This was a very fun video to make! please leave a like if you enjoyed so I can make more!
I always use opera GX
thanks for the info! Do enemy in NG+ and beyond take less stance dmg compare to NG?
Bro is casually exposing fextralife 🗿. Syrobe the goat
Show me proof, you got a like lmao
While that is true, it’s not as impressive as some might think.
Woooooow and you still use his website
@@hunterprice321 I can tell how long it took you to respond, all I will say is "LOSER" lmao
Lol. Dude has an entire presentation. This is not my casual.
Great video!
10:13 for anybody curious: the reason for that is that the displayed AP values are floored, so the floats the game isn't displaying sum to at least 1.
In this case specifically the physical AP is ~417.86 and the fire AP is ~422.5 (total ~840.36); the floored values being what is displayed to the user.
bugcatderp
the floored value is only displayed but it's not the physical value used to calculate the damage, right?
@@regulareric8759 The non-truncated values are what is used for damage calculation
@@CryptidTrackerDoes the Longhaft Axe boost hyperarmor?
@@zanemob1429 Yes, Longhaft Axe has an innate poise value of 70 where the rest of its weapon class has an innate poise value of 59
tbh you kept the explanation very interesting, I might be the wrong person since I do programming and think it’s fascinating but I really thought you explained stuff in an original, concise, and interesting way, keep up the amazing content my guy, it’s always a pleasure to see
Thank you for the document, Elden Ring has been around for almost two years and Fextra couldn’t even bother adding a simple motion value and poise/stance number on its ashes of war list.
Should've as real bludawgs about that, like Steelovsky or J9
i like how you eksplain this, you make it so easy to understand. love it
Thanks for the detailed explaination! I really enjoy your build videos and recently recreated the posture break build for my character too, it's a ton of fun to play :D
Enjoyed how in depth this is! Would love to see this kind of content more, keep it up!
*Me pausing the video to try to understand math* yep, still too many numbers 😂. I was able to follow along after you explained it though lol ❤.
Thank you for another exceptional video and for all the hard work you put in! I very much appreciate understanding how crits actually work
its realy funny how fromsoft chose to calculate defense, like, you need so much time to just understand end reserch.
As someone who intends on making whacky builds, I think Fextra life is kinda cringe. I look at their builds and think to myself “I can do better.”.
Bro sorry I didn’t catch this sooner but great fuckin video bro you went deep asf in that shit and I love that how you completely break that shit down please keep up with the great work and I’ll keep supporting you.
all good bro as long as you enjoy it thats all that matters
Man your content is insanely good, i hope u keep up the fantastic work
Glad you enjoy it! as long as people like this sorta content i dont mind making it
Just wanted to chime in as i know these types of videos tend to struggle more on yt. The slower pace and nerdy details were super enjoyable ! Keep it up man!
Ended up subbing after binging most of your builds in the last few days. I really appreciate the INCREDIBLE amount of effort that goes into all of these. Really gave me some ideas to get past a roadblock in a run I'm having trouble with.
This type of video may go unappreciated by a large portion of the player base but I am not one of those people. I admire your mindset and work ethic and I appreciate all the work you do to help understanding the numbers, and more importantly the concepts with min-maxing this game. During my current campaign I am avoiding all "OP" builds in an effort to make every fight a challenge but being able to take into account some of the concepts of stance/poise and cirt and how it affects damage/dps it really helps me form my "mind web" of information when evaluating how I tackle fights and builds in this game. I'm still fairly new to this game but I am an absolute gamer when it comes to refining skill expression in any game I play and I throw you all the flowers for your efforts.
I actually came to your channel to look up that deaths poker / Blas blade build you have. As that was the strongest build I’ve ever played an wanted to again
And was just gifted with this Mic drop video
Well done man
This is such a great video! Ive gotten re-addicted to Elden Ring and started a new game and came across this video looking for fun new builds on the current patch. Great job man!
Awesome video, loved the megadunk on fextra
Wow, lots of great work. Thank you. Given all your data analysis, how about a list of the top 10 crit weapons or maybe the best one for each weapon class since the motion values vary widely. Keep of the great content.
This would indeed be a nice video to have.
Really appreciate it and love the vids
This was very informative, thanks for making this vid.
What about situations where the main scaling stat isn't at 99? What about the softcaps at 50 or 80? Does the greataxe keep winning?
I don’t really want to admit how many Dragonbarrow Vulgar Militia I have killed before I used Greyoll/Knights Calvary/ Bird…
Very informative. Thanks for the video!
Fextralife has a big problem in the form of "lack of updated content", and Elden Ring is not even the worst contender. I have no doubt that in time, it'll eventually get filled with all the relevant data for the games they try to cover, but as of now, there are still a ton of under-detailed pages, if not outright missing ones, and in some cases even misinformation. Since it's a wiki heavily reliant on the fandoms doing the heavy lifting (like most other wikis before Fextralife was a thing), you can clearly see the more aggravating examples of missing information in games that aren't as popular, even if they're older. One such example is a game I recently picked up called "Backpack Hero", and I can tell you more than half of the weapons/items available in that game are not listed, and even the ones that _are_ listed are so badly explained it's almost worse than just testing them yourself in the game (which doesn't even take that long).
I've been thankful to Fextra some times when I needed some refresher of basic info in popular games like Sekiro, Elden Ring or even Monster Hunter World. But whoever tries to argue that their pages are not to be taken with a grain of salt, should be taking off the blindfold before they crash into something while walking
glad someone else felt as passionate as me about this topic haha. a lot of what i do goes unnoticed, so when people try to fact check me with fextralife (something ive take more time than fextralife themselves to consistently update) it makes me seethe
@@syrobe It is the most surprising that they try to argue against video proof, yeah. But thank you anyways for doing all this math stuff on your own time, your videos are some of the most helpful and creative I've found in these years of the game being out. If Chasethebro is my go-to for PvP content, you're my go-to for PvE related builds and math. You keep the game alive and interesting even after so much time has passed, so cheers to you!
We are going to be slaying all the new bosses LOL good work Prof. Syrobe
I don’t know, if you know of it, but the Eclipse Crest Greatshield got shadow nerfed in patch 1.10. It no longer increases resistance to deathblight and another debuff that I forgot. (I think it was sleep)
This isn't true, the passive SpEffect of the shield has never been altered since release.
changePoisonResistPoint - 50
changeDiseaseResistPoint - 50
changeBloodResistPoint - 50
changeFreezeResistPoint - 50
changeSleepResistPoint - 50
changeMadnessResistPoint - 50
Those are the relevant param fields in 1.10, and that is what they looked like in 1.02.1 (release version). It never provided a bonus to Deathblight resistance; changeCurseResistPoint has been 0 in every patch.
@@CryptidTracker huh. My bad then… I was sur to have seen the deathblight meter when equipping the shield in previous patches… maybe it was a glitch. Anyways, thanks for the info.
Ayy the man is back
Great video fella.
Regarding poise damage, have a look at the spectral Lance, I have a feeling it does 40 poise damage per attack and the fully charged ordovis vortex as that seems to poise break 80 poise enemies with one charged attack.
Came for the crit build. Subscribed for this video. Great work! Love the deep dive. This is my kinda lore! Lol
This is extremely useful data! Well done to everyone involved!!
Bro out here given us the numbers mason once saw.
🎉 Watched the whole video, this guy has his math down pat. Believe in the the builds!!!
He is back 🔥🔥🔥
never left 😅
I don't know what you do for a living, but pretty sure that having you as a game dev would be pretty awesome!
im actually training to be a game dev right now! this is my passion! gonna apply for an internship soon wish me luck 😅
after 700 hours of this game i learn that 2h doesnt matter for riposting like it did in ds1 what the frick
nice vid, my brain disconnect a few times but im ok... maybe. So Executioner's Greataxe with RKR's ripost dmg against a player ( pvp) is better than misericorde with RKR ripost? i hope i got that right.
Really solid work explaining things out in a digestible manner! informative and well sorted
Could you do a mathematically correct ultra great sword bleed build. I’ve been seeing many builds where you can proc bleed with the great sword with around three to two hits but they are all somewhat different. Would love to see the most optimal build.
What about the Warped Axe? It has the almost the same attack rating as the executioners but as a small axe it has higher crit multiplier?
Is there anywhere you can find the data minded information publicly? I've been really curious about the scaling of spells in the game, and I would like to see the numbers for myself
Everything you said in regards to the calculations, equations, the code, and just about all the main information you sooke of was lost on my smooth brain, but you obviously worked very hard on this video and put a lot of effort into making sure we, as an audience, got very important and educational information about the game we all love.
Therefore, you earned my sub. Onwards to 100k, fellow Tarnished!
The clips from the intro had such atrocious damage that I nearly had a heart attack
cant speak for others, but i genuenly found that video highly interesting. Even though i dont understand the datamining aspect, i understand the math that you showed, and it was very interesting to see how many calculations are actually done in a game like this. Thanks!! ^^
Glad you liked it! i usually include math briefely since i know most people wont care for it but hopefully it was worth it this one time to fully dive in and explain everything
Amazing video!
15:43 Last I checked, Giant's Hunt can be parried. Did they patch that out?
I wish From added an option for more in depth battle stats like you got there. Also I wish they had Bo staffs. Not enough game use those
I'm on PS5
Bro just hitting CRIT as explosive 😂
Excellent video. Love the nerdy detail, but hey, I'm a developer so this is kind of my jam...
Is there a released calculator for this, or are we to create our own?
I like how FromSoft make everything so needlessly complicated that the stats displays in-game don't actually do their job of informing you anymore.
No, they inform you enough, it’s just not as specific as the players want(except for buffs, I really wish they’d have explained the buff type thing)
is malenia considered large or medium sized?
Lords of the Fallen is going to make you some major bling bling.
what I understand is: the mv benefit that the misericorde gets does not help the fact that its ar is too low, so full crit builds should really be focused on both rather than just the 140 crit modifier on the misericorde
here's my question: how does the rapier fare, with its 130 crit modifier and higher mv value than misericorde?
Bro love the vids but any chance you’ll pick up bg3 for some cool multi class builds no one’s thought off ?
I watch this channel cuz I love theory crafting and math and proof/facts
good video. two questions.
1. How does the "you always deal 1 handed damage" thing work if you're low level and critting with a weapon you can only meet the requirements for 2handed?
2. Night's Cavalry seem to take a lot more crit damage when they just got knocked off their horse, compared to after parrying them on the ground. Do you know what's going on here?
For the night’s cavalry, I assume it’s another special critical specific to them that happens to deal extra damage, similar to the note he mentioned about the vulgar militia having a special crit with its own values
Found your page literally two days ago, you have quickly become my favorite souls content creator. Good stuff man, doing the work I'm just too lazy to do
Thanks man! this is my first ever datamined video since it isnt necessary when just making builds but 60% of this video was either unknown or unavailable on the internet so i had to air it all out once and for all! was fun 😂
Hey, while I have your attention. In your opinion, on a min max build what has the most damage potential pve. An arcane flamberge(blood loss build) or the executioner greataxe crit build?
Starting a new playthrough, so stat distribution is not a big deal, and I've yet to do an OP build
@@seanchan4478executioners if you use the glintblade phalanx to break an enemies stance instantly
Nice job, really good for credibility.
Looking forward to your next heavily edited build with comedy sprinkled in 😉
haha thanks my last videos all have that same formula if you want a taste
Syrobe could you make a video of a mathematically correct fire build?
Do Crucible Knights count as medium? I primarily combat them with parrying so it is important to know whether a dagger is better.
Yes, they count as a medium.
the crucible knight boss would count as medium enemy type specifically in redmane castle, and would take
from a riposte:
1,877 damage from a +25 lightning mis at 99 dex
vs 1655 damage from a +25 fire executioners great axe 99 strength
but would also take from a BACKSTAB:
1314 damage from a +25 lightning mis at 99 dex
vs 1377 damage from a +25 fire executioners great axe 99 strength
Thanks for hard work. Your brain makes mine look like it's stuck in pre-school.
i never said it was easy! i just like challenging myself haha
Syrobe returns
im always here... i lurk in the shadows...
Pretty much the exact same things described in this video happen in dark souls 1 (and probably others that I haven't cared enough to research). Major differences are that enemies in DS1 rely solely on defense rather than flat percentage negations, buffs and rings can actually increase your AR before defense calculation, and non physical damage more often than not uses default motion values (for example Darkmoon blade will do the same damage regardless of 2 handing).
This is why it's almost never very useful to use an infusion other than standard (quality/heavy/keen and status infusions don't exist) in DS1, because the greater reliance on defense stats would require split damage weapons to reach ridiculous breakpoints to compete with single damage types against the higher defense bosses such as in the dlc. Nevermind that weapon buffs could also give standard infusion weapons higher elemental AR than the elemental infusions could and without lowering the physical AR like the (unbuffable) infusions would.
The result was a system where even if you had the bare minimum stats to wield your weapons you'd be better off trying to use them as is than to infuse them with fire, lightning (both of which completely eliminated stat scaling) or chaos (only scaled with humanity, the co-op stuff) against high resistances like Manus or Kalamete. Even dark bead, widely regarded as the strongest spell in the game, fails to overcome the shortcomings of its split physical and magic damage types and multiple hits against the most defensive bosses, being out damaged by crystal soul spear despite those bosses having significantly higher magic defense than physical.
Using math I never thought would be used in real life due to my lack of skills
Data mining LETS GOOOO
I secretly watch your video in order to see the biggest equation on Elden Ring. More number please !!!
Before I even watch the video, I fully expect to hear the line “proving fextralife wrong one video at a time” ESPECIALLY now.
Good job again bro.
2 hit crits go through defences twice as oppose to going through defences once like a dagger riposte?
Which does more poise damage, glintstone phalanx or spectral spear?
Spectral Lance (Spear/Halberd) does 25 PvE poise damage and 675 PvP poise damage
Spectra Lance (Great Spear) does 27.5 PvE poise damage and 742.5 PvP poise damage
Glintstone Phalanx (just the projectile) is 10 PvE poise damage per projectile (40 total) and 270 PvP poise damage per projectile (1080 total)
@@CryptidTracker that’s quite a difference lol, I knew both were good but phalanx is definitely better
Awesome video
I knew this game was screwing me over somewhere I didn't notice.
Right on time cause I just started a new playthrough 🙏❤️🔥
Would you possibly do a mathematically correct royal greatsword build? I really like this weapon and your builds a lot so I’d like to see what you have for that if you’d find it interesting to do

I believe the Albinauric women in the consecrated snowfield also share the unique backstab with the vulgar militia. Incredible video though, I love the mechanical deep dive!
They do, or at the very least the same animation
Walking away with a bit better understanding of how things work, but less desire to do the math..... well, at least I may be able to use it practically if not replicate it on paper the same way you do.
huh
Babe! Wake up! Crazy Elden Ring Math Man dropped another banger!
For the algo
Giants Hunt is parryable, but you call out Fextra for false info? Please, the hypocrisy
Flife lol
All my homies hate fextralife, from their trash advice on pvp to their blatantly false information on wikis that they can't even bother to update to trash builds with bad fashion. For example one time they made a video of a zamor curved sword frost paladin build and even though blaidds armor exists, they chose to use vykes armor which makes literally zero sense
pretty weak thumbnail, just so you know
the fact you are commenting this means the exact opposite btw
