend of mine from highschool, from back in the days, we decided to try this expansion. So we bought it. Prior to that, we played Wotlk Classic. The Dragonflight experience was fresh for sure, with lots of things to explore and many features to try. The classes felt smooth and the whole system new and efficiant in a way. We had a good time exploring, dueling with each other and chatting on discord while playing. We both hit max level and then quit. We kinda lingered around for a bit after, but slowly we quit and tried other expansions much more dear to us like Vanilla, Wotlk, Vanilla Hardcore.
For me, the things that made me quit so soon are: the graphics feels like Fortnite which is not a compliment; you will understand literally nothing from the story as you level up since they force you to play through another expansion long gone which is BFA and they don't even connect the dots, I was doing quests in chaotic order; the most exciting part, the open world pvp is tottally gone. We did not encounter not a single player from the other faction that had pvp toggled on while doing quests; the game feels so robotic and empty, proof that content alone will never compensate feelings, depth, quality. We were doing dungeons by just using the system that it teleport you there and groups you automatically with others and we rarely spoke to others. Everyone was just grinding mechanically. At some point I thought they were bots, but sometimes they will say "bye" when the dungeon would end. The completely unbalanced classes is again a thing that I dislike but at least they are adressing this issue every patch. The most important thing that made me quit is the fact that once you hit max level you will spend most of the time in Dragon Isles which is such a small area of the entire map, but that's it, that will be your permanent home from where you will click a button from the interface to teleport you to dungeons or bg's. Everything is SO mechanic and without soul that will make you feel depressed after a while and you will go back to previous expansions when wow felt right. I really gave Dragonflight a big chance but it is just not for me, maybe I will give it another chance in the future because I have other friends that are still playing, it is just that it feels soooo far away from what wow was/is for me, like even the story is circus now. Retail to me is just another mmo that is barely a shadow of what wow truly represented. Maybe if you are a new wow player you will totaly like it because you have no term of comparison. I want to say one more thing, I appreciate the video and the excitement of the author and you should give this expansion a try if you really feel like it, especially if you have at least a friend to play with. I was just trying to share my experience.
    Peace! ✌️

I find doing faction assaults to be a good way to get some XP, but they were really hard to finish because you had to fight one of those mini boss people who had waaay more hit points than me at lower levels and hit way too hard. Has that changed or is it still impossible to solo one in a timely manner?

I have been following wow and played since i was a kid with starter edition, warcraft 3, public test, etc. And now i can afford to buy it im really happy, but i have some doubts. First about the buying stuff, do i have to buy the last expansion and the classic besides from the monthly payment? I have never understood how it works.
And the other question is, since you start the game different from where you used to start years ago, are you able to still do storyline important quest, such as wotlk, legion, bfa? Because it is kinda weird for a newplayer storywise to start on tha last expansion zone, but at the same time it has its advantages.
By the way great guide to start up!!

Never played retail, just stick to classic since tbc, mostly because it bothers me to pay for sub n expansions.
If i buy Dragonflight will i need to buy the war within?
About class reccomendation,i mainly played Paladin,Hunter n Shaman, even tho is an easy game, which one among these is the hardest?
With the next expansion the gameplay will be vertical again or they understood that horizonal is the way?

Hey, first video I watched, interesting. I have been playing wow for many years now and I like to see what people are telling new players. I was glad to see the edit mode shown and the auto loot. I liked that you did not focus heavily on dungeons, raids and pvp. I do not do those features as there is a lot of content that can be done without them. I think some of the content creators out there scare off casual players - which are needed for subs and to keep the lights on. Most casual players don’t have the time for a lot of what they talk about.
End of day this is a game and played for entertainment.

Very true, i watched alot of guides to get an idea of what to do if/when i get wow, and alot of guides are incredibly confusing for somone who hasnt played the game before, and doesnt really make the game appealing at all i felt. I decided to give it a go anyway and have been playing for 2 weeks now, and find myself being confused as to what to do next every day i log on. Pretty much all i do is weekly quests and random old raids trying to get some cool mogs/mounts, but getting to the raids have been quite the journey itself lol. (trying to find videos or wiki info on how to get to them)
Havent watched the vid yet, but will now and hope i can get some cool tips and tricks :)

So I've decided to jump back in. Only thing is; I don't know what class/spec to play and would like some help. I'm a returning player and will mostly be playing solo or pug for groups. I enjoy raiding and dungeon, but play quite casually (if I complete raids on normal difficulty, or if i'm lucky - heroic, I'll be happy). So I need something that will work for solo world content but not have a problem getting invited into groups. But most importantly - it needs to be something fun! I mainly played DPS before, and here are some specs I've enjoyed in past expansions, hopefully someone can give some tips on what to play based on them:
WotLK Shadow Priest - I loved this thing. It wasn't amazing for numbers or flashy to look at, but it was sooo smooooth! I loved playing this thing in raids, such a chill playstyle and allowed me to shut off my brain from the rotation and pay full attention to what's going on in the fight instead. I really enjoyed disc and holy too as off-specs, but since healing seems so demanding in this expansion I think I'm gonna give that role a pass (at least for now).
WoD Fury Warrior - Played this at the beginning of WoD. Started playing again at the end of MoP, just before WoD released as Arms, but did not like that at all at the time, so swapped to Fury instead for WoD. Was fun for a time, but it was quite button-mashy so I grew a bit tired of it after a while.
WoD Frost Mage - After a smaller break a friend brought me back in, and this time I jumped on Frost Mage, and boy was it a fun spec! Super nice playstyle and mage have tricks and tools to get out of any sticky situation. Also tried Fire. I was a bit undergeared, so didn't have the best performance, but sometimes I would hit a crit-streak and holy crap it felt rewarding. It seems mage haven't changed too much since WoD (correct me if I'm wrong), so this would probably be a safe pick for me, but I would like to try something new. So I'll probably go with something else and have the Fire or Frost Mage as a backup if I don't like the first character.
Legion Balance Druid - A fun but quite button heavy spec. This felt really nice when the stars aligned (pun not intended) and your rotation lined up perfectly with the fight, but the amount of spells you had to rotate on a regular basis made it feel a bit hectic in some situations.
End of BFA/Start of Shadowlands Retribution Paladin - Most recent character I've played. Stopped playing a couple weeks into Shadowlands. I liked the spec, but it didn't feel super special to me, and was quite proc-heavy where periods of no procs felt really slow and if you got a bunch of procs with a bit of odd timing it felt a bit clumsy.
Some other information: I've never played a Rogue, no idea if I would like them. I've tested Windwalker Monk at some point around WoD/Legion and it felt kind of meh. Elemental and Enhancement Shaman around the same period of time felt better, but lacked the extra "oumph" for it to feel really nice (although I didn't gear it that much). Sorry for the wall of text :S. I appreciate any suggestions people might have.

I took a break from GW2 and tried WoW, had a blast until I hit level 60, all of a sudden I cannot progress with story pre-dragonflight, forced to jump into the latest expansion, got lost in story, found out that they are trying to copy GW2 skyscale& griffon mounts mechanics but in a very horrible way, found out that all the crafting and gathering hours are all for nothing, ended up quitting, honestly the game is so not new player friendly, up until the latest expansion is just a huge waste of time. I was having so much fun playing Alliance BFA, until level 60 that is, then everything changed suddenly and not in a good way.

They’ve changed the leveling in this game so so much over the years. I kinda miss the old ways of leveling through so many different zones, expansions and maps. My husband just started playing and I am back after a 2 year break. I’ve been so confused trying to help him level..having to watch guides again to see the best way. I’m kinda confused on why they jump you straight to BFA and skip over all other expansions.

    • @ErosiumTV
      @ErosiumTV  4 месяца назад +1

Hey Hannah, totally see your point and I agree actually, its definitely a huge game now. The reason they make new players go through BFA is because it's the expansion that is most up to date in terms of "Time" before Dragonflight, and then onto where the next game will take place. Shadowlands almost existed outside of time so they don't include that as the primary way of leveling 10-60 :)
