Both of my parents are gone now but as a child of the 60s we only had this option for popcorn-I still love it even today. My momma raised me strong as well- we need this generation to jump on the same bandwagon. Momma made us popcorn balls each fall-so yummy! God, Family and Friends-the best way to live💞

I messed up my money this month and I only have $20 left for the month. I have 2 granddaughters and my daughter and daughter-in-law to get gifts for. You have given me a gift for my daughters. I wont be seeing the grands until after the new year, so you took much pressure from my shoulders. Thank you!

The three of us were raised by our mother as well. She was very independent until the day she passed. She taught me so much! I am eternally grateful for her. She taught me how to make do with nothing, and I am forever grateful for her teaching me independence as a young girl. As an adult my husband and I became quite financially secure. We were able to provide for her. She became my best friend. I miss her so much!

I was a single Mom too. I raised 3 kids ( 2 boys and a girl) by myself with no child support either! I know exactly what it was like for your Mom, for You and Your Siblings! Like your Mom, I knew what my purpose was in life, which was raising my kids to be great people. I too, like your Mom, ended up with adult children who are awesome just like you! Your Mom did a phenomenal job raising you! Love this recipe and love your youtubes.

My mom taught me NOTHING……she was jealous of me….I was the cute little blonde haired girl…..I can honestly say she never even taught me to boil water. Sad but true. I LOVE your channel! I just found you this past week….early September 2024…..rant away darlin! I’m now 75, into herbs….have a garden on my deck…..lovin’ it all! I had no idea how to plant anything….or grow it….or cook it…..or preserve it…but now I’m into herbs, growing them and veggies and having a ball! Doing my thang! I adore your sense of humor…..SO like mine…..and all the things you do! You probably won’t see this since it came out 8 months ago, but I truly love you and watch every video I find of yours! My mom never taught me how to cook either. In fact, she actually sort of brags about it. The thing is, however, i learned on my own and it sounds as though you did the same. I love to cook, as a result. Just chalk up to one of those things. 😊

I and my siblings had the same type of upbringing. It makes you strong, and teaches you to be a DIYer. I’ve only recently discovered your videos but I have a great respect and admiration for the type of person you are. God Bless you. We were very poor but my mom would always give us dessert after dinner. If she could not afford to buy the 3 row pack of Oreo cookies, which back then were 15 cents a pack, she would make each of us including one for herself, these incredibly crazy shaped raisin cookies using flour, butter, an egg, sugar salt, baking powder and raisins. I learned to create cookies of my own as I grew. I even created my family favorite rice a roni, spam and cheese casserole. I read something once that I hold close to my heart. Don’t despise the small beginnings A lot of people don’t turn out so great being raised in poverty or a what may be difficult circumstances and some of turn out better than ok. I am not rich by any means but I have learned to make things work, use what I have and share what I can. You seem to be that type of person.

One thing I learned from good Eats and Alton Brown for popping corn. You can use a large metal mixing bowl and cover with foil. Stab the foil about 8-10 times to let the steam escape, then keep turning the bowl so the heat is even. The bowl shape is optimal for the popcorn to cook since as they pop the unpopped kernels slide back down to the heat at the bottom and the popped kernels rise up and away from the heat.

Jiffy Pop! I don't eat pop corn but always loved making it and especially the Jiffy Pop just because it was so fun to do. My husband makes pop corn almost every night and the only time I'll try it is when he puts Kettle corn seasoning or cinnamon & sugar seasoning on it. Mostly he puts hot seasoning on his pop corn. This looks really tasty - I'm going to try this and add some peanuts or cashews (Cracker Jack that puppy!)
I like making Chex Mix Deluxe for my family and friends, so many variations and really able to adjust the recipe to whoever I'm making it for - I like lots of cheese crackers, extra saucy, lots of peanuts, cashews, pecans with the variety of cereal, etc. but others may not like nuts or the cheese crackers. I make a "control" that has all the common ingredients, then divide that up into however many batches and start adding whatever the intended person likes...time consuming but everybody wants it each year.

I’ve always put my Carmel corn in the oven and stir it occasionally. I’ve never done it this way. Cool.

I totally understand your child upbringing. I was raised the same way but I had 3 sister and 1 brother so we were a family of 5 and my mother could only support us on welfare 😢.
And we turned out just fine 🙂 👍 👌

When popping the corn put the oil in and six kernels into the pot when half pop it’s at perfect temp to add popcorn
