Still play SWTOR, but mostly for the story and other solo content. Used to raid a bit, but nowadays I often dont have time or even mood. In my opinion, SWTOR is primarily "single" player story RPG, wrapped in MMO. I think that if somebody is big Star Wars fan, they should definitely try it. In many aspects its something of a copy of WoW, (combat for example, classes/specs) so if you played WoW, you should feel like at home. Also many players like to joke that apart from stories, fashion is the true content, to which I must say, I never had so much fun just collecting outfits, and dressing up my characters, in any other game, because you can see your fancy outfits in story cutscenes, where you character stands and moves in various poses, makes expressions, fights...
Group content like raiding is still quite decent and there are active raiding guilds, and its often no problem to find people spamming LFG, and PvP is also pretty fun

      @Raziel03 2 месяца назад +1

True. Sadly I havent played SWTOR in a long time now, but I played the shit out of the game in 2022. The story especially the eternal throne storyline hooked me. Then this combined with the aspect of dressing up my character, and walking around in "lobby" seeing other peoples cool characters, was pure enjoyment. Sadly the repetitive combat, and yeah.. the new expansion kinda made me quit for now. But this game will definitely always be in my heart lol

I've played Guild Wars 2 since its release at twelve years old. If any of you are looking for not just very involved gameplay, lemme say this now. There is a huge and thriving roleplay community there too. Yes, I actually said *roleplay*. I'm a part of it on the NA side. There's just as large a community on the EU side. And if you're looking for a vet's experience of the game itself, like I said, I was 12 when I started in Guild Wars 2. I'm 23 now and I still love it. That should say some stuff. Glad to see GW2 on the list. As someone who's played since 2 weeks after launch and with over 30k hours invested, it has held my attention for over 10 years now. I tried BnS, Archage, and a few others, but I always come back to GW2, in large part because there's no sub fee, and once you buy the expansions, you have the content permanently unlocked. Not to mention, there is no traditional questing like "Do A to get to B" type situation that many games have, and this game promotes exploration and makes it fun.

MMOs must strive to cater for casual gamers, and that is the success formula. Casual and hardcore content that progress as far as they can go. BDO seasons will be why it goes up and down, for casual players tend to only level during seasons. Lost Ark lost players due to the high-level raids, and hence players would pay gold to other players to finish raids. WOW will be king for they made sure to add different types of raids and different types of gear, so casuals can simply do an LFG and access new zones.

I love, especially, to use UI addons that lets me remove most of the UI with a toggle, so I can run around the game in first person like I did with Skyrim.

If I knew it was different I would probably load the game today and restart my account. Other than that I'm enjoying the heck out of swtor.

EVE Online is the kind of game for those who want more work when they get home from work, lol. It has so much math to do in order to build your ships. And mechanics---cant put 2 batteries because it will overheat, but I need 3 for the 2 shield modules and each one spends 12 gallons of fuel so I need to fit a cargo module but there is no more space because the ship is going to overheat and the shields won't work, lol.
BDO - I play because of its awesome graphics, skins, and chars' customizations. Oh, and it has ships, islands, you can have a guild sea-based, etc. Downside? Players can kill you just for fun outside safe zones (cities and villages) I get killed even when I am working on my farms or gathering meat or milk from cows. No add-ons allowed.
ESO - I play because of the DGs, Raids, World Bosses, and there is no open PVP. Full of awesome and productive add-ons. The house system is great. Downside: If you are like me, a lifeskiller, you WILL need to pay the subscription which I don't so I don't play much now. That's because all crafting materials go to an infinite crafting bag. Without it, there is no room to keep all crafting materials.
Final Fantasy - I tried, I really tried 4x but I just couldn't get myself to enjoy it.
    WOW - Subscription... nah, pass!
Lost Ark - As many have already mentioned, the game is dead. It might take 40 minutes or never for matchmaking for DGs, Raids, Crucible, and whatnot. They even created a new server in each Region and gave out Starter Packs with PowerPass vouchers and other gifts to help. The problem is because of a mistake, Amazon and Smilesgate deleted a lot of inactive accounts by mistake thinking they were Bots, and banned a lot of others due to the break of the rules of the game. Whale players are buying accounts in batches. One single player bought 5 accounts and so on. Downside? The wipe-out mechanics. If just ONE player makes a mistake during the mechanics (usually me and newbies) of a Boss/Raid/DGs, everybody dies, lol. Sometimes you have a group of 12 people, lmao.
Now, on console, I started playing this Tera game that I found out was discontinued on PC. It's been a month and it seems pretty decent and okay.

Just to be clear. Now the bots are a problem, but they are trying to address it. However, there is a lot of bots. I've tried BDO and I'm having a hard time getting into it only because I'm blasted with so much that I don't even know where to really start and also given a lot of stuff Idk what to do with, so its kind of just sits there.

I think OSRS has some of the best gear progression out of all of these MMO's, and the best market system.
Giving meaning to Gold and gear. It's incredibly time-consuming, taking over 360 days playtime to get to where you want to be (maxed in all skills). But this is why there's always something to do. Unlike FF14 or WoW where i feel at a loss as to what to do other than to wait for expansions.
Personally, i prefer ff14 to OSRS, i just wish MMO's really looked at why this one was so successful and adopted some of their strategies. Like monster drop rates being very important. Tax's controlling market prices and content that keeps you visiting old areas of the game. Giving you a reason to clear that boss again, and tonnes of leveling strategies. I'm trying to find a MMO that keeps you hooked in this way but i just can't seem to find it.
For example, it can cost a large amount of gold and 100 hours of investment to get 1 skill maxed on OSRS, but on FF14 you can just hand in at your GC daily and not even do the skill. Or if you dont feel like raiding you can go do slayer tasks or farm small bosses for gold or gear. FF14 i do my leveling roulette and then feel aimless. Ah no one in PF to do my raid :( or cleared the raid but nothing to take to the market board, nothing to spend the gold on other than furnishings

The ten year anniversary for SWTOR was also its funeral. I have never seen a patch screaming "ready for maintenance mode" so hard as 7.0. They turned off all the mechanics that kept the game somewhat enjoyable. As well as consolidating the classes, removing the need for making new characters. This was not a mistake, it was a planned move for the "afterlife". Making further engagement psychologically impossible. It is still doing well for a mummified husk though. Powerful brand name. Even after so much time with mediocre to bad treatment of the franchise.
