    Thanks Andy for highlighting this club! The Cleveland CBX series should be in many more golfers' bags than it probably is. I have gone away from blade-style wedges over the past couple of years and really enjoy that forgiveness that Cleveland offers.

    These are great wedges - I don't know why so many golf snobs always try to find something negative to say about Cleveland products.

    Full face grooves were one of reasons I went with a Tour Edge Houdini sole 56 as opposed to the Cleveland Smart sole sand wedge 58. I don't carry as many wedges anymore either.

    CBX wedges are amazing! If you try them on a tight lie, especially in the summer when it's dried out, it still picks it clean.

    Would love to try these. Very curious on the shaft. Purchased new Smithworks this year and love the full face grooves so far.

    I’ve just switched over from Callaway Jaws to the Cleveland CBX Zipcore, standard not full face. I love the forgiveness particularly on the heavy ground courses I play locally. I agree with you Andy, the full face shape put me off and the visual on the loft angle messed with my head a little too.

    Great review...Could you do a comparison between these CBX wedges and the Mizuno S -23 wedges and give us your view point on them????

    As a high handicapped player they look perfect to me. Nice teardrop shape with full face of grooves. Looks like they are super easy to open the face up and catch the ball still and I am sure that they are cheaper than the top end wedges like Vokey ???

    Andy: When you do club reviews, toss up the spec onscreen of the one you are testing. It looks liked you had a graphite shaft in the wedge. Was it stiff or regular?
    I went to regular a few years back in my wedges and it improved my touch around the greens. Using a stiff felt like a cricket/baseball bat with no "give".
    I'd recommend this for all seniors out there. I had to order mine as you won't find an off the shelf wedge with a regular shaft.

    Full Face grooves in the Gap-Sand range are great for open-face bunker shots - this is my Get Out wedge for sand. I rarely catch the far toe with 'normal' wedge swings, and I'm not opening the face for shots I should just wedge up on.
    Feel is way better than the last gen. I've got RTX6 in the 60 and I have 0 interest playing that sole at the beach in my 54. Really wish that Mizuno had done a Full-face version of the S23, I loved hitting that wedge from the fairway but it felt messy in the dirt.

    Full face on a 52 is helpful when I chip it off the toe intentionally from the short side. I would consider getting them.

    I'm a Mizuno iron & wedge player (old S18, then T20s) - will be ordering a new S23 58. That said, my current 80% goto wedge is a T20 56/14 that I've bent to 52/10 for the C-grind to be as useful as possible around the green for pitching & chipping. I've just ordered this new Cleveland CBX2 Fullfaced 54/12 C-grind, to be bent to 52/10, with a non-upcharged heavy S400 Tour shaft. As a 52/58 player, I think it's very important to get a C-grind on your 52 to make it more useful. I'm a scratch player & I think this new CBX2 is almost a cheat code.

  • @PhiladelphiaColinsMustardTiger

    If you don’t like the look of that high toe, the standard CBX shape will suit your eye better. The toe of this club very much reminds me of the Callaway Phil Mickelson PM grind they used to run a few years ago which bares a strong resemblance to the old Ping Eye 2 LW Phil would put in the bag from time to time.

    Reading some of your replies to comments just needed to point out this isn’t a change or replacement to the cbx zipcore lineup, it’s an addition. The standard head with normal grooves is still an option so something for everyone whether you like full face or not👍🏻

    The swing is looking solid matey and the performance looks like it’s there because of the swing but the club does look, is unattractive the right word? I’m very much an aesthetic player, and have high toe wedges but not sold on the appearance if these

    Never tried a hi-toe wedge. Love the easy pick-up comments cos that what average golfers need help with. But it does look ugly. Unlike your super new golf wear which is very smart and being a 21 handicapper isn’t going to make me too average to treat myself to that snazzy gear

      @markpowell5753 Год назад

      Hi Andy
      It's not an issue for me, just feedback.
      Lots of businesses need sponsorship.
      The way you market your sponsors is a bit cheesy for my personal taste. Chervo seem a good brand, but like most companies trying to gain a foothold in the golf market....massively overpriced unfortunately.

    • @TheAverageGolfer
      @TheAverageGolfer  Год назад +1

    • @markpowell5753

      It's a tough one trying to appeal to everyone...maybe just announce the sponsors rather than voice over etc?....keep the great content going and if you are ever near Bristol, I will buy you a pint ...all the best

    We see that the grooves are full on the face...do they have to write FULL FACE on the front of the club? It's like having to buy a car that says DISC BRAKES all over the hood. It looks terrible and amateur.

  • @pickin4you

    First off, that has to be the ugliest shape wedge I have ever seen. Next, yet another wedge video with not a 10:22 word about the bounce angle. Again, I used to be a club builder and that bounce angle on wedges is MORE important than the loft. That was drilled into my brain when learning club building, yet not a single golf club reviewer ever mentions it. Kinda odd. Wedges are THE MOST traded and sold clubs on for sale forums. And other would say I’ll take them without ever asking what the bounce angles are. This is why nobody can find a wedge that works for them. They get wedges with 8, 9, and 10 degrees of bounce and play awful with them. I am a 10 handicap and do not own a wedge with less than 12 degrees of bounce, and my wedges are the best clubs in my bag. All because I learned about them as a builder and nobody talks about it today because they don’t have a clue either.
